Tesco Value Shower gel is super cheap and great if you are really desperate and short of money and have nothing else. I have bought this shower gel on one occasion, but that one experience was quite enough for me. It cost 30p for a large size 300ml bottle. Obviously, the packing is very plain and ‘no frills’ but the shower gel inside isn’t nice in any way.
The bottle has a flip back lid and the container is made of almost see through plain plastic which is slightly bendy to allow the gel to come out of the tiny hole at the top. There is no hook or ring to hang the gel up in the shower so you’re forced to stand it up on the shower base.
As soon as I poured some out I knew this wasn’t going to be good. The smell is ‘okay’. I’d give it 2 out of 5. The consistency of the gel isn’t creamy by any standards. It is thick but looks cheap and nasty.
I found this gel very drying on the skin and quite harsh to use. Afterwards I itched slightly as it just didn’t suit me at all. It left no lingering smell on my skin and although it lathered better than I had though it might, I found it a little hard to wash off properly afterwards and my skin felt slimy.
On the positive side, I did feel clean after my shower, but then again if I had washed in Fairy Liquid I daresay I’d feel clean too, and I don’t think this shower gel was any more kind to my skin than a blob of Fairy would have been. Probably the only difference in the two is the colour.
I won’t ever buy this shower gel again. I’m pleased it was only 30p to buy but I do think at only 30p I couldn’t really have expected a luxurious, rich and creamy lather and a good moisturising effect.
It was still disappointing though.
There are times when my weekly shopping budget can get a bit tight and it is during these times that I thank the existence of some the quality items brought to us from value range items at supermarkets. For this particular review it was Tesco that allowed me to save quite a few pennies when buying their Tesco Value Range Shower Gel.
== PRICE ==
The shower gel is part of the Tesco value range items and is priced at a brilliant low price of 30p! I had to glance back a few times to make sure I actually read the price correctly; as it was so cheap I could hardly believe it. Of course I was a little reluctant in purchasing this item due to it being so cheap, thinking the quality would also match the low cheap price but I thought you cant really go wrong with 10p and at least worth a try. I was actually priced originally at 10p per 300ml sized bottle, but I guess they realised that price was too good and is now 30p for 300ml, which is still great.
== DESIGN ==
The Tesco value gel comes enclosed in a blue plastic 300ml sized bottle. The packaging design has changed from the very boring looking white bottle to a blue more attractive looking shaped bottle. It has small pictures of bathroom accessories on a sticker that is stuck onto the centre of the bottle with the Tesco everyday value brand logo printed just above it.
== PUT TO USE ==
The liquid shower gel is a nice blue colour and has nice gel like consistency but not too thick that it becomes lumpy. The fragrance is pleasant and not overly strong or over powering which is great in my opinion, as I have found over powering fragrances can trigger a head ache.
I was more than happy with how well the gel lathered up, making it easy to spread and clean areas of the body. I was expecting it to be more runny and watery due to its cheap price but thankfully I was pleasantly surprised and even a small amount lathered up into nice amounts of soap meaning even a small amount can go a long way.
The shower gel made my skin feel nice and soft and clean during and after application leaving it smelling fresh. I also find it very easy to wash off the soap which is great as my skin can be sensitive to soap if left on my skin for too long.
== CONCLUSION ==
Overall I would recommend this shower gel for those who have a tight budget and need to save a few pennies, as it is great value for money and lasts quite a while. It has a nice pleasant smell, a nice foamy effect that cleans the skin quite well leaving it feeling clean and fresh. I don't think it leaves the skin feeling as fresh and soft as other more expensive brands, but it definitely does its job. Therefore you can't really go wrong with 30p and is worth a try for sure.
For Christmas and Birthdays I tend to get lovely bath products and then spend a few months wading through my supplies to then find I then have to buy my own. That is when the value products are used! I remember when this used to be 10p a bottle, but how times have changed!
== Packaging ==
The packaging is different to the one shown above as Tesco have re-branded their blue and white striped range to an 'every day value' range which doesn't scream 'CHEAP' as loudly. The bottle is a semi see through plastic with a clear flip top lid.
It has a simple white label on the front which says 'Tesco Everyday Value shower gel Formulated by skin care experts and approved by customers. Lightly fragranced'. It has pictures of bath related images underneath such as a bath, a shower curtain, a tap, plughole and a rubber duck. The writing and images are in two different shades of blue. It is a 300ml bottle and you can see the bright blue shower gel through the bottle which is useful as you can then see when you are near to the end.
On the back of the bottle there is another white label which lists the ingredients of the shower gel, directions for use and usual warnings about what you should do in case you get any of the gel in your eyes. Then where the shower gel is produced, which is Croatia in case you are wondering.
== Ingredients ==
Aqua,Sodium Laureth Sulfate ,Sodium Chloride ,Cocamidopropyl Betaine ,PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate ,Cocamide DEA ,DMDM Hydantoin ,Tetrasodium EDTA ,Parfum , Citric Acid ,Magnesium Nitrate ,Sodium Benzoate ,Sodium Hydroxide ,CI 42090 , Methylchloroisothiazolinone ,Magnesium Chloride ,Methylisothiazolinone ,CI 17200
== What was it like? ==
The liquid is a bright blue colour which smells pleasant. I think it smells quite fruity, which I wasn't expecting. I use a shower scrub puff in the shower so I squeezed a small amount on it. I find that it lathers up a lot and a little goes a long way. It leaves my skin feeling clean and smelling fresh. I haven't experienced any skin irritation in using this.
== Price and Availability ==
This is a Tesco branded product so obviously is available from Tesco stores and online at www.tesco.com and it is the bargain price of 30p a bottle.
== Overall Summary ==
I am very glad I tried this shower gel and I will be buying this regularly from now on. (Until I next get my Christmas stash of more luxurious goodies!). My husband also uses this and has no complaints.
Thanks for reading.
I recently bought some of this after reading a positive review of the product here on Dooyoo. I've been using various budget products for a while since I don't have much of an income and need to save pennies here and there so I've come to learn what to expect from the cheaper products. They tend to be worth exactly what you pay for them. This one really surprised me though.
When I saw this on the shelf at Tesco it looked exactly as I imagined it would. The packaging for shop's own budget brands is fairly bland and ugly. This is definitely not a product I'd feel happy about flashing at the gym or the swimming baths. It just doesn't say 'status symbol' and rather more it says 'I'm poor'. The Dooyoo photo here is outdated however and the product has had a mini makeover but the improvements are only slight. The front of the bottle now features an illustration of bathroom related items like rubber duckies and dripping taps. The illustrations would look quite reasonable if not for the massive ugly font above the pictures which ruins the effect. The bottle shape and plastic mold is rather plain too and the gel itself can be seen through the transparent plastic as being a garish blue shade - typical of most cheap gels I've used.
The 300ml sized bottle has a helpful information label printed on the back which has details of ingredients, directions for use, warnings, contact details and more. The brand don't go overboard trying to sell this product to consumers. Instead they simply state that this gel is "approved by customers" and "formulated by skin care experts". The bottle is fitted with a flip up cap which I find easy to lift up and to snap back down. I'm not certain this bottle would be ideal to travel with though since the plastic of the bottle feels quite soft and the flip lid is at the top of the bottle rather than at it's base.
I was really surprised when I first used this. I expected the gel to be very gloopy but it is actually quite smooth like runny honey. It dispenses very easily. The gel lathers up quickly too and although I would like a slightly thicker lather it is acceptable and is more than capable of cleaning and making you feel pampered in the bath or shower.
The gel's fragrance is probably the most surprising aspect of the gel. It is really lovely. It smells like a combination of melon and lemonade and it's very refreshing and calming. It makes me think of being on holiday abroad - all those juicy tanning lotion fragrances mingling with the aroma of pina coladas at the bar. It is a really high quality fragrance in this gel and that's something I didn't expect. The fragrance is somewhere between mild and medium in strength. I can smell it on my skin and in the steam when still bathing and it also smells slightly chocolaty at this stage. I can also smell it more faintly on the skin once dry.
The gel leaves my skin feeling good, not stripped of moisture or anything but I wouldn't say the gel has moisturising qualities either. It simply provides a decent clean and a nice bathing/showering experience thanks to it's foaming and cleansing qualities and also to it's fragrance.
I will most definitely buy this again as I really like it and I also like the 30p price tag! I will only use it in my own home though and not take it to sport centres. I wish Tesco would make the label a bit prettier as the actual gel is much better than the packaging and price would have us believe. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone on a tight budget.
==Tesco Everyday Value Shower Gel==
Several times a week I enter the doors of Tescos, one because we pass it on the way home & two because there is lots of reduced stuff to pick up after school! Sometimes I go with mum & sometimes I walk there along the canal but also another option is going around town with my friend who is also a fellow bargainer like me! Well on this occasion we were walking around & I said that I needed shower gel so off we went to the toiletries aisle where I found this product sitting on the bottom of the shelf & at the cheap price for a 300ml bottle I picked one up as did my friend, then we both went & exchanged smug faces as we felt good about saving money!
Tesco Everyday Value Shower Gel can be found in many Tesco stores & online. It comes in a 300ml bottle which amazingly costs only 30p! The bottle is clear & flat on the top & bottom which is useful for when that little bit is still left in the bottle that you don't want to waste! The front label is written in lurid blue (matching the Shower Gel colour) & underneath this there a pictures of Baths, Showers, Taps, Towels, Rubber Ducks, Bubbles & Long Handled Brushes coloured in different shades of blue. Tesco say that this shower gel is '''formulated by skin care experts & approved by customers''' which might sound a little cheesy expecially for a value product. Tesco also say that this product is '''lightly fragranced.''' I would say that the fragrance isn't light at all, it's quite heavy as it lingers in the shower after use. However the fragrance isn't anyway unpleasant.
Upon opening the bottle there is a sturdy flip top lid which closes effectively too. The Shower Gel has a pleasant watermelony type fragrance, it's nice & smells like lip balm! When you squeeze the shower gel out of the bottle either onto your hand or body puff / sponge etc. the gel itself is gloopy, not silky smooth like Radox or even Sainsbury's ones. The gel comes easily out of the bottle & sits on a body puff really easily. Rubbing the gel onto your skin, you can feel it cleansing away & removing dirt away from your body & soon the gloopy blue gel turns into glorious white foam & lots of it! During the wash I always add water to the body puff & this in turn creates even more foam! The foam rinses away from my body & eventually the foam on the shower floor rinses way too & you can see all of the dirt buried in the foam.
After when my skin is dry it feels nice & clean & not sticky or unclean in any way. The smell lingers on the skin for a good hour or so after the shower & it keeps me nice & clean for a day or so.
Probably the cause of so much foam in the shower is because I use quite a bit in one go but at 30p it dosen't hurt to do so does it? The flat top is handy & the fact that it dosen't irritate my skin is good too. So would I recommend? Hell yeah!

Tesco everyday shower gel
I bought this exactly for the reason it states on the bottle, as an everyday shower gel.
It is available online at www.tesco.com and also in tesco stores and costing 30p for 300ml of the stuff even if its awful it's not going to break the bank.
The bottle itself has quite plain labelling, just blue lettering telling me the name of the product and some bathing pictures and instructions and information on the back. For the price of the shower gel however I am not too fussed about the packaging nod certainly wouldn't expect anything fancy.
The shower gel itself is blue in colour and when I lift up the flip top and give the bottle a squeeze out it comes. It's a thick shower gel and is actually in texture rather gel like rather than creamy like many other shower gels and in some ways quite gloopy.
I was surprised by the scent which is very mildly floral. Given the packaging and the colour of the shower gel I was expecting it to have a more masculine or antiseptic kind of smell. However the smell isn't at all overpowering and even when added to warm water the smell doesn't become strong, and it certainly doesn't linger on my skin. This in some ways is a good thing as it doesn't interfere with any perfumes or creams I put on post shower.
When using the product I find that it feels dry on my skin and doesn't lather up well; I certainly don't feel as though my skin has been moisturised in any way, but it does make me feel clean, so it's doing its job in many ways. I often put shower gels in the bath as they usually seem to be similar products. However when I add this to running water I don't feel that it makes for a pleasant bathing experience, since the product just sits at the bottom of the bath and gives me no bubbles unless I do some frantic swishing about of the water.
** what I think if the product...**
For the price it's certainly decent enough and I was not too disappointed as it doesn't claim in any way to be a luxury product. It works well enough at getting me clean in the shower but no more. I don't know if I would buy it to take on holiday as it could be too drying after the effects of the sun. For a stand by product it's ok but not necessarily a product I would seek out.
Thanks for reading
This product is in the Tesco value range and can therefore only be purchased in Tesco. The product costs only 30p for a 300ml bottle.
The packaging is pretty simple, it has changed slightly from the picture and has the new every day value range packaging with lots of small blue pictures of shower heads and bathtubs printed on the semi transparent bottle.
The bottle isn't clear plastic, but a kind of cloudy plastic which you can see through easily enough to see how much of the bright blue contents remains.
The bottle is easy to stand up but doesn't have any feature which allows you to hang it in the shower.
The lid can be removed if you wish, there is a small flip lid which covers a small hole which makes the product easy to squeeze out the required amount.
The product itself is as I expected, not at all luxurious, but it cleans your skin which is what it is for. I didn't actually purchase this to be used as a shower gel - my real reason for getting it was that I was absolutely sick of my partner using up half a bottle of expensive shower gel to put in a bowl of water for his smelly feet!
Now he can use this 30p one instead! I always have a couple of bottles of this, I have used it as a shower gel a couple of times, I often take things like this on holidays as I can leave the bottle behind without wasting too much money.
The bottle says it is lightly scented, I personally don't like the smell, I think it has a strong scent of grapefruit although I can't see grapefruit anywhere on the ingredients so maybe it's just my nose. This doesn't cause much of a problem though as the scent doesn't linger on the skin after rinsing.
The gel actually lathers up really well and goes quite a long way when used as a shower gel. I didn't find it dried out or irritated my skin at all, just cleaned it - no more, no less!
Overall I actually prefer a different creamy bodywash from tescos which is only 50p for a larger bottle to use in the shower. This works fine to throw in a foot bath or just to have as an "emergency bottle". There's not really any bad points about this shower gel I just prefer something a bit more moisturising and luxurious most of the time.
review also on ciao under same username
I couldn't resist this shower gel at 10p, I had to have some. Tesco must have been selling it off to make way for their new labelling (much better in my opinion), anyway it's usual price is only 30p for 300ml so it's still a bargain.
It comes in a see through plastic bottle in not bad quality and I like that I am able to see how much is left. There's an okay flip lid with control pour hole which can easily be removed to get the last bit out. It has the usual striped value labelling (the new label has pictures of bathroom stuff and tells us it's 'Everyday Value Shower Gel'), on the reverse is the usual information, ingredients and directions for use etc.
The gel itself is bright blue in colour. It has a light uni-sex scent to it, not unpleasant at all but I can't put my finger on what it smells like; it just smells like 'shower gel' if that makes sense. The consistency is not thin but it is thin enough to accidentally use too much. It pours out easily and you don't need more than a small blob to get a decent lather going with a sponge, however I find it lacks bubbles when used only with my hands.
I'm left feeling clean and smelling nice even if the smell doesn't last long. It's not moisturising but it doesn't cause me dry skin, rashes and although cheap no irritation at all. The bottle lasted about a week but one of the kids uses loads at a time.
It's okay. It gets 4 stars
Our local Tesco in the village is a fairly big shop, but it doesn't always carry lots of different products. This item is one that is hardly ever on the shelf because it is a cheap and effective product, so tends to rapidly sell out. It is certainly something I pick up whenever I see it.
A few months back it was only 10p for a 300ml bottle of the blue gel, in a fairly hideous white plastic bottle where you couldn't see the contents. Now it comes in a clear plastic bottle, so you can easily see the contents, and comes in at the still cheap but not quite as bargainous 30p. I'm glad all products are not increasing in price that quickly.
The gel is certainly cheap and cheerful. It foams enough, but you don't get lots of luxurious foam. It smells reasonable, but not special. A bit of a sweet artificial smell. I find it gets you clean well enough, but is a little drying to my skin. I therefore don't tend to use it as a shower gel, but instead I use it as a refill for a handwash bottle. It is ideal for this function, as it is a lot cheaper than a smaller amount of handwash, and it is not quite as drying on a small dose on the hands compared to a full body wash. It helps stop as much waste because anyone with kids knows they always use far too much handwash to wash their hands, but you do want them to wash and have good bathroom hygiene. This is a good compromise as they like the colour, and it is just thick enough to not be running everywhere. I will certainly keep buying it with this purpose in mind, but I would be reluctant to use it as a body wash as the cost saving would be outweighed by the need to put on moisturiser for me.
This shower gel comes in a clear plastic bottle with white snap shut lid. The bottle can be widely recycled locally within the UK. On the front of the bottle there is a blue, white and red label stating that the shower gel is lightly fragranced, leaves skin feeling refreshed and clean together with a picture of water on the front.
On the reverse of the bottle there is another label with the following information:
* Directions for use
*The Tesco promise
*Quantity of shower gel
This is a budget shower gel which can be purchased from Tesco supermarkets, some Tesco Express stores or Tesco.com.
This shower gel costs around 15p per 300ml and usually lasts me around 3 weeks showering every day. Therefore each shower costs around 0.7p each! Bargain!
This shower gel is rather gloopy and thick and if you are not very careful it will be dispensed onto your hand/sponge and straight off again down the plug hole!!! This seems to be the main negative point regarding this product!
It is a bright blue shower gel which has a light and fresh fragrance, therefore is suitable for both men and women.
It lathers up well when it comes into contact with warm water and you only need a small amount to wash your body. It leaves your skin clean soft and very lightly fragranced.
A good budget shower gel for every day, not a luxurious wash!
I don't think there is much else that I can say about this product except if your short of pennies its worth a try!
Thanks for reading x
Staying sparkly clean when your skint has become a bit of a challenge, it comes down to things like do we eat on Wednesday or do I buy shower gel and shampoo etc. So discovering this little jewel was a God send. It costs a measly 10p for 300ml! I'm not sure you could buy a bar of soap or dish washing liquid for that.
The gel comes in a squat utilitarian little flip top recyclable bottle, the shape I wish all gels were as it sits in my shower very comfortably, and doesn't all over dramatically when a bit of spray hits it. As with all Tesco value brands the packaging is bog standard, there no fancy hooks to hang it up in the shower but I nor my family are the slightest bit bothered by that. The last bottle I bought was a translucent almost opaque white, it used to be clear. There doesn't seem to be an accompanying change in the product to match the packaging change.
The gel is pretty much as one would expect for a value product, there is a very subtle scent like a cheap relatively unperfumed soap, kinghts Castile comes to mind for some reason. My wife actively quite likes this as if she wears perfume (from her stash when times were better) it doesn't battle with any aroma left from the gel. The gel is blue, a pretty standard blue blue, and comes out of the dispenser slightly slippery and gloopy, it will slide off a sponge for instance if you get the angle wrong. It works really well on those sort of net type puff things, and brushes etc as it does soak into the open weave and creates an acceptable foam. Not the frothiest softest luxurious foams that some shower products manage to produce but acceptable none the less. It spreads well over the skin and does feel as if it is cutting through any natural body oils, but not in a damaging stripping way. The gel washes off the skin quickly and cleanly leaving you feeling fresh, clean and not overly coated with oil and scent.
Most importantly for our family is that it causes no dryness or irritation to the skin, the house is full of tender skinned itchy prone women, and this product leaves them feeling clean, fresh, and while not exactly moisturised not dried out like an old husk either. 3 happy ladies for 10p what could be better.
Also important to all of us is that Tesco do not test on animals and the following statement is lifted in entirety from http://www.animalaid.org.uk/h/n/CAMPAIGNS/experiments/ALL/303/
"Tesco do not conduct any testing on animals, nor do we commission any tests, or allow our product manufacturers to conduct such tests on our behalf'. However, they do not have a FCOD, as they feel it is unnecessary given the above statement. "
We quite like this product, we were recently in the .cough... enviable..position of being able to go up one notch to the 55p Tesco own brand, but chose the cheaper one instead and put an extra loaf of bread in instead (Tesco's value brand of bread is only 47p). A fantastically cheap product for the financially stretched.
As someone who absolutely adores beautifully fragranced toiletries I am inundated with various bottles, tubes, and tubs of products of every description. I regularly make myself promises where I decide I will not buy anything new until I've used up all of my old ones. Whilst I nearly always keep promises to others I frequently break those made to myself, as a few weeks ago I ventured out and bought a number of new toiletries.
The product I am reviewing today is Tesco Value Shower Gel, which unfortunately, did not catch my eye on the supermarket shelf and I found myself having to physically search for it. I've been purchasing quite a few value toiletries lately, as I've set myself a small challenge of assessing both their quality and effectiveness, particularly as I'm looking to save money where I possibly can.
The shower gel cost me 30p and is contained within a 300ml opaque plastic bottle and in my opinion, its' appearance is extremely dull and boring. There is a large oblong label, which covers almost the entire front of the bottle where we are provided with the familiar red and blue Tesco value logo on the upper left hand corner and an image of blue water on the lower section. There is a large blue banner in the centre advising us that the shower gel is lightly fragranced and will leave our skin feeling both refreshing and clean.
The gel is dispensed via a large flip top lid and is bright blue in colour and very runny. I was extremely disappointed, particularly as the dispensing hole is much too large and I found that the majority of the "gel" that I tipped onto my hand ran straight through my fingers and down the plug hole!
Whilst Tesco describe the fragrance as light, it reminds me of the "just cleaned" smell that you witness in public toilets! I cannot say the fragrance is unpleasant and I will admit that it is slightly refreshing, but in my opinion the aroma is somewhat strange.
The directions for use are to squeeze onto your hand or flannel and apply to body. However, my advice is to take no notice of the instruction to squeeze, particularly as the moment you turn the bottle upside down the contents will run like mad! If you attempt to squeeze I think you would end up with the entire bottle's contents fragrancing your plug hole!
As I use a net body polisher I generally find that my shower products last much longer. However, I needed rather an excessive amount of the runny shower gel to create any lather and in my opinion, it was very inferior. I have to say that the gel was efficient for removing grease and grime, but felt somewhat drying on my skin when in use. I also found that the gel would spurt out underneath the lid, so the bottle always looks extremely messy.
As with all products of this nature, care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes and should this occur you should immediately rinse well with clean, warm water. As this product contains a huge list of ingredients, I obviously haven't listed them in this review, but would suggest you read them on the rear label if you are interested in buying this product.
Tesco offer a money back guarantee if you are not happy with this product, which as previously stated, will cost you 30p for a 300ml bottle. To be honest with you, I felt too embarrassed to return this and ask for my 30p, so I've continued to alternate it with my more expensive shower gels, but I will not be buying it again.
I was also interested to learn that only two months ago this product was actually 10p, so a 200% increase in such a short space of time is ridiculously excessive.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product at all, as you will be very disappointed with its' inferior quality. Whilst I'm in all in favour of value products, it is my opinion that this is a total waste of money. Consequently Tesco value shower gel receives only two stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
I will very often eat the value or cheaper brands of products like baked beans and spaghetti as I think they are fairly good although I feel Heinz still set the standard but when it comes to toiletries or cosmetics I am sometimes a little cautious as when I was younger my mum once used some own label washing powder which irritated my skin and worsened my childhood eczema.
I recently did purchase though some Tesco Value Shower Gel which was brought to my attention by other reviewers. I decided to try it because I get through so much shower gel usually the Lynx, Radox, or Original Source varieties but these although really great, refreshing and with fantastic scents can add up expense wise over time if they are not on some kind of promotion.
The price is unbelievable, ten pence for 300ml so even if it is awful you can just discard it and you have at least not wasted a fortune. There is nothing exciting about the packaging, it's just a transparent bottle and so you can see how much gel remains and the flip top lid is easy to open. The gel is blue in colour and is reasonably thick as you use it, you can apply some to your body, it will lather up fairly well and you can then make it last for some time. The label on the bottle describes the gel as being lightly fragranced which is true, when you use Lynx or Original Source for instance the fragrance is very prominent and stays on your skin, I have even had people noticing after I have showered for some time but to realise the Tesco Value variety has any kind of scent you need to put your nose right up to the gel in your hand but I find it hard to be critical considering the price.
Importantly after the shower I feel clean and refreshed which is really what this product needs to do and my concerns that it might irritate the skin because it is a value brand were never realised, my skin felt good, not dry, in fact no negative effects whatsoever, although maybe someone with more sensitive skin would need to try it on a small area first just to be extra careful.
It can't compare with some more expensive brands especially when it comes to the fragrance but I don't think it is trying to. This could be ideal to use after a work out at the gym or after swimming, to fill up hand soap dispensers or if like me you need to seriously reduce the cost of your showers.
TEN PENCE! how on earth do they manage to sell this for that little?
As well as being the bargain of the century it is actually very pleasant with a light pleasing fragrance and nice consistency. I mention the consistency as I bought a comparable product from Morrison's and it was really "gloopy" and hard to lather. It just sort of fell off you in lumps onto the shower tray. But no such problems with this.
I also find that it makes an excellent hand wash.
The packaging could put some people off but to be honest I think that may be the idea. My solution is to dispense it into a more pleasing container.
Some hand washes can be very harsh on the skin but I've been using this for a good while now and I haven't had any skin irritation or redness.
These type of budget products are very under-rated they are always hidden away on the bottom shelf like some dirty little secret but I can honestly say that in this case you really don't need to pay premium prices, because there's nothing at all wrong with this.
I was shopping in Tesco recently and saw this shower gel for only 10p for a 300ml bottle, I just could not believe a product could be manufactured for a very cheap price and so I thought I would buy it and try it for myself to see how it suited me and I was pleasantly surprised how nice it actually was for a cheaper brand from Tesco.
It comes in a very basic plastic bottle with a flip off lid and inside the gel is a blue quite thick liquid and it has a slight fragrance to it and it does lather very well considering the price and it rinses off perfectly and it does not leave the skin feeling dry and I did not think I would like it at all but I was certainly wrong.
I think it is ideal for people who are on a very low budget and people who have large families and use a lot of gels, especially if you have a lot of children.
I have a little grandson and he likes to play outdoors when he comes to visit and quite often he plays in the soil area I have in my garden just for him to plant flower bulbs or plants and I am teaching him how to take care of plants and to see how they grow and he is really enjoying it and his hands and body are often quite dirty when he has been in this area as it is his area and he can play and learn to his hearts content and so when he come indoors, he needs a shower more often than not and I thought I would buy this gel for him also because it was a cheap price and if it did not work would not be wasting much, as it can be quite expensive buying branded ones all the time and this one suits me quite nicely in my opinion and his skin has been fine and not irritated at all and it has left it skin nice, clean and soft on his skin too and on my hubbys and my skin it was perfectly fine too.
The consistency is a good quality for the very cheap price and although it could not possibly be the same quality as a branded one, I think it is extremely good for 10p and I recommend it for anyone to give it a try as I do not think you will be disappointed and a little does go a long way and I will certainly be buying it again as I found it to be excellent value for money.
I also thought there would be no smell at all to it but I was pleasantly surprised when I flipped back the top and the mild fragrance was apparent.
The fragrance is not a strong one but it is quite pleasant for a low price in my opinion.
I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
