I am normally quite happy with St Tropez products, but I found that this one was a let down. It took quite a lot of days to build up a noticeable colour, but then again I do have quite dark skin (Spanish olive), which meant that I had to use up quite a lot, causing it to be an expensive product. As well as this, I found that my hands went extremely orange, and I would have to wash them after I applied the gradual tan, which would mean that my hands are a different colour to the rest of my body. I also found that areas such as my elbows and ankles and knees were much darker than the rest of my body, almost glowing orange, not giving a natural tan look, but looking quite shocking. By the time I did reach a colour I thought was okay, some parts were so orange that I had to scrub off the rest of the colour. Overall, the product may be okay if you were paler skinned, and if you didn't mind having an uneven tan!
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Mousse is the best self tanner I have come across. I have very fair skin and this mousse gives me a lovely healthy looking glow. The mousse is so easy to apply and sinks into the skin quickly so no hanging around to get dressed. I don't really mind the smell and it definately doesn't linger unlike other self tans I have used. My top tip would be to exfoliate well before applying so that you get an even coverage. Also, if you are not using mitts to apply the mousse make sure to wash your hands thoroughly immediately after applying. I usually apply before I go to bed as it is so quick and easy to absorb into the skin. St Tropez is one of the more expensive brands on the market but in my opinion it is definatlely the most natural looking for paler skins. If you are looking for a really dark tan it may not be for you although I am sure it comes in light to dark shades so there will probably be a shade to suit darker skin tones. For me, this keeps my skin looking very natural and sunkissed and nobody would know how pasty white I really am! I can honestly say I could not be without this product in my bathroom, all year round.
I have used the product recently and found it has an awful biscuit fake tan smell associated with it. It does however give a great colour on the first application and is streak free. It is a great product if you just wish a light tan. The colour does not fade with showering/bathing and does last about a week. It is probably overpriced cheaper bottles do exist out there and have the same smell and give the same streak free coverage.
