I gave this product a try the other day. Once again, I'm afraid it was borrowed from my eldest daughter's vast collection of beauty and pamper products. The product: Part of the Boots Natural Collection range, the product comes in a recyclable 200ml plastic container. The bottle is quite attractive to look at with a picture of what I assume to be a passionflower on the front. The product itself is purple in colour and of quite a thick consistency. The product warns it is not a food. It says the product is a 'fruit booster' and contains 'refreshing natural passionfruit extract...to help soothe away tiredness, leaving your body and senses refreshed.' As with all the products in this range it is inexpensive and available in Boots stores. Currently (27/07/13) not in stock online. Using the product: Poured a small quantity under warm running water as directed. There were bubbles - but not overly many. But then this product does not advertise itself as a bubble bath - it is a bath 'essence.' I suppose I could have made my bath bubblier had I put in more of the product. The product smells very nice. To me, it wasn't so much a 'fruity' smell, however - it smelled very like sweets. My daughter says it smells like grapes and sweets. Perhaps, that's a closer description than mine. During the bath, I could smell the product lightly as I sat in the water. Perhaps I was supposed to put more of it into my bath? I don't know as there was no recommendation on how much to put in on the bottle. After my bath, my skin felt soft and there was a slight lingering smell of the product on my skin and in the bathroom itself. It smelled pleasant and fresh. I didn't feel particularly revived but I did have a relaxing bath and the product did not irritate my skin. It wasn't the best bathing experience I've ever had - but it was O.K.
One of my Christmas presents from my mum was the Natural Collection Fruit Cocktail Wash Bag. It contained several items from the Natural Collection range, including this Passionfruit Bath Essence. I like to have baths when it's cold like it is at the moment, so I was really looking forward to trying this out, as it's not a range I'd buy for myself - I almost always go for budget items when it comes to bubble bath and shower gels. PACKAGING This comes in a pretty boring looking clear plastic bottle, with a black plastic lid. There is a green and purple picture of a passionfruit flower on the front. Inside, the bath essence itself is a gorgeous, glossy purple colour which looks lovely sitting in the bathroom. SMELL AND CONSISTENCY I'd be lying if I said I knew for sure what passionfruit smelt like, but this doesn't smell overly fruity. It seemed rather perfumed to me, and that fact, combined with the colour (which admittedly I love) does not seem 'natural' to me in the slightest. The consistency is very gloopy and the bath essence, rather than being pourable, has to be squeezed out in rather large blobs. Therefore I found I used this up extremely quickly as it was impossible to stop it coming out in massive blobs. USAGE The bottle states this will soothe away tiredness and refresh you - however I didn't find the fragrance fresh or zingy enough; I feel that the scent of this is better for a nice relaxing bath before bedtime... but that is just my opinion and experience of this product. This creates a lot of bubbles which stay for a long time. AFTER USING After using this, the scent lingered on my skin, and it felt nice and clean and soft. PRICE As I said, this came with a gift set that I got for Christmas, but a quick google reveals that this, on its own, costs £1.99. I feel this is a reasonable enough price (if you can afford it), but I personally would not spend this much on this product. It simply does not last long enough. WOULD I RECOMMEND? I wouldn't NOT recommend this. I do think it is too expensive given how rapidly it gets used up, and I don't think it is natural in the slightest, but the lovely purple colour is a big bonus in my view, so if I had the funds, I would probably buy this again.
