      A lovely chocolatey bubble bar

I do love bubble baths and my favourite products for this purpose are those from the Lush range. Recently I purchased the Ma Bar to give it a go in my bath. This is a solid bubble bar designed to be crumbled into the bath, producing loads of bubbles in the process. The name of this product is very clever, being a play on the Mars Bar name (reflecting the theme of the bar which is chocolate and caramel) and the fact that it was originally brought out as a limited edition product for Mother's Day. ***What is Lush?*** Lush is a store that makes toiletries and cosmetics, using natural and organic ingredients where possible and minimising packaging where they can. It started out as a mail order company called Cosmetics to Go, but this failed and the new store, Lush, opened in Poole, Dorset. Later branches of the shop opened in London and beyond, and there are now Lush stores all over the world. As well as in store, you can also buy products from the website, www.lush.co.uk. There are similar websites for many different countries including the USA, Japan and Germany. Lush buy ingredients only from companies that do not test on animals. All of their products are suitable for vegetarians and many are suitable for vegans. Lush say: "We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud. "We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again." ***A Ma a day...*** As mentioned above, the bar is designed to smell of chocolate and caramel and the look of the bar reflects this, with one dark brown and one light brown half. There is also a sugar cube in the middle, though I'm not sure what the point of this is, other than decoration - I ended up throwing it away. It has a delicious sweet scent that reminds me of chocolate and burnt caramel. I'm not really sure where the scent comes from: though the bar contains cocoa powder, it also contains sweet wild orange oil and bergamot oil, which I don't imagine smell of caramel! Still, it also contains 'perfume' - maybe the scent is part of that. Unlike real chocolate, this bar is suitable for vegans. Based on previous experience with Lush's bubble bars, I know that half a bar will be plenty in my bath. Therefore I chopped it in half with a knife and saved one bit for later. I wasn't sure whether to use the dark brown half in one bath and the light brown in the other, but eventually I decided to cut it the other way and get a bit of each in my bath. With bubble bars, I find it works best to crumble them under running water and swirl the water around a bit to create the most bubbles. This is what I did, therefore, and when I turned the water off and got into my bath, I saw that there were mounds of white bubbles on top of the brown water. Brown water sounds a bit gross, and it didn't look as good as, say, pink or blue water - but I just kept imagining the chocolate river from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! The water certainly didn't feel dirty - it felt silky-soft and very pleasant on my skin. I enjoyed my bath. Sadly the bubbles didn't last as long as they do with some other bubble bars I've tried. However the chocolatey-caramel scent was obvious throughout and the water felt very soft. When I got out of the bath and dried off, my skin felt very soft and I didn't need to apply much moisturiser. In addition, the lovely sweet scent lasted all evening which was a bonus. I highly recommend this bubble bar to people who like chocolate and sweet scents. At only £2.50 it is one of the cheaper bars available, though it is about to be discontinued so hurry if you want to give it a try!

        Great bubble bar !

Today I am reviewing the Ma bar from LUSH I got this for my mum for mothers day one year and liked the smell of it so I got one for me too. This bubble bar is one I like most because it doesn't have the osrt of bath bomb scent you always get from lush. The scent of the bar is sort of cocoa / orange scent. It's quite subtle, but the scent is amazing. I crumble it under the water and then it dissolves in creating lots of bubbles ! The great thing about the ma bar is that the toffeey scent is released more as the bar dissolves and it creates so many bubbles, it's just unreal !! The idea is that it's bubble bath but not in a bottle. I think this is a really imaginative and original idea which I really like. The scent lingers on my skin really well. It has the same scent as honey, i washed the kids which is a honey / toffee scent which is amazing !! I really like this bubble bar, yes it isn't a product you'd use every day and it is a bit of a luxury but I really like it and recommend it.

        Smells gorgeous!

I heard about tha Ma Bar a while ago, but only tried it recently. The Ma Bar was brought out especially for Mother's Day (hence the name), but because of how popular it was, Lush decided to keep it in their stores permanently. The Ma Bar is a Bubble Bar, which is basically a solid bubble bath - to use it, you crumble it up into smaller pieces, drop it into warm water/under a running tap and it produces lots of foamy, fragrant bubbles. The bubble bar costs a reasonable £2.50 for 100 grams of product. It comes in a recycable yellow and green paper Lush bag. The physical appearence of the bubble bar is quite 'lumpy', sort of like an irregular cube shape. It is a little smaller than the palm of my hand, so it's quite a decent size. One half is an off-white, creamy colour and the other half is quite a dark brown. The bubble bar has a cute little brown sugar cube in the middle of it, which also dissolves in the water. I made the mistake of licking the sugar cube and it tasted vile so I wouldn't reccomend tasting it despite how good it smells! The bubble bar smells delicious, I was expecing it to smell really chocolatey, which it does slightly, but it has a more sweet, honey type smell with an undertone of toffee and creamy vanilla and it reminds me a bit of Star Bucks hot chocolate - it smells good enough to eat. The scent fills up my bathroom, it's so pleasant and relaxing. It also lingers on my skin for a while which is nice, and because the smell is subtle it doesn't overpower perfume or deodrant. This bubble bar can be broken up into pieces to get your money's worth. I cut mine into 3-4 pieces. This is quite a messy process as it's very crumbly, but it's worth it. Once i've chopped it up I get a piece and then run my bath. Once my bath is almost full I crumble the piece of Ma Bar directly under the tap (obviously before you do this remember to make sure the water isn't too hot!) As soon as the product comes into contact with water it starts melting and transforming into lots of bubbles. Once small slither provides alot of bubbles which are all bouncy and foamy. The bubbles don't tend to last as long as the other bubble bars I have tried, i'd estimate that they usually last for around 10-15 minutes before they completely dissolve which despite been quick in comparrison to the other bubble bars, it is a decent amount of time. As well as creating big, fragrant bubbles, the bar also turns the water very soft and milky - it makes my bath water feel really moisturizing and also makes my skin feel soft and smoothe which is a lasting effect and my skin will stay soft and silky for around 3 days after bathing in the Ma Bar. The water does go a funny colour - a light brown and there is also tiny little gooey lumps that need breaking up. Brown is not the most appealing of colours to be bathing in, but it doesn't bother me at all because the smell and the effect that it has on my skin it is worth it. Overall, reccomended.

see past the murky water for pure indulgence

Lush is a company who offer freshly made soaps, shower gels and various other body goodies. They don't test products on animals and try to do their bit for the environment by reducing packaging where possible. *~*Bubble Bars*~* So many bath treats await you when you enter a Lush store making it a difficult job deciding what type of product you want let alone the design and scent! The Bubble Bars are exclusive to Lush and are just one of the treat options. The current range of bubble bars includes 15 different sized and coloured bubble bars. So what is a bubble bar? Basically, it is a bar of various ingredients including sodium bicarbonate and cream or tartar plus some perfumes thrown in for fragrance. The idea is to crumble this bar underneath warm, running water and appreciate the mass of bubbles and scent that it creates. *~*Ma Bar*~* Ma Bar is just of the bubble bars from Lush. It was originally released for Mothers Day but proved so popular they decided to add it to the all year round collection. It is vegan. This bubble bar is made up of 3 different sections..one large section of chocolate scented bubble bar and the other larger section is honey toffee. There is also a little cube of brown sugar to melt in the bath. The bar can be used all in one go or split for multiple uses. *~*Ingredients*~* Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Potassium bitartrate), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao), Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), *Limonene, *Linalool, Sugar Cube *~*Availability and Price*~* This is one of the cheaper bubble bars coming in at £2.50 for a 100g bar. *~*My Experience*~* I don't bathe often..that doesn't mean I go smelly but the convenience of a twice daily shower is so much more appealing. When I am feeling a bit under the weather or if an old back injury is playing up, I love nothing better than relaxing in a hot bath with my magazine and a wee candle burning on the window ledge. Having been let down with many of the bath ballistics from Lush, when I was in Glasgow last week, I decided to remember some reviews I had read of a certain bubble bar known as Ma Bar and decided to treat myself. Last night, I used up the final piece of it and decided it was about time I reviewed it. *~*Why This One?*~* I bought this purely on recommendation and the fact it was quite cheap compared to many on offer. If I were to base my choice on appearance this wouldn't have appealed as the brighter bubble bars such as The Comforter are so much more vibrant and attractive to my eye. The bubble bar was placed within a yellow paper bag and this kept it together until I wanted to use it. *~*First Impressions*~* The bar is quite uneven and is a sort of oval shape. It looks a bit like 2 different coloured pieces of dried clay have been shoved together with cracks visible. It is firm to the touch and the brown/dirty white sections are pretty much even in size. The sugar cube is quite large and nestles right in the middle of the bar. The scent isn't as strong as some bubble bars and is much quieter than many scents from Lush when in solid form. There is a faint whift of creamy chocolate and thats about it. *~*Its Ma Bar - Not Yours!*~* Earlier in the week I decided to indulge in a Lush bath. From experience, I knew this bubble bar could last me more than 1 bath and so it should for the price of it! Anyway the simplest option was to split it into the 2 different coloured sections but that didn't suit me. I didn't just want a chocolate bath or a honey toffee bath..I wanted a bit of everything so I used an old knife and split it down the other way so as to have half of each section. I kept the sugar cube for last nights bath! Splitting the bar proves to be a bit messy..inside it resembles a bit like a cake..a chocolate cake and with added scent to encourage you to go run a bath and experience the delights this has to offer. That is exactly what I planned to do and with my half bubble bar and a magazine at the ready, I started to run my bath. Crumbling this under the running water produces amazing results from the moment it hits the water. The bar doesn't take much persuasion to crumble and feels soft and creamy as it does. Quite surprised that shea butter isn't mentioned in the ingredients as it feels like its there. Anyway, the bubbles start to form immediately and start of light and airy before mixing with more water and becoming a big sea of fluffy white bubbles. Underneath, the water turns a murky brown colour which certainly isn't the most attractive but if you can see past this aspect then you will be fine. I noticed some of the bar didn't fully dissolve under the water and this results in little soft brown, floaty bits on the surface of the water..that I couldn't deal with as I didn't want to think I was swimming in a sewer! Last night I made sure I got my hands in and made all the excess bar dissolve into the water allowing it to be smooth and lump free! The little sugar cube barely dissolved on contact with water and decided to bob around before melting and leaving a little exfoliating bundle of sugar at the bottom of my bath which I loved. The scent isn't all that strong even in my small bathroom. It doesn't entice very much but you have to give it the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, I went out the bathroom to get my towel and within a minute, a heap of bubbles had climbed up my tiles around the taps..very thick and luxurious bubbles and I couldn't wait to jump in and chill out. I can only imagine how much bubbles would have produced if I had used the full bar! *~*Ahhh That's Nice*~* Stepping into the water, the bubbles barely move which means the murky colour underneath is covered up! The bath water feels incredibly soft and silky and lowering myself into the very hot water proves favourable and relaxing. This isn't a bubble bar that is going to awaken my senses but one that is going to relax me and allow me to experience that rare "me time". The bubbles and soft water caress my skin but never make it feel oily. I lay there for 10mins just relaxing and this is when the scent experience began to take hold. Whilst relaxing with only my head pokling out of the water, I was totally mesmorised and enveloped into the subtle scent within the bubbles. There was the sweetness of the toffee and honey with a rich, bitter undertone from the chocolate. It is very delicious and whenever I moved in the water, another burst of sweetness would reveal itself making me relax and appreciate my bath even more! When it came to washing down, I thought I would need a seperate body wash. I noticed the bubbles clung to my skin so rather than rinse them off, I started to massage them into my wet skin and was totally shocked by the thick and ultra creamy lather than they produced. The sweet scent developed further and covered my skin in toffee and chocolate kisses which felt indulgent and above all, made me feel clean as well as pampered. The bubbles remained a thick canvas on my bath for the entire duration of my bath and the water stayed silky soft coating my skin and allowing me to quickly do my legs with no need for messy shaving foam or cream. Washing myself down and stepping out of the rather slippy bath, I dried off and took in the results. Clean skin was expected and achieved..my skin felt soft to the touch and this lasted most of the night so thats a bonus. It felt so moisturised like someone had bathed me in a bath of shea butter! The main bonus for me was the gorgeous scent that remained on my skin. If I hadn't rubbed the bubbles on, I don't think I would have been as impressed so I am glad I thought to do this! It was so incredibly creamy and sweet that if I could have had a nibble of myself, I could have been mistaken for a choccie from a box of Milk Tray. Using this at night time, allowed me (and the fiance) to experience the delightful aroma in bed..not sickly in anyway and perfectly delectable! *~*Is It Worth The Money?*~* Fair enough £2.50 for 2 baths is quite hefty when you consider you can pick up a large bottle of bubble bath for cheaper than this. To me, Lush products are a treat and this bubble bar is no exception. I used it when I was feeling down and in need of a pampering, chill out bath and it worked wonders to relax my mind and body with the help of some very hot water (also helped soothe my achy back). I found my Ma Bar bath very comforting and indulgent to the point where I didn't actually want to get out. Luckily I only needed to rinse the bath quickly to get rid of any residue from the bar! This bar may not be exciting, bright not eccentrically scented but it is one that you need to try to appreciate in my opinion. Had it not been for the highly recommended review I read, I wouldn't have thought twice about selecting this particular bubble bar but it goes to show that looks aren't everything. This bar gave me a gorgeous albeit weird looking bathing and the addition of creamy and very scented bubbles made the experience even more worth the initial cost of the bar. Overall I loved my bathing experience with Ma Bar. It was relaxing and indulgent in every way possible. This bar was designed to be given to your Mum on Mothers Day and I would be over the moon if my son or anyone bought me this bar as a treat. On my next visit to Lush, I plan on buying my Mum a wee bar to tell her shes my Ma and I love her! Ma Bar comes highly recommended by me..you will love it! Thanks for reading :)

            Disadvantages

not up to Lush's usual standards but still a decent bar to use as a treat

I love the smell of sweet things, especially anything chocolate. Think full-blown chocoholic and you're pretty close to imagining me! It was with that in mind that I picked up two of these Ma Bars last time I was in Lush. One half smells of cocoa, the other smells of honey toffee and it has it's own little brown sugar cube right in the middle of the two halves - how could I resist that? Packaging ~~~~~~ Like most Lush products this comes with no packaging at all except a paper bag stuck closed with a sticky label that's printed with the name of the product. I prefer it this way as I can see and smell exactly what I'm getting before I buy it. It also saves on wasted packaging. The bar itself is more of a cube then a bar actually, it's square with a brown sugar cube stuck right in the middle. One half is a chocolate brown, the other half is a creamy white. Use ~~ The directions say to crumble under running water. With most bubble bars I like to break it into either thirds or quarters depending on my mood at the time and then crumble this part under the water. So, this is what I tried with this bar. I split it in half making sure to give myself half the cocoa and half the toffee and then dissolved this in my bath. It dissolved easily with the sugar cube taking a bit longer then the rest of the bar but this isn't a problem and was actually fun to play with for a while, I'm just a big kid really! As it dissolves it turns my bath water a rather unappealing dirty brown I guess it is chocolate so what more could I have expected. It's not the most attractive colour for a bath to be though. However, the proof is in the pudding as they say! So, I stepped into my bath which by now was full of bubbles. The bar itself doesn't really smell that strongly to start with, just a little sweet with a hint of chocolate. With half the bar dissolved in the bath it didn't really smell once dissolved either. This is a shame because the smell was really the main reason I bought it. On stepping into the bath the water is definitely softer but not to the degree that I've come to expect from Lush products. The bubbles however, did live up to expectation and lasted for the duration of my bath. Since the results from my first try had been a disappointment, on my second attempt at using this I used the whole bar in one bath and just crumbled the whole thing in. This produced much better results. Despite the lack of real scent in the bar itself once it started to dissolve it filled the bathroom with a gorgeously sweet chocolate scent that had something else as an undertone. I'm assuming this is the honey toffee but I couldn't quite place it as anything in particular. The bath still turned a very unattractive brown colour but the masses of bubbles produced covered the whole of my baths surface and so I couldn't really see the colour anyway making this less of a problem and on stepping into the bath the water felt wonderfully silky smooth. Since there was such a difference in results I would only ever use this as a whole bar again. Usually, with Lush bubble bars splitting it doesn't make a difference in the results achieved but there definitely is with this. Results ~~~~ When I got out the bath my skin felt noticeably softer and smoother. This wasn't really affected by whether I used the whole bar or just half. I did need to add moisturiser so it's not as moisturising as some of their other bars but then it doesn't claim to be either so I can't fault it for this. The scent, when I used only half the bar, didn't stick to me at all but then this wasn't really a surprise since the bath didn't smell either. When I used the whole bar in my bath the scent did linger on me for several hours although not all day. When on my body the honey scent came through a little more making me smell a bit like a sweet chocolate pudding! It's a scent I loved but won't be to everyone's taste. Other Information ~~~~~~~~~~~ Lush are against animal testing so, like all their products, none of the ingredients in this has been tested on animals. It is suitable for vegans but does contain SLS so one to avoid if you're sensitive. Pricing, Availability, Recommendations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This bar is only available from Lush but can be bought both online and in-store. It costs £2.50 for a 100g bar. At that price I would recommend it only as a treat, especially since you get the best results by using the bar all in one bath. I personally adore the scent, although it may not appeal to everyone as it is quite sweet. The bubbles do last the whole of my bath so it's definitely not a bar product and therefore I will recommend it; it's just a shame it doesn't work so well when it's cut in half and it's because of this that I'm deducting a star.

              Disadvantages

A lovely bubble bar but you should be aware of the ingredients

Ma Bar - Lush Bubble bar This bubble bar looks rather like a chocolate bar in simple white and brown in a sort of rounded mound shape with a brown sugar lump on the top and is quite understated compared to some of the Lush bars. I got my first Ma bar from my son for Mother's Day a few years ago and that started my love affair with this very comforting bar. When you first sniff the bar it smells sweet and slightly vanillary with just a hint of caramel like chocolate. It is about 3'5" long and about 2.5"wide and fits just about in my hand with my fingers around it. It looks pretty ordinary with subtle brown and cream colours but to me looks more like a homemade sweet meat than a soap product. The name is obviously a play on words on Mars Bars. Lush describe their bar as a "Sweet chocolate treat for your tub" then they continue with "Ma Bar us a happy marriage between delicious cocoa powder and sweet orange oil, topped off with a dab of brown sugar. Tempted? Crumble in your tub to indulge in the biggest, toffee-chocolate bubbles imaginable and experience pure candy bar bliss". Just in case anyone has not tried a Lush bubble bar, the idea is that you crumble the bar as your bath is filling and then enjoy a huge mountain of luxuriously softening and moisturising scented bubbles. I stored this in my T shirt drawer for a week or two to enjoy the vanilla caramel scent through my clothes first. I keep all my Lush soaps and bubble bars in my drawers as that way I never by any drawer scented liners and my clothes always have a "Lushious "smell about them. One night I decided I needed a bit of pampering after a hard day babysitting the grand children ( it is great being retired for our children think babysitting is on tap) so I had a little hunt through my drawers to see what treats I could find. I discovered a lovely Ma bar hidden in my bottom drawer so I took it out of its yellow paper recyclable bag and had a sniff. Lovely creamy sweet smells filled my nostrils and I looked forward to enjoying this in my bath. The scent is not that strong for a Lush product in its dry state but strong enough that it has passed a little onto the clothes it was next to. Okay being a meanie I NEVER use a whole bubble bar in my bath usually I can get two or three baths from one bar so I crumbled about one third of the bar in as it is one of their middle sized bars. I sat and watched as the bubbles began to grow and sniffed in. I was enjoying the distinctly vanilla creamy caramel odour with a very faint hint of a chocolate fragrance. My bathroom was filling with the smell of home cooked chocolate cakes, a wonderfully comforting aroma, a bit like being snuggled in a cosy blanket. The bubbles from just a third of a bar give me a really bubbly bath; they were abundant and thick as they normally are when I treat myself to one of these. Bear in mind the price of £2.50 I don't think I'm being unreasonable in expecting at least two baths and usually three from that. Now we move onto the feel in the bath. I am never disappointed with this bar as it always makes the water feel creamy and soft and I needed no soap or other cleaning agent I just soaked in the bath and enjoyed luxuriating in my bath of creamy vanilla and chocolate bubbles and enjoyed the caressing smooth feel of the moisturised water warmingly soothing and caressing my tired joints and oozing into my dried old skin! Strangely when you look at the ingredients there is no vanilla at all in there but I am afraid my nose didn't really pick out the orange and bergamot at all and that is surprising as both are quite citrus smelling. Maybe the combination with the cocoa powder created the creaminess that I associate with vanilla. What are the benefits of this bar in terms of essential oils? Looking at the list of ingredients these include: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocoa powder, Cocamide DEA, Sweet wild Orange Oil , Bergamot oil, *Limonene, *Linalool and lastly the sugar cube. Less desirable ingredients: The sodium bicarbonate and tartaric acid make the water soft and the less desirable sodium laureth sulfate is there to make the bubbles. This has been linked to cancer so if this bothers you then I suggest you have a look at this article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_laureth_sulfate The Cocamide DEA is a viscosity, thickening and foam booster but once again there have been stories about links with cancer. The storage and handling precautions are also a little worrying. See http://www.useful-chemicals.com/?p=39 . Furthermore Cocamide Dea should not be used in products with nitrosating agents or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives as then nitrosamines can be formed which are carcinogenic. So if you are concerned I would suggest you investigate more thoroughly the ingredients just so you know what you are using. Some of the above ingredients can be irritating to skin too, my step daughter cannot use these products as she gets bad eczema if she does. So all in all what do I think? I really like this bar it certainly one of my favourites. It is not that pretty and feminine, more a chunky and basic looking bar in an old fashioned homemade sweet sort of way .The scent is just perfect creamy sweet and a bit like my kitchen after I have been baking. The only negative thing is that the bath water becomes a sort of odd sludgy looking colour. It reminds me of bath days when my son had been playing in the mud. The bath tub also gets left with a bit of a brownish tinge after the water has gone too so I always make sure that I rinse the tub straight away to avoid any potential staining of my white tub. Would I recommend? Well yes I do like this but have concerns over the ingredients bearing in mind Lush's claims about using only natural ingredients. Thanks for reading. Another great bath bar!

I have been using this since it first came out, I love shopping in Lush and will try almost anything from there providing it smells nice! This particular bath bar costs £2.50 for 100g. It is half white and half brown and in the middle it has a lump of brown sugar. For those of you that haven't used a bath bar before you simply break off a small piece and crumble it under running water. I find that I get about 10 uses out of one of these. This particular bath bar has an amazing chocolatey smell this is from a mixture of honey toffee and cocoa that Lush use to fragrance it. The sugar cube in the centre of the bar simply melts in the bath too. The ingredients are listed as; Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Potassium bitartrate), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao), Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), Limonene, Linalool, Sugar Cube. As with all Lush bubble bars you get a really good foam from a small amount, this is good for people like myself who love to spend forever in the bath relaxing, the bubbles help insulate the water! After using this I didn't really notice that my skin felt any different. However my skin did smell really nice. I would recommend this to be used with Honey I Washed the Kids soap and the Soft Coeur massage bar, they all have similar fragrances. I would recommend this to anyone with a sweet tooth who loves chocolate, you can indulge in your chocolate cravings minus the extra calories!

                  Heaven!

For those of you who have never come accross a Lush bubble bar, it is a solid lump that you crumble into a bath, and once the hot water runs it creates a bubble bath! Ma Bar is one of them (probably my favourite.....hard to choose though.) Ma bar is a square shape, half brown and half white, with a brown sugar cube in the middle. When I first smelt this product I seriously wanted to eat it! It has a gorgeous chocolatey smell and although I've never actually eaten I'm sure it must taste nice.....well maybe not but it smells amazing anyway. Anyway, as I said to use it you crumble it into the bath whilst running a nice hot bath. You only really need half of it but it's up to you if you want to have one extremely bubbly bath, or break it in half and make it last two baths. Even half of it makes a nice lot of bubbles. Once you've run your Ma Bar bath and got into it, you should notice how soft and creamy and moisturising the water feels! Also you'll be surrounded by the gorgeous chocolately smell of it and masses of lovely bubbles! That is my idea of heaven! After your skin should feel nice and soft and smell yummy!

                    A great bar

==Lush Ma Bar== this has got to be my all time favourite Bubble Bar from Lush and I couldn't believe I hadn't reviewed it until now. I have been buying this continuously since having first found Lush some years back and I always make sure that I pick one up when ever I pace an on line order or am lucky enough to get to a store. The Lush Ma Bar is the nicest of bars purely because of the wonderfully sweet and luxurious aroma that comes with it. It is well worth the £2.45 pence which a 100 gram bar of the stuff costs and it is really my beauty vice when it comes to any products. The Ma Bar is not for everyone though because I have recommended it to quite a few of my friends and they didn't' see the appeal as much as I do. The bar itself has the sweet aroma of honey and toffee with a touch of cocoa thrown in for good measure. It has the same fragrance as my favourite soap from Lush "Honey I washed the Kids". AS with all bubble bars from Lush the directions for use are very simple in the fact that all you need do is break up and crumble the bar under warm running water. The bar will then melt down and produce masses of fragrant bubbles. It also turns the water a muddy brown colour which isn't the nicest of looks but I can get past that as the smell is so nice. I wasn't best pleased however when I had run a bath of this Ma Bar a few weeks back ready to get into when Himself came back from work and asked if I wouldn't mind getting rid of my dirty bath water. I told him I hadn't in fact gotten in the bath yet and did he really think I was covered with that much dirt! Cheeky monkey! Not only does the little bar look good enough to eat, but it also smells good enough to eat. I love the fact that the sweet honey aroma stays on my skin for a good while after I have gotten out of the bath and I smell delicious, even if I do say so myself. My skin feels soft and silky and having a bath in this and although the bubbles are not as much as some of the other Lush Bubble bars I have tried, the bubbles that are their mixed with this gorgeous fragrance is enough to make me feel like I am getting a special treat. I really cannot rate this bubble bar high enough and I am sure to keep buying them. The smell I love and the feeling of my skin after the bath is lovely too. High recommendation. A top score of 5 out of 5 star. Many thanks for taking the time to read. I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.

                      Disadvantages

I love this sweet smelling bubble bar, smells amazing!

I love using Lush items and one of my favourite of their products is the Ma Bar Bubble Bar. Bubble bars are basically solid lumps of bubble bath that dissolve when dropped or crumbled into your bath water and create loads of fun scented bubbles! I pay around £2.50 for a bar, which weighs 100g and although you could put all of this into one bath (if you can handle that many bubbles!) but I split mine into 2 or 3 chunks normally, to make them last longer. This is better value and you still get plenty of bubbles in my opinion! This vegan bubble bar is half brown and half white, with a cute little brown sugar cube in the middle. The best thing about the Ma Bar is it's gorgeous scent, which is why I bought it in the first place. It's like a gorgeous chocolate shop, with smells of honey, chocolate, cocoa and toffee making it brilliant for those with a sweet tooth. Just don't eat it. When crumbled into the bath, my Ma Bar produced masses of fluffy bubbles and released loads of lovely aromas. It also turned the bath water brown which is not really the most attractive of colours to bath in, but the gorgeous scented bubbles made up for that. After a long soak, I got out of the bath and noticed that my skin felt much more smooth after using the Ma Bar. Not only did it feel more moisturised but I smelt amazing, my skin was a sweet smelling mix of honey, toffee and chocolate that I loved! I've been hooked on this since first using it, and can't recommend it enough! Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao), Cocamide DEA, Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), *Limonene, *Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Sugar Cube

                      Disadvantages

A great treat and makes for an ideal present too

As a self confessed Lush-ite, it may not surprise you to learn that I have tried pretty much all of their Bubble Bars, and Ma Bar is no exception. The title "Ma Bar" reflects the fact that this bubble bar really does smell like a Mars Bar! However "Ma" actually stands for Mother, as this product was originally created for Mothers day but after it became so popular, they decided not to retire it (I wish they would do the same with the Snow Fairy range!). The ingredients include cocoa powder, sweet wild orange oil which in turn give off wonderful toffee and honey aromas. The mix of cream/brown with it's design also reflects my idea of a Mars Bar, and what with the sugar cube in the middle, it is bursting with sweet aromas. As with most bubble bars I tend to break them up so I get more use out of them, as each Ma Bar costs £2.45, which would be expensive to use up in a single bath! I would advise caution over using the brown coloured side in a bath, as it tends to make the bath go an unpleasant brown colour. Even if the smell is off toffee and honey, it still isn't visually nice to look at! Lush recommend crumbling this under a warm running tap, which will create lots of bubbles however you can also drop it in the bath and let it crumble on it's own. If you rub some of this on your skin, you will find it makes your skin smell just as lovely as the product, and will not irritate skin (even sensitive skin). I have bought this product for both myself and as a present for people. As it smells so divine, it in turn makes the atmosphere around it smell great too, including bedrooms or indeed present boxes. As Lush is against animal testing and uses all natural ingredients where possible, it also makes for a guilt free present, or treat for yourself. I would certainly recommend trying Ma Bar as it definitely helps me to relax if I have one of these in my bath, and what with the gorgeous candy-esque smell it is guaranteed to put anyone at ease and make them go "Ahh". Definitely one to try!

                        Disadvantages

I liked it, but it wasn't amazing.

I really love Lush's bubble bars, and have tried most of their current range. Bubble bars are basically solid bubble bath, and you crumble them under a tap to get a mound of bubble in your tub. Ma Mar costs £2.45, and is a 100g bubble bar, which is the average size. Ma Bar is brown and white, with each side being a different colour. There is a brown sugar cube in the middle, this disolves in the bath (unless it's a cold one!). The bubble bar smells quite sweet, and has a toffee type scent. Apparently it's scent is very similar to Lush's 'Honey I Washed The Kids', which I can see. I must admit I do think the scent could be a little stronger. I usually get two uses out of a bubble bar, and keep the rest wrapped in cling film until I use it. Ma bar created lots of bubble for me, but it turned by bath water a mucky, murky brown colour, and it didn't look very pleasant. Once I'd had my ma bar bath my skin felt fine, but not overly moisturised or super soft, which was a shame. The bath water didn't stain my bath, which was a relief, and I didn't find any sigar residue. I didn't find that the scent lingered much after my bath. The bar contains: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao), Cocamide DEA, Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), *Limonene, *Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Sugar Cube (*Occurs naturally in essential oils) I liked this bubble bar, but thought the scent coult be a lot stronger and the colour could be improved, as it makes your bath water seem a bit mucky!

                        Disadvantages

This chocolate lover feels a bit let down.

I am always needing a bit of girly pampering and my latest favourite place to fin the right products to relax and refresh me is the store LUSH. After being enticed in by an exotic fragrance whilst walking past my local shop a few months ago I've been unable to stay away ever since! If you've never been into the LUSH stores they have an unusual kind of display set up. They sell soaps, bath bombs, hair and skin products and curious shaped things called 'melts'. All of these are piled up on wooden tables and stands as though it's a continental market stall. The product information is sketched onto small chalk-boards which are erected near each item. The thing that attracted me to the product I'm reviewing here, the Ma Bar, was the fact that on the ingredients list and description written on that little chalk board was the word "cocoa". I'm a chocolate addict and if I can't eat it the next best thing is bathing in it, right? The Ma Bar is described as a 'bubble bar' which is something you add to your bath to create luxurious foam, fragrance and a smooth texture to the water. The Ma Bar is not actually a bar at all but more of a mis-shapen scone shape. It is like a big lump of cookie dough. One side is light, a creamy white chocolate colour which is described by the company as being "honey toffee" and the other side is dark, a brown milk chocolate. If you pick it up it has a squishy feel to it, like raw dough or like a big ball of whey that you have just kneaded. In the centre of the patty cake is a crystalised brown sugar lump. To smell the fragrance of the Ma Bar you have to smell it close up. It's fragrance is very chocolatey with hints of vanilla and sandalwood. There is a slight difference between the aroma of the white side and the brown side, with the brown being more cocoa heavy and musty and the white being sharper and a bit fruity. All in all, it smells good enough to eat, so resist! I added the Ma Bar to warm to hot running bath water and let it do it's thing. The sugar lump detached almost immediately and I felt it swimming around in the bottom of the bath. I was convinced it wouldn't melt but in fact it was the first thing to dissapear. The rest of the product dissolved more slowly, breaking up into fingernail sized pieces. It had a slight sizzle when melting. The water gradually started to turn muddy brown which was a bit horrible. I didn't think the water would turn as dark and as grotty looking. It was as though I hadn't washed my feet for a year and now they were getting their annual clean up! The dirty colour of the water didn't really remind me of a chocolate river as in the beautiful gardens of Willie Wonka's factory. It was more like a stretch of the polluted Ganges. The amount of bubbles and foam arising from the Ma Bar could not disguise the horrible water colour underneath. This is because the foam was so slight, with teeny, sloppy bubbles that had a greasy and slimy appearance. It actually reminded me of the scum on ocean waves as they wash up on dirty beaches. This bubble sludge combined with half-melted brown bits of goo is not a nice picture. The texture of the water was quite silky and smooth though and if I closed my eyes it was quite a nice sensation! I was surprised the fragrance of the Ma Bar was not released into the air and didn't seem to rise up in the steam. I could not smell the fragrances until I smelled my wet skin, and even then it was very faint. I would describe the fragrance on my wet skin as being like caramel. When I dried my skin after bathing the fragrance of the Ma Bar did not remain. It was not detectable at all after towelling myself. My skin was not softer or moisturised as I imagined it might be. The Ma Bar simply does not leave any impression it has ever been used. The Ma Bar is vegan friendly and contans such ingredients as Sodium Bicarbonate, Perfume, Cocoa Powder, Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), *Limonene, Sugar Cube. It is on the cheaper side of LUSH's bubble bars being priced at £2.45 for one 'bar'. In my opinion there are far nicer and more pampering bubble bars available at LUSH. This does not conjure up a chocolate lovers dream. It didn't feel feminine or pretty to me and I actually was a little repulsed by the appearance of the bath water. I was also dissapointed by the very weak fragrance and the fact it did not linger on my skin after use. The only nice thing was the smoothness of the water after the bar had completely melted. Ultimately, I would not reccommend this bubble bar. It's a let down. A milk tray bath :)

Lush again have comd up with a wonderfull delight for us all and it is called ma bar and is a bubble bar. Bubble bars are a very unique concept, i mean how many other shops do you go into that have them? NONE!! Most people like to have a bath full of bubbles but most supermakert/chemist bubble maths are full of chemicals and very drying on the skin but not this. It was orginally made for mothers day to buy for your mum but everyone loved it soo much it stayed permanetly! Appearance - Its about the size of of 3 quarters of your palm ( unless you have large hands ) and it shaped like a slightly dishevelled flat cube. It has 2 sides one which is a pure white and the other is a medium milk chocolatey brown, there is also a golden cudbe of sugar in the middle ( the kind you put in your tea or coffee ). Smell - Now this bar is perfect if you love the smell of chocolate or honey if you dont then dont buy it. Its a lovely scent which is not sickly at all and to me it smells like a sort of honey chocolate like the chocolate in milktray. Ingredients and price - Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao), Cocamide DEA, Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), *Limonene, *Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Sugar Cube It currently retails at £2.45 which yes it is a bit steep but it can be used more than one if you split it, i get about 4 baths and still have lots of bubbles. It also vegan which is great becuase it means nearly everyone can use it! Hurrah! Use - It is rather simple to get started break a bit of it off, a large chunk enough for a bath and then crumble in in your hands real small and throw it under the tap, then swirl the water in your bath around to get lots of bubbles and then voila! Jump in and feel the lovelyness. Not only do you get bubbles but you also get lovely soft and fragrant water, the water feels quite milky which feels lovely on your skin and you dont feel dry like with normal bubble baths. It does leave the water brown but really its not that bad, i mean if someone thought you had an accident in it, then it would be the nicest smelling accident in the world! So all in all if you want a lovely bath full of bubbles, sweet smelling skin and to feel soft and smooth try this! x

                          A Yummy Scented Lush Product.

As Ive been ill recently my mom has being trying to do stuff to make me feel better and even though she hates Lush (shes a freak right?) she popped into the shop and picked me up a couple of these bubble bars thinking that a nice long bath would make me feel better. So last night I chose this Ma Bar to put in my bath because it smelt absolutely gorgeous and I thought if anything will make me feel better its Lush! Now I usually give my brother half of my bubble bars to use but because this one smelt so good and I had been wanting to try it for ages I decided to be selfish and use the whole thing for myself - I guess you could get at least two baths out of this bar though. This bar doesnt look great I have to say but it is quite cute. I dont think a brown bar is going to attract to many people and it certainly isnt as feminine as most of the bubble bars Ive tried from Lush but who cares what it looks like its only going to be crumbled into your bath! There is also a little sugarcube in the middle of this bar which surprised me as I didnt know how quickly it would dissolve but luckily it dissolves more or less instantly! To sue this bar I simply crumble it under the running water but I think you can just pop it in the bath and leave it to dissolve but I dont think it matters whichever way you do it to be totally honest. Then you just sit back and wait for it to melt into the water and work its magic on your skin. This bar makes a load of bubbles in the bath and it smells amazing as soon as it comes into contact with the water but I do have one small problem. The brown bathwater, you can see it straight away because of the mountains of bubbles but when they start to dissolve the brown water is quite off putting - when I showed my mom I wont even say what she compared it to the dirty cow hehe. Now even though the colour of this bar isnt to appealing the scent really is. This smells absolutely amazing - possibly the best I have ever smelt from Lush. This smells like a mixture of chocolate, toffee and vanilla and its beautiful as the three different scents work so well together and it is a super sweet scent. Now even though this scent is so sweet I wouldnt say that it is overpwering in the slightest just a proper sweet, yummy scent. It actually smells good enough to eat although I wouldnt recommend it. And the scent lasts for ages on your skin so you can smell it for the rest of the day. Yummy! This even makes the water feel super soft and in turn makes your skin feel amazing so apart from the brownish water its hard to find a problem with this bar! Im definately going to be using it again and I highly recommend it to everyone because this is a winner from Lush. Mountains of bubbles, an amazing scent and it leaves your skin feels fabulous so this is a winner! Highly recommended! This bar will set you back around £2.45 from Lush stores and online on their website and I reckon thats great value for moeny so go and buy yourself a bar immediately. Thanks For Reading x0 Salz 0x
