      Avoid!

I have to say that I am not a lush fan at all, partly due to the fact that I am allergic to most types of bath bombs and soaps (etc) but also I think that even if I wasn't I still wouldn't be due to the prices of the products! However, the other day on a trip to the Trafford Centre my friend was buying some products and I thought I would treat my little girl to a special bath bomb in the hope it would encourage her to enjoy bath time. The bath bomb we chose was the Hippy Chick which was displayed with some other Easter themed bombs. The bomb is in the shape of a cute little chick and is completely white apart from a little orange beak. Picking up the bath bomb, and getting the powder all over my hand straight away (another reason I don't really like these products!) the grapefruit scent was really strong and my daughter loved the smell of it so that was that, she was off to the cash register to pay! Lush states the Hippy Chick bath bomb has bohemian, refreshing scents of frankincense and citrus essential oils however I could simply smell grapefruit. We decided to use the bath bomb this morning, and having only ever used one once before (which is such a long time ago I can barely remember) I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I let my daughter drop half of it into the bath and was very shocked at how fast it fizzed away to nothing, just leaving a small patch in the bath with a bit of froth. As half made no real difference I dropped the other half in, which fizzed just as fast and just turned the water dirty looking! To say the scent was so strong when smelling the bomb itself, it almost completely disappeared when it was in the bath! In fact, the gel soap we use had more of a scent than the bath bomb. After my daughter got out of the bath, there was no scent of grapfruit on her skin whatsoever, and if anything her skin feels a little dry. My daughter has used a bath bomb in the bath before, but her skin felt nothing like this after that time. The price of the Hippy Chick bath bomb is £1.90 which I personally think is a lot of money to pay for a bath bomb anyway, but thought as a treat I would pay it as a one off, but for something that was such a disappontment I feel it money totally wasted. I wouldn't recommend the Hippy Chick bath bomb at all, in fact the only nice thing about it is that it is cute! Thank you for reading my review.

      -

You may have noticed from my reviews that I am a bit of a Lush fan (a bit being an understatement!) and I am always on the look out for a bit of a Lush bargain so when Easter rolled around and Lush released a new ballistic by the name of Hippy Chick I was more than pleased to see it only cost £1.85 - bargain! This is the cheapest item in the Lush ballistic range. This is definately one of the cutest ballistics Lush have created. It is pale yellow and shaped like a little chick. The Hippy Chick is scented with a real citrussy scent. The scent is actually the Lush scent Happy Hippy (which is usually a shower gel) in ballistic form. The scent is a mixture of grapefruit, bergamot and frankincense. It is very zingy and refreshing and great for a "wake me up" scent. I was looking forward to using this ballistic as I love the ballistics which make you feel all fresh and awake as well as leaving your skin feeling clean from the citrus. I dropped this ballistic into the bath and watched it fizz away quite quickly. I was disappointed with the colour it turned the water as it was barely yellow. It hardly changed the colour at all. Unfortunately the disappointment didn't end there. Once in the bath, the scent of this ballistic disappeared almost completely. It was so faint that it was more or less pointless to call it a scented ballistic. After I got out of the bath I was very disappointed. I couldn't smell anything on my skin and my skin also felt dry and tight. My skin felt so bad that I had to moisturise which I never do when I get out of the bath. The only good thing about this ballistic was its shape which was very cute and my daughter really liked it. Thankfully, this waste of time ballistic was only available for a limited period. I personally wouldn't recommend it and if you see it floating about on eBay or the Lush forum, I would just give it a miss.

      A poor quality ballistic

As most of my family and friends know I have a love of Lush I tend to get quite a few goodies at various times of the year. This Easter I was incredibly fortunate and my aunt and uncle sent me a little parcel full of the Easter goodies which had been brought out specifically for this Easter. I am now just using these items as my Lush stash is quite large! Last night I was on my own and it was the perfect time to have a nice relaxing bath and try out a new Easter item. I opted for Hippy Chick as it was the first one I picked out my gift box. Hippy Chick is as you would imagine in the shape of a chick and is pale yellow in colour and has a little orange beak. The ballistic isn't too big but it is of course unlike most ballistics with regard to its chick like shape. It is flat on one side and is rounded on the other. The chick doesn't have too much detail to it, you can make out the head, body, eye and beak but it is quite cute and I felt incredibly horrible having to use it! I found with Hippy Chick that it is slightly dusty in comparison to other ballistics I have used. This might be because I've had it since Easter but this was hardly a problem. Hippy Chick is based on the same zesty fragrance as Happy Hippy shower gel with its famous (or infamous!) zingy grapefruit scent. As I pulled the ballistic out of its yellow paper bag I instantly got a whiff of citrus but it was a sweet citrus unlike the bitter scent of grapefruit. Before placing it in the bath my whole bathroom was filled with this citrus fragrance which I thought was lovely as I adore Happy Hippy shower gel and grapefruits for that matter. Because of Happy Chick's shape it can be easily broken in half which means you can get two bathes out of it making it a bit better value! Only thing is when you break it in half the one half is the head which I felt a bit bad about! As soon as I placed the ballistic near the running tap it fizzed immediately and within a matter of seconds it had completely dissolved. As soon as it hits the water it releases a scent which actually reminded me of the bitter lemon drink which my Nan used to drink. So gone is the grapefruit scent and now is the bitter lemon fragrance which as nice as it is I don't really want a bath smelling of it! As with most ballistics it doesn't create any bubbles or any foam so if you do want some kind of coverage its best to add in a fragrance free bubble bath (I use Simple) as you get the bubbles without tarnishing the fragrance. However, the bubbles don't last as long as they normally would if it was used on its own but it's just a tip! There is a slight downside to Hippy Chick is that it turns the bath water yellow which happens to resemble dark urine (sorry to be so crude!). So there I am in a bath with odd coloured water which wasn't pleasant to look at and with no bubbles whatsoever. I have to say I was unimpressed. I would of felt better if the gorgeous grapefruit scent stayed around but as it became more and more like bitter lemon I was being put off gradually. So post bath and my skin certainly wasn't moisturised but then I wasn't expecting it to be so that was hardly a problem. What was more noticeable was the lack of scent. I thought the lemon scent would stay on the skin as it was quite prominent in the bath but there was no trace of any sort of scent of my skin which slightly disappointed me as most of Lush's ballistics leave a scent behind. As soon as I was dry and I washed the bath out the scent that once filled the bathroom had vanished as if Hippy Chick had never been used. ** What Lush Says ** "You'll want to do the Hippy Hippy Chick with our refreshing grapefruit-scented Bath Bomb. We've just hatched this brand new shape and paired it with the zingy fragrance of our Happy Hippy shower gel. Perfect for getting chicks of every age into the bath tub, they'll be lining up to use this bird bath. Shower person? You can use it as an Emotibomb too!" ** Ingredients ** Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Grapefruit Oil (Citrus grandis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), Frankincense Oil (Boswelia carterii), Water (Aqua), *Limonene, Perfume, FD&C Yellow No. 5, D&C Orange No. 4. ** Price ** £2.95 per chick ** Overall ** I'm really disappointed with this ballistic as I was hoping for something fresh and zesty instead I got a ballistic which a quick to go scent but leaving a horrid coloured water behind. For me I'm glad this was a limited edition (it is no longer available) as I certainly won't be buying or using it again! Not one I would recommend even if you can get two baths from it!

After a recent trip to York, and after the obligatory visit to my new favourite shop Lush, I came across this delightful creature and knew that it would go down a storm at home with my children. The product I will now review is - "Hippy chick bath ballistic". After having a whole set of bath ballistics off my little sister for Christmas, (thanks sweetie poppet!), I have become a real fan, so my husband decided that for mothers day he would treat me to another set, this being the case however my children didn't want to e left out, hence the purchase of this adorable little thing! The thing that initially drew me to this was the scent, which for anyone that has frequented a Lush shop before is a strange thing to say, the smell in the shops is so strong it is difficult to distinguish between products, but this one was much stronger in smell. On first sniff this to me smells of lemon sherbet, so as a gift for a chid I knew this would be perfect, and as for skin irritability both of my kids have helped themselves to mummies secret "stash" before and have no problems, the only thing I do insist on is that they break the ballistics or bubble bars into 3 - 4 pieces, this still gives enough for a relaxing bath experience. The second thing that drew me of course was the format this particular ballistic comes in, this being a bright yellow chick with an orange beak, this I think is a product available due to it being nearly Easter, but in my opinion would be ideal all year round! To use you simply run a bath and drop in the ballistic, or in my case a piece of ballistic! Once dropped into the water the ballistic immediately fizzes furiously dispensing mounds of yellow froth and changing the colour of the water to a subtle yellow sheen, though with a whole ballistic I would imagine the water be completely the colour of lemon sherbets! The smell is delicious, though after reading the blurb on the bag it came home in I was surprised to find that this is not actually lemon but grapefruit scented with added frankincense and citrus scents too, this makes for a truly lovely scented product. Skin wise my children's sensitive skin has not been affected, and they have left the bath smelling fresh and clean, personally my experience was as good, but my skin felt much softer after leaving the bath. Price wise this will set you back £1.85 which a decent enough price compared to some of the other products available. For more information visit - www.lush.co.uk Thanks for reading x

Lush Hippy Chick Bath Ballistic Description: Manufacturer: Lush / Type: Bath Salt. www.lush.co.uk Oh my goodness, just when I thought that I couldn't love Lush any more, I saw these adorable Easter treats! They are little bath ballistics shaped like chicks and they are incredibly cute. These sweet little yellow babies are the perfect Easter gift, either for yourself or someone you know. Be careful though, they are limited edition and won't be around for very long so you may want to stock up! Anyone who has read any of my earlier reviews (thanks so much, I really appreciate all reads, rates and comments!) will probably already know that I am a huge fan of Lush. If you are not familiar with brand then you may initially think that they are a little bit expensive. This is true but it is worth knowing that they make hand made cosmetics from only natural ingredients. They never test on animals and ensure that they only use suppliers who don't either. They also support loads of charities and projects worldwide, details of which can be found on their website, along with products and ingredients. You can shop online and also locate your nearest shop if you are unsure where to find them. Another great benefit of shopping online is that you can purchase from the Lush Retro range, which is a list of products which were previously discontinued but are not available to buy online - meaning that you can still pick up some of your old favourites. In case you have never tried a Bath Ballistics, they are based on the same idea as bath bombs and are a solid ball shaped mass of bath salts. To use, simply run a warm bath then drop them in and watch them go nuts, fizzing their way round in the water for ages, releasing their fab scent and colour. They will then soften and scent the water until eventually they have dissolved leaving the water and the bathroom smelling fabulous. This little chick will cost you £1.85 and is suitable for vegans. This ballistic fizzes away and quickly turns your bathwater yellow though it does make you feel a little sad to watch the chick dissolving! It isn't the biggest ballistic available but certainly packs a punch and fills the room with the deliciously invigorating aroma of grapefruit and frankincense. The perfume is citrusy but also has a lovely exotic undertone to it which leaves me feeling awake and happy. I have sensitive skin and had no issues using this ballistic. It has a gorgeous fruity scent which reminds me of fresh grapefruit juice combined with something a little spicy and intriguing. It is perfect for using first thing in the morning as it makes me feel really alert, and the yummy fragrance lasts for ages on skin after drying too. Having said that, it smells so good that you may not want to get out of the bath, so is perhaps best enjoyed when you have as much time as you like to relax and chill out. This little Easter chick is delightful, it looks great, smells amazing and softens and scents the bathwater. My skin feels softened and pampered when I get out of the bath and I feel great too. I will certainly be stocking up on these and may just get some for friends and family too....if I can bear to part with them! Ingredients are as follows (taken from the Lush website) Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Grapefruit Oil (Citrus paradisi), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), Frankincense Oil (Boswellia carterii), Water (Aqua), *Limonene, Perfume, Colour 19140, Colour 15510,} *Occurs naturally in essential oils

            Recommended for hangovers!

I love all things Lush and last time I was in there I decided to purchase a few of their limited edition Easter products. One of the products I chose was this Hippy Chick bath ballistic. At only £1.85 it is one of the cheapest in the range and is coloured yellow, in the shape of a proper cute litte chick. Hippy Chick smells really citrusy and refreshing. It contains grapefruit oil, bergamot oil and frankincense oil and is suitable for vegans. Lush say on their website: For chicks everywhere, we've made a zesty grapefruit ballistic. The refreshing scents of frankincense and citrus will perk up baths as the birdy fizzes away. Drop it in when you're in need of a spring in your step. It's clucking great! I have to admit I was rather unsure when I was actually going to use this ballistic, as I normally like to have baths in the evening to relax, and this one sounded like it would be more suitable for a morning bath to wake you up. However, my problem was solved when I woke up this morning considerably hungover, having gone to the pub straight after lectures at 3pm yesterday to celebrate a coursemate's birthday and not come home until two. It struck me that a Hippy Chick bath might be just what I needed to pep me up and prepare me for getting on with some work! So I ran the bath and dropped Hippy Chick in, whereupon he fizzed pleasantly and turned the bath a bright shade of yellow. I must admit I am always rather wary of yellow baths, as they make me feel as though I am bathing in my own wee, however this water had a distinct green tinge to it, and no urine I've ever seen has been green! Unlike with some bath products, the refreshing citrusy smell stayed strong even when the ballistic was dissolved in water. I had a nice bath and stayed there for about twenty minutes. When I got out and got ready I definitely felt more refreshed and alert, my sensitive skin hadn't been irritated by the ballistic at all, and my skin in fact felt quite soft, which rarely happens with ballistics (except for Butterball). I put some body lotion on the top but I could still smell the citrus scent. I definitely recommend this ballistic, although it won't be around for long so snap one up quickly before they go! I would definitely buy it again if it was around more. It's not one I'd use frequently as I rarely have baths in the morning, but for those occasions this ballistic is really handy!

A zesty smelling chick shaped bath ballistic

I love this time of year when there are so many Lush products to try you simply don't know where to start first. A very good friend of mine recently had a baby and her me time is now when she gets am hour off from her husband to have a bath, a luxury she always looks forward too now. So because I am such a nice person, I treated her to some Lush products after she had given birth to help her relax and wind down. Naturally this meant that I also got to spend some of my well earned money on myself because whilst I also love to spend hours in the bath, work is currently so hectic that it is very rare that I get to spend time doing the things I enjoy. So Valentines Day has been and gone, along with Mothers Day but just around the corner is Easter and that means Lush bring out their limited edition Easter products and it is a few of these that I bought. The first being The Bath Ballistic which is shaped like a chick and very Easter looking being all bright yellow and lovely smelling also helps of course, along with the fact I love Bath Ballistics particularly from Lush. Why do I love Lush Bath Ballistics? Well, I spending an hour or so chest deep in hot bubbled water with a glass of chilled wine for me is the perfect way to relax and chill out, as I have mentioned my job is pretty hectic and demanding, so relaxing and chilling out is a must otherwise I would become even more demented. For those of you who are not aware, a Bath Ballistic is often a tennis ball shaped bath bombs which will be made up of bicarbonate of Soda and packed full of essential oils, which give off wonderful aromas, but more recently Lush have used their imagination to come up with some rather funky shaped Bath Ballistics like my recent purchase. This fact alone for me makes them stand out a country mile amongst the competition of walking into your High Street stores like Boots or Superdrug where you would walk out with a bottle of something rather boring looking. So whilst Hippy Chick is aptly named because it is an Easter related product it also smells very citrusy o, he is also round and fat a rather sumo wrestler shaped but he is a cute looking Ballistic. This ballistic is one of the smaller sized ones that Lush sell and it is similar in size to Honey Bun and Dorothy which are both new products within the Easter range and it will only cost you £1.85 which is a little cheaper than some of the more popular and well known ballistics such as Think Pink that Lush stock. One of the reasons I bought Hippy Chick was because it sounded like something I definitely needed having got to the too tired to care mood and that was "For chicks everywhere, we've made a zesty grapefruit ballistic. The refreshing scents of frankincense and citrus will perk up baths as the birdy fizzes away. Drop it in when you're in need of a spring in your step. It's clucking great!" and because it made me chuckle, I bought it. When it comes to using your Ballistic, I have always found that Lush are really helpful when it comes to helping you with some hints and tips on how best to use them. In this case and with most Ballistics it is suggested that you place it into a bath a of running water, so like an excited child I got my Ballistic and did just as I was told to do. Once the tap is running at a nice warm temperature or in my case very warm because I like hot steamy baths, you simply watch it fizz away on its own, spinning round in the water fizzing away to itself slowly turning your water into a pastel pink colour. The fizzing is due to the fact the main ingredient in all Bath Ballistics is Sodium Bicarbonate. Once the Ballistic has fizzed away into the water I was ready to get into my yellowy coloured bubble filled bath to relax, the water wasn't quite the bright yellow I had imagined it to be but it is still yellow and slightly lacking in the bubbles department but then on the whole Ballistics are not designed to create copious amounts of bubbles, that job is the for Bubble Bar Slices. The best thing however about this Ballistic is its aroma and that is released as instantly as the Ballistic hits the water and begins to fizz away in the water. The smells that are released are best described as tangy in an orange sense but fruity and they fill the bathroom with their wonderful aroma and this smelt so wonderful that I couldn't wait to get into my bath. Like other products within the Ballistic range, the aroma from this lingered for a good few hours after my bath, filing the house beautifully and this again for me is one of the reason I am also a fan of these products. The smell emanating from this Ballistic stems from the three main ingredients - firstly there is Bergamot Oil which is great for creating a more relaxed and happy feeling and is therefore really good for the treatment of depression, stress, tension and more importantly at this time of the year it is marketed for helping with SAD (Seasonal Affected Disorder) and only today I saw an advert for it in the Natural Health store not far from where I live. However on the Skin Bergamot Oil is known for its antiseptic qualities that can be useful for skin complaints ranging from acne and oily skin to eczema, psoriasis and cold sores. Secondly we have Grapefruit oil which is quite the dominant aroma for me and works similarly to Bergamot oil in that it livens your mood and helps with stress, headaches, tension, fatigue and depression but it also helps to clear greasy congested oily skin and most interestingly it helps with water retention. The third and final essential oil is Frankincense Oil which again like the two previous ingredients promotes a wonderfully calming effect on the mind and helps with general skin tone by reducing oil from greasy skin and helps to rejuvenate ageing skin. If you want to know what other ingredients can be found within this product then you can usually find them on the Lush website or if you ask in any Lush store, like I do, you get a detailed reply as to what is contained within the product and why it is in there. So as soon as my bath was running, I simply chucked this Hippy Chick Ballistic into the water whole, if a Ballistic is a lot larger than this one, I have often cut them in half to get value for money, the second it comes into contact with running water it begins to fizz and rushes round the bath whizzing away and dissolves within a matter of seconds into nothingness leaving behind the soft aromas of grapefruit. Once in the water the aroma is a lot stronger as it swirls around the room within the steam rising from the bath and almost immediately I began to relax and unwind taking in the smells and allowing myself to forget the long hours I had just done at work and instead look forward to a relaxing weekend of sleeping and doing nothing in general other than slurping on some wine and reading my crime thriller novel. With products like this Ballistic you can often notice a slight oiliness on the top of the water, which is the essential oils working their magic helping you to relax and most essential oils are kind to the skin, the ones included within this Ballistic are no different. After drying my skin it felt lovely and soft and well moisturised to the point where my fingers just glided over the skin and obviously there was a lovely fruity smell to my skin. I also have extremely sensitive skin and often find that I am limited in which products I can use, for example I am allergic to The Body Shop shower creams and gels, but with Lush I haven't had any problems whatsoever, so that means I can now try everything without having to worry about breaking out into an itchy rash. So would I recommend this product? I absolutely would without a shadow of a doubt, I admit I am quite bias when it comes to Lush and I love more products than loathe. Also after emptying out the bath water there was nothing left behind clinging to the bottom or the sides of the bath which is always a bonus because with similar products I have found they leave marks around the bath which take a long time to remove. Finally with this product as I mentioned I was ready wide awake and raring to go once again, I was much more with it whether that was because I was so exhausted before bathing or whether it was down to this Ballistic I couldn't tell you either way, but I felt much better. **Extra Information** If anyone wants to investigate Lush further to see what ingredients are used for this or any other products then you simply go to www.lush.co.uk which will give you the UK version of their website

Hippy Chick is one of Lush's new products which is limited edition and will only be around in store til Easter and Online for the same period for sometimes a little longer until stocks run out. It is shaped like a chick and smells of Grapefruits. What is it? Hippy Chick is a bath ballistic, which is shaped like a chick but can come in any shape, size or colour. You drop the ballisitc into a bath when you have ran the water, just before you step in. Immediatley it will start to fizz and release essentials oils and ingredients into the bath which help to change your mood, be it to relax you, destress or uplift and they alsdo moistrise your skin and leave it feeling smooth, clean, soft and smelling divine. Some ballistics are filled with objects such as mini rose buds or glitter. Simply relax for 20 minutes or so and enjoy. Product basics This product doesn't have a specified weight but looks around 100g which is one of the smaller sized bath ballistics, but because of this it comes in at a very reasonably priced £1.85. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans alike and is not tested on animals. It is classed as a 'naked' product as it comes with no packaging. You can take it away in one of Lush's recycled, reusable and compost friendly paper bags to avoid it breaking. Ingredients Grapefruit Oil gives this product a great scent and is great for wakening up your senses and leave you bright eyed and bushy tailed. Bergamot oil is great for uplifting moods and works well with citrus scents. Frankincense will help perk you up. My opinion This product is shaped like a little yellow easter chick with a cute orange beak and is so adorable. I think the price is really good however I think if this product was bigger it would last longer in the bath and have a better effect. It smells just like 'Happy Hippy' shower gel with a gorgeous fresh grapefruit scent. It is perfect when you need perking up so is particularly good in the morning, but not the best idea for before bed. My skin felt really soft and clean and the bathroom was full of the scent of grapefruits and the smell stayed on my skin for hours after my bath. It was a fun and fruity bath but a shame it's only around for Easter!
