I am a bit of an L'Occitane fan so when I do get the chance of a treat or people ask me what I would like as a gift I often suggest things from L'Occitane. This ultra-rich foam bath was one such gift.
For those of you unfamiliar with this brand L'Occitane is a French company with its roots in the Province region. They try to use natural ingredients within their products and try where possible to also use organic products if possible. They try to keep to a minimum artificial preservatives and silicones within their goods. If you want to know more about them they have a very good website http://uk.loccitane.com. Within the UK they sell their goods either over the internet, in a few L'Occitane boutiques up and down the country and some of their goods are available via QVC
The bath foam has won a Sunday Times beauty award in 2011 so promises a lot such as a gentle fragrance luxurious bubbles and to leave your skin hydrated and soft and supple. Given this is £20 for 500mls compared to my normal £1-2 bottle of Radox or supermarket own brand I had huge hopes for this product and it hasn't let me down.
The cream is lovely and thick and this makes it great to dispense easily from the bottle as you really only need a small amount of the foam to produce a lot of soft bubbles. I find that it foams up really well and the bubbles unlike cheaper brands I use actually stay for the whole length of time I get to soak in the bath which with some tops up can be up to 20 minutes if the children stay in bed! The scent that gets released when you run the bath is very gentle and mild. I personally think it smells very similar to baby powder with a hint of the Shea Butter smell. I personally find this very pleasant and a good indication of how gentle this is for my skin. Soaking in the bath it feels very rich and does feel as if the Shea Butter is penetrating my skin. Once out of the bath and dried I can notice a difference with my skin it does feel softer to the touch and often when I use this I don't feel the need to add a body cream or moisturiser as my skin feels nourished without an further additions. This softness does last throughout the night and the next day. I personally don't have any dry skin issues apart from occasionally my feet and elbows so find this bath foam a rich treat and not one that is necessary to rehydrate dry skin. As you only need a small amount a bottle can last a good month or more and I keep it out of my sons way to make sure its just my treat. The sticking point for me is the price yes it is lovely bath foam yes it leaves my skin soft and supple and smelling nice but is it worth the extra £18 I am uncertain. If I had money to burn then I would buy it more often, but I find that the Sanctuary bath foams actually produce a similar softness for my skin or even my sons Little Me bath foams give great and similar results for a fraction of the price. Whilst I have loved trying this one I will ask for a more fragrance bath foam in future from the L'Occitane range. Due to the cost to benefit ratio for me I am just giving it 3 stars.
