“ Brand: B&Q / Type: Accessory „
I purchased these 4 weeks ago from a local B&Q in the North West.
The fork, tongs and Spatula are all excellent sizes - so they are perfect for being able to stand slightly back from the bbq.
The items appear well made and hard wearing - but B&Q state that the items are dishwasher safe, the first few times I used them we handwashed them after use - purely for ease at the time. However last week we put the items in the dishwasher and the handles on all of the utensils came our discoloured.
I am not sure as to why this has happened!? The strength of the utensils has not been damaged, they still feel very hardwearing and useable, but I would not advise that you put these items in the dishwasher..
For the price I am very happy with this pack of 3 bbq utensils and they have been much better than some of the similar priced packs you can buy from places such as B&M Bargains.
B and q 3 piece bbq tool set
With the arrival of my new barbecue, and being all set for whatever summer we may or may not have, I needed the tools.
I bought these in my local B and Q store mainly because they were the lowest priced implements there, and I know I am dreadful about taking care of bbq things! This set cost £5 and is also available online but unless buying plenty of things I wouldn't bother because of the postage costs.
There are three bbq suitable implements: a fork, tongs, and a spatula. The tongs are a good size and when I have used them to put things onto the bbq and take food off, they really do grab hold of the food items and sausages etc aren't consigned forever to the flames. The fork is two pronged with the ends of the fork being quite sharp and spikey; definitely could be a dangerous implement but great for spearing firmer food and removing from the iron. Similarly the prong is like a fish slice but with a very flat edge so that burgers and such like can be removed from the grill without bits falling off and without them breaking up, which has happened before with more expensive products.
All of the items are wooden handled with little hanging things on the prongs and the fork so that they can be hung on the side of the bbq. The tongs are double handled so these can be hung off the side bar without the need for a bit of cord.
The implements are a good length at about 45 cm long,so there is no need for fingers to get too close to the heat and the flames although as ever care should be taken! They are made of steel with, as mentioned before, wooden handles.i was a tad dubious about the wood but so far they haven't been charred or discoloured.
I wash these by hand as I couldn't see if they are dishwasher proof or not but I assume the handle may come away from the metal if they are subjected to a dishwasher. They do however clean easily with normal washing up liquid and look good as new.
These have been a really good buy. They are well made, sturdy, very cheap for this type of thing and so far haven't burnt on the handles.
I would recommend them to anyone looking for good value bbq implements which will last for ages.
