My daughter was bought this electronic "diary" for christmas, and it has actually turned out to be one of her favourite presents! She is 6, and her favourite thing to do is write little notes and draw pictures. This toy seems to appeal to her creativity, and really engaged her interest from first play! The size of the diary is good - it needs to be held with two hans, but is still very portable compared to laptop-style toys she has previously had. You have to say a word to access the diary, and it then pops open and play starts immediately. The popping open is very appealing to my daughter - she loves it! A chirpy voice accompanied by annoying electronic music greets you, and encourages you to "come on!". The buttons are easy for kids to navigate - there are 6 main menu buttons which are pink and flower shaped. The options are: * Diary (create one or read previous ones) * Pets * Data * Games * Music * Settings Some of these have various options within them, so there is quite a lot to do. My daughter particularly enjoys the word games and the diary function. She has also used the pets one. It is easy for her to understand what to do so a great toy for independent play. Because of the size of the toy, it is great to take out and about e.g. in the car. It seems well made. My only negative points are the annoying music (it goes on and on throughout play - it doesn't seem to bother my daughter but is very unnecessary in my opinion; and the fact that the screen is quite small with a very basic black and white display.
