I puchased the Tomy Forget Me Not Photo Album from Amazon at a price of £14.99 just over a year ago. It can currently be bought for just over £11 at either Amazon or Tesco Direct. The photo album is recommended as being suitable from 6 months. It requires 4 AAA batteries, which have lasted very well as we have not yet had to change them. The photo album is in the design on a butterfly, the butterfly's orange body is the centre of the album, with the pages representing wings. The album is made of plastic, with a rustling fabric tab attached to each page. The front cover is blue with a small mirror, the pages inside are blue, green, pink and yellow. Each of the eight pages has a large space for a photo and a message can be recorded on each page. The messages play automatically when you open a page, first the left side will play and then the right. There are left and right side buttons, which light up independently to show which persons message is being played, the buttons can be pressed to repeat the message. The album also plays a "tinkling" sound affect when it is closed. We bought the Forget Me Not Album for our son's first Christmas, he was 6 months old at the time. Before we wrapped it up for Christmas we added the photo's, which are very easy to slot into place and are coverd by a plastic sheet, which keeps them nice and clean. We asked each person in the photo's to record their own message, this is done easily by holding down the small button on the butterfly's body and then pressing the button above the person's photograph. You have a maximum of 8 seconds per message, which in my opinion is plenty of time. You can re-record the messages at any time in the same way, and because two buttons have to be pressed at the same time it's unlikely for messages to be accidently deleted. The album is a nice size for a toddler to hold and easy for them to turn the pages but a little too big and heavy for most 6 month olds. However, this is not a toy that I would have let my son use alone until more recently (he's now 21 months) as I liked to sit with him and talk about the people on the pages as the recordings did actually seem to frighten him the first few times. Once he got used to the album and seemed to understand it better he started to love it, he now points to the photo's, says the name of the person and laughs at the messages. He can easily turn the pages to who he wants to see and presses the buttons to repeat the messages he chooses. The album can also be opened to a desired page and stood up to be used as a photo frame. The only thing missing from this album is a choice to turn off the recordings, I think that option would have helped to familiarise my son with the pictures at first, without scaring him with the recordings. A volume control could have also been a benefit. This is definitely a purchase I would recommend, I think it makes a great gift for any young child but I do suggest sitting with your child for the first few uses!
This is a really good photo album that my son loves to look. I paid £20 for this which is quite expensive for a photo album but as we have family that live abroad and a grandparent that is no longer with us I wanted something that my son would enjoy looking at and would recognise his family. I think the best thing about this photo album is that you can record a message for each photo which I think is lovely and is such a good idea. It makes it so much fun for my son. We have even put a photo of our dog in it and recorded the dog barking so every time he turns to that page he hears the dog. He thinks it is so funny and I think he will also really love it as he gets older and understands who is who in it. It is a good photo album for kids because it is very bright and colourful and the pages are very easy to turn. It is very sturdy and good quality and the only negative I have about it is that it is quite heavy but my son has dropped it a few times and it still works perfectly so I am happy about that. This is an excellent idea for a toy and is very simple but effective as I think kids do love looking at pictures and this is something that is just theirs and the sounds on it make it fun and entertaining. I would definately recommend this photoalbum and think it is a great idea for families who live far apart or have lost loved ones.
I bought this for my second child for his first Christmas present when he was nearly 7 months old. He was just at that stage where he was sitting and wanting to grab things, and this looked ideal. It has space to put in 8 photographs, and also for each double page spread you can record a message that can be played for that photograph. I know babies really like looking at faces, so this is ideal for that, and also, my husbands parents live 250 miles away. I wanted a way for my baby to be familiar with them on a more regular basis. Before christmas we selected some suitable pictures to put in it so it didn't look really boring. On the first double page spread we put a picture of the baby, and his older brother. Each page we tried to go for really good quality upper body shots so the features were large and easy for a 6 month old to see and interpret. The next double page we found pictures of Mummy and Daddy, and we recorded a message. 2 more double page spreads meant we could put in pictures of both sets of grandparents, and they really enjoyed recording a little message for my son. As a book, at 6 months old he didn't really know what to do with it. The pages are very thick but also a little stiff to turn. He could use it with help. As he got bigger he got used to pressing the button on each page to get the message. He is now 2 and a third, and it is not a toy that comes out regularly, but when he sees it in the toy box he does get it out and press all the buttons so he still uses it now. It is a very robust toy. It has been dropped several times, and even survived a trip down the stairs which i was sure would break it completely. There are not many electronic toys you could say that about. It was about £20 when i bought it, and it seems a much more reasonable price at £15 on amazon now. It would make a lovely present for a small child. The only fault i have found with it is the plastic sleeves that hold the photos. When my kids have held the book roughly this has squished out through the frame and then i have found it really hard to remove the sleeves if i had wanted to change the photos. They were also quite stiff to get in and our with the photos in, so for this i would remove one star. I can see me buying one of these at Christmas for my soon to be born neice as it has been a lovely thing to have.
My son recieved this as a 1st Christmas present and he is now 2 and a half and still loves it. You can put 8 different photos in it and also record a different short message for each page / photo. We chose pictures of his mummy, daddy, brother, grandparents etc and each of us recorded his a little message. We even put a photo of my mum's dogs in one of the slots and recorded them barking as he loves them doing that. We set it all up before he opened it on the day and he absolutely loved it! As each page is turned the book automatically plays the recorded sound to each page you are viewing. The photos are in clear plastic slots which makes them easy to keep clean and the toy as a whole is designed like a butterfly in beautiful bright colours with a happy smiley face at the top. The batteries are easy to put in but can come loose if the toy is banged too hard. It has stopped working after being banged to hard, but removing and replacing the batteries fixed the problem. On the whole it would make a brilliant and thoughtful gift for your own children or someone elses.
The Tomy forget me not photo album is great! I had seen it in a shop and knew I had to get it for my sons firtst birthday. He loves flicking through books, he loves toys that talk to him, he loves his family and he is starting to make sense of words and pictures so why not combine it all into one activity? THATS what this is! It has coloured plastic frames as pages with a transparent plastic sheet in between for you to slot photos of loved ones. With each turn of the page a magical sound is played and with the press of a button you can record your own message on each page! Or even better get the relatives pictured to do it! The book is very easy to use. I worked out how to record and delete messages in minutes of playing with it - without using instructions. I have placed a family members photo on each page and recorded myself saying that persons name over and over in the hope that my son will look, listen and learn all at once (until I see them and they can re-record it themselves) but until then i have to put up with the embarrassment my son showing guests the book and having to listen to myself talking like a loonie! A great buy!
This is a Tomy forget me not photo album - it claims to be the first ever "talking photo album" for babies. I saw this advertised on the television and knew straight away that it would make the perfect gift for my daughter - from quite a young age she would point at the photographs that i have around the house and say who was in them so i figured that her having her own book of photos would make her very happy! She loves to turn pages over in her hard back books on her own and this is not dissimilar to that with the bonus of getting a special message from someone in the photo when she does! It soon became her favourite toy! Unlike the photos i have this book makes them pretty indestructible so she can give the photos as many kisses as she likes and the pages wipe clean with a damp cloth! It holds 8 photos and amazingly you have the ability to record a message with each photo - there is a mirror on the front of the butterfly shaped album which is perfect for your child to see their own reflection in and then various colourful photo slots within the book. When you turn the page to another picture the messages are played automatically and there are also 2 cute sound effects when the photo album is shut. Photo album also stands up on its own so also doubles as a photo frame Requires 2 x AAA batteries (included) in the box. This is currently available from Amazon for 15.77 which i think is very reasonable as it feels very sturdy and i think that the idea is very origional. My daughter loves books and photos so this will suit her perfectly. Product Information Length: 34 centimetres Height: 24 centimetres Width: 8 centimetres weight: 800 grams Model Number: 2074 The toy comes in bright colours so it is visually stimulating for your baby as well as looking pretty. It is aimed at children from 6 months but think that it will last for along time!
I have bought this forget me not toy for my son for Christmas. I am just in the process of putting in the photographs. It is made by Tomy and it is basically a mini photo album for babies in the shape of a very colourful butterfly with a cute friendly little face and rubber antennas. There are 8 pages where you simply slide in photographs; the pages represent the butterfly's wings. These pages are all different bright colours and each page has a crinkly tab to make it a little easier for babies to turn the pages. The front cover has a small round safety mirror. I think that the really special thing about this photograph album is that you can record a different voice message for each photograph. This is easy to do, all you need to do is hold down the button and wait for it to bleep, and then you record your message. I think this is a lovely gift for a baby, especially if you live far from friends and family, or if your baby goes to childcare in the day, as this can be taken along. As a child care worker, I think this would be fantastic, especially if you have a baby or toddler who is just settling into day care, as it can act as a little comfort for them. I cant wait for my baby boy to have this on Christmas day! The photo album requires 2 x AAA batteries which are included. Recommended from 6 months. The Cost: I think that this toy is quite expensive, I paid 19.99 from Argos. I found out yesterday that there are in the 3 for 2 offer in Boots. I wish I had looked there first.
I brought this for my daughter as a christmas present when she was 20 months. It cost me £19.99 from Argos. I haven't seen anywhere that does them much cheaper than this, they are all around the twenty pound mark. It's packaged in a nice big colourful box and has an open front so you can test it out. The photo album requires 2 x AAA batteries which are included. The idea of the Tomy photo album is that you put photos of your babies loved ones in and they can record a message for him or her. As far as I know the Tomy photo album is the first of its kind for babies so it makes for a really unique and special gift. I put photos and messages in my daughters photo album and wrapped it up. She couldn't believe her eyes when she opened it - all her favoruite people in one book! and they were talking to her! She's almost 2 now and she'll quite happily sit there for ages just smiling, talking and playing with it. I'm just a bit gutted I didn't get it sooner. The photo album holds up to 8 photos. The photos are slipped into the top of the album and each one is protected with a transparent plastic film. Recording messages is really easy - there is a button on the centre of the album and each page has their own button, just press the centre button at the same time as you press the button for the page you want to record a message on. When you hear the beep you can record your message. Messages can last between 10 and 15 seconds. When the photo album is opened the first message plays automatically and moves on to the next message. The same will happen when you turn the next pages. If your child wants to choose a certain message to play they can just press the button on their chosen page (it wont erase the message because you need to press the 2 buttons together to do that). The button on the page also flashes to show which photo is playing the message. When the photo album is closed it makes a little camera clicking noise and a baby giggle noise. The photo album itself is all different colours (which means it's unisex) and made of tough plastic (robust and easy to wipe clean). There are 8 pages which are seperated with crinkly fabric tabs which makes it easy for little fingers to turn the pages. On the front cover is a little round mirror and the album is in the shape of a butterfly. The bottom of the photo album is flat so when it's not in use it can also double up into a stand up photo frame. The only downside I can think of is that it's a little on the heavy side. My daughter is fine with it but it might be a little awkward for younger babies. This is a must have for any little boy or girl. It is total value for money and will last them far beyond their baby and toddling years. It's a great way for them to learn and remember special people and loved ones. It's suitable from 6 months onwards and is available at all good toy retailers.
I was delighted on Christmas morning when I opened one of my 6 month old son's presents to find the Forget Me Not Photo Album by Tomy. My family is spread throughout the country so I thought this was an ideal solution to stop my son forgetting them and perhaps being strange around them. The Forget Me Not Photo Album is the shape of a bright friendly butterfly. The spine of the book is the body of the butterfly, the happy face of the butterfly is always visible. The pages are the wings of the butterfly and are a number of bright, eye catching colours. There is a crinkly tab on each page which makes it really easy for little hands to use! The album holds 8 photos, as well as having a mirrored cover for baby to see themselves (something I know my son loves). Each photo can have a message recorded to go with it. This is done very easily by pressing the button at the side and speaking after the beep. The message is then automatically played when the page is opened. As the photo album is made from hard plastic it can also be displayed opened, so doubles as a photo frame for your child when they aren't using it. I really like this photo album, as does my son! The colours used are lovely and bright, very stimulating and eye catching so really grabs my son's interest. It is sturdy (essential for a rough and tumble toddler) as well as being wipe clean, essential for my mucky pup! It is very easy to assemble the album, both putting in the pictures and the message. The message is also very clear when repeated. My son finds it very easy to look through the album, the tabs are easy for him to grab and turn so he doesn't get frustrated and can play with it himself. I love that he can see and hear his favourite people whenever he likes. The only slight down side is the weight of it. For a baby book it is quite heavy, but to have the recording ability I suppose it has to be the size and weight it is. Also, although it is useful to be able to record over and over again, I think it is a bit too easy to accidentally record over a message, especially with an older child. For example I worry about a message my late gran recorded on my son's album as it could never be replaced if lost. All in all I think this is a wonderful baby toy, especially for those who have family and friends who don't live close by.
We have bought this talking album just recently as we are about to adopt a young child and this is an ideal album to introduce the child to us and other members of our family, before he actually meets us, as then he will get to recognise our voices as well as our pictures. We read about using this album to introduce ourselves on an adoption website, but I think it would also be ideal for any young child. It is a bit more fun than just an ordinary album. My friend who had birth children also bought the album for her two. It was very easy to use and record the messages. These can be changed easily so the album can be changed time and again. It is a hard plastic so also very hardwearing, again good for young hands! The bright colours and Caterpillar design make it very appealing for young children. Would definately recommend this album.
First ever "talking photo album" for babies ensuring loved ones are never too far away. Holds up to 8 pages with the unique ability to record a special message for each photo, a great way for distant relatives to become familiar faces and voices as baby grows up as they can hear their messages at the touch of a button. A coloured button at the top of each page shows when a message is being recorded and when it's being played back. There are also two cute sound effects that are triggered when the album is shut......an authentic camera click and a baby giggle.
