I had been looking out for a pram arch to put on a chair I had picked up from a charity shop, which had originally had a toy bar that was missing when I bought it second hand. The ones I'd seen had cost around 15 GBP, so when I spotted this one in Toys R Us for 3.96 GBP, I snapped it up.
A pram arch is deceptively named, as they can be placed anywhere really - chairs, car seats, prams and travel cots. They are usually designed to be a universal fit, with clamps either side to allow it to be attached to anything with bars. The clamps are plastic, and despite not looking particularly sturdy, they attach the arch solidly so it has no chance of moving or coming undone.
The colour is gender neutral, with the arch itself being brown and cream stripes, and the toys attached are cream and yellow. I did wonder if the toys would capture my baby's attention as they're quite muted rather than being brightly coloured, but I needn't have worried as he was typically fascinated as he is with anything that dangles in front of him.
The product information says that this comes with 5 toys, but it actually comes with 3, although for the price I can't complain. The toys are very simple. The first is a bear on a moon crescent shape which crinkles. The second is a heart shaped cushioned mirror. And the third is a bear hanging onto a star shape which squeaks when you press it. The toys attach to the bar by a little tie with velcro, so they are removable. You can adjust the height of the toys by sticking the velcro higher or lower on the tie piece.
This product has done exactly what I wanted it to, providing a bit of interest to a chair that was missing its toy bar. The toys are washable, which is useful as my baby, like most, insists on putting anything and everything in his mouth. The velcro attaches well, but now he is stronger he can manage to pull the toys off by himself if he pulls hard enough. This doesn't really pose a problem as they are soft toys anyway. As he has got older and his attention isn't held by one toy for long anymore, I have attached other toys which have clips to the bar, and it holds heavier toys quite well too.
Although I was initially sceptical about the quality of this pram arch given that the price was so much cheaper than the others, I have been very pleased with it. Five stars from us.
