“ Brand: Mothercare / Age: 6 months / Type: Activity Toys „
I would not recommend this water activity toy from Mothercare. I thought it looked quite basic but figured it would be useful for when my son is a little older. When I used it with a 7 month old, she was less than impressed. I have used it with our 4 month old and he looks away so I guess it isn't much fun for younger babies either. It says suitable from 6 months but by that age, they expect something a bit more exciting. The toy can be used as one long tube or it will separate into 4 separate toys. It is made of plastic and brightly coloured. I find it difficult to get the parts to dry out properly. There always seems to be a bit of water left in and I am sure that eventually this is going to become really very mouldy and not healthy for a baby. The main problem with this toy is that the water passes through too quickly for it to be entertaining. Also the parts move so quickly you cannot really see what they are doing so it is a bit boring. At 6 pound this is definitely not worth it. there are far more fun and interesting bath toys on the market.
Mothercare Waterways Activity Tube................ Jack loves a bath and one thing I can really remember as a child is having so many toys in the bath and loving every minute of it. So when I was in Mothercare browsing their bath toy section I stumbled across this Activity Tube and thought it looked brilliant. The idea of seeing water working its way down a tube really appealed so even though I thought £5.99 pence was a large amount to pay for a bath toy I thought what the heck (I have saved money on my food shopping!) I might as well get it! So, £5.99 pence less in my account I went home looking forward to our bath time fun. However, I was very much disappointed when bath time came and this toy turned out to be a completely waste of money (I was planning on taking it back but just never got around to doing it). The toy is basically made of four different sections, the first being a fish like creature with holes in his head where the water can fill him up. The water then travels down holes in his belly to another section of the tube where the water spins a ball shape round to show different colours. Through holes in the bottom of this section, the water travels into the next compartment where the water spins a corkscrew type device in the centre of the section. Lastly, the water should fall through from this section into the head of an octopus where in turn the water spills out of holes in the bottoms of all his legs. The tube can also be spilt up so that the four different sections can be used on their own to pass water through. The concept is great but once you have split the four different sections up you just cant for the life of you fit them back together again so that you can use the tube as a whole. I got very frustrated trying to do it because I thought that I was the way I was doing it at first but after my partner having a go and him not being able to do it I realised it is just the way it was designed, rubbish! The four sections worked well for the short time that it was a tube and the water passed through freely and made everything spin and work, as you would expect. Unfortunately, when it came to using the pieces on their own it turned out that really there was one possibly two that were any good and these were the top and bottom sections. The two with water spinning features were totally useless on their own as the water passed through too quickly making the ball and twirl literally spin maybe the one time. The octopus and the fish are about the only two we really use but the octopus is really the main one as Jack likes the water to fall on him from the octopus's holes as it has the affect of being in the shower! The other two have been thrown in the bin as they were just clogging up valuable toy space in the bathroom net. All in all a really bad buy and I just wish I had of taken it back to Mothercare before the 30 days was up and got my £6 back. It was a fair old amount to have spent on a bath toy anyway and the fact that it is totally useless just means that I may as well of thrown my money down the drain! 0/10 is a fair score for this useless piece of junk. In fact, I may well write to Mothercare and say how disappointed I am as writing this review has really got me riled up! Do not buy it and just do not even look at it!
I bought this for my son obviously to provide him more entertainment in the bath. He loves bath time and loves to play with toys in the bath and play with the water. I thought this would be great as it can either be one long tube toy or 4 separate toys and can be swapped around a bit. However I was quite disappointed when we got to try it out that evening in the bath. The water wheel part is a waste of space as it hardly seems to go round at all and we've tried it in different orders. The pieces don't really fit back together very well once you have taken it apart the first time. So we are basically left with 3 bits left for him to play with, but he pretty much only ever pick up the bottom piece - the octopus - to play with. So all in all it was a disappointing purchase that is hardly ever played with as it doesn't really work!!!
Five fun bath activities in one! The pieces can be connected together to make one long tube, or separated for individual activities. Pour water into the tubes and watch the water spin the corkscrew, turn the wheel and sprinkle out of the octopus.
