We purchased Walter the Whale from the Mamas & Papas flagship store in Southampton before my daughter was born. I think he was around the £10 mark. Sadly they don't make him anymore but he was a firm favourite toy wise with my daughter.
My daughter used this toy alot and at one point she didn't go anywhere without it. She used to find it really amusing and always had loads of fun with him.
Walter the Whale was a pretty cute whale. Even I thought so! He was brightly coloured and covered with different fabrics, textures and things to make sounds with. If I remember rightly, he was fair size and measured around 8 inches. He was definately the perfect size for my daughter to hold on to and cuddle with. She used to hang on to him so tightly nothing would ever make her let go of him! He was also very lightweight so it was easy for her to hold without causing any strain.
Walter was made partly of a soft royal blue fabric though each section of the blue fabric was different to the next. The colour used on him really made him look more whale like. His face was made up of a cord type of material which was ridged like cord jeans and then his fins were made of that crinkly type of material which made a crinkly noise when touched - my daughter loved his fins! The sound to me is reminscent of a crisp packet! On his belly was a shiny almost reflective material and finally there was the tail which had one half of it was yellow made up of small squares, all of which were raised so that your baby would be able to run their fingers over them and feel the shapes. The other half of the tail was green in colour with a squeaker inside. My daughter loved this bit too and would continuously squeak it - sometimes I thought I had a puppy in the pram rather than a child! Also attached to the tail area was a teething ring as this toy doubles up as a teether but my daughter never used it. She used the teether part as a handle instead!
On the whale's head was a big yellow stitiched hat which turned and made a clicky noise and also had a squeaker in it.
All in all, this was a well made quality toy. The item was very detailed and highly appealing to babies. He was also stitched very well and he never ever came apart. I am sure Walter the Whale is still about in one of my daughter's toy boxes as I couldn't bear to part with him for sentimental sake.
If you do manage to track down a Walter the Whale grab him as he will become a firm favourite.
This Walter Whale was a firm favourite of mine to take out and about when my son as little as it would amuse him no end.
It is a well made toy which is brighly coloured and full of different textures to keep baby amused. The whale itself is about 6-7 inches long and is a great size for a little baby to hold onto. It is lightweight and soft so is easy to take out with you.
The whale is made from lots of different fabrics. The tummy is a shiny material, the face of the whale is made from a cord material and the fins are made from a crinkly material which makes a noisy sound when touched. The tail has tiny squares on it and these squares are raised. One half of the tail has rubber bumps covering it and the other half squeaks when pressed.
The whales hat twists round and also squeaks and there is a teething ring attached to the whales tail just for something extra to chew on!
This toy is great. It is attractive, colourful and entertaining for baby. The different textures are good for keeping their interest and the teething ring is an added bonus. It is easy to clean, just wipe it over with a damp cloth.
This toy is suitable for use from birth and my son enjoyed it for about a year . It became a staple item for packing into the day bag!
This is a lovely bright, shiney very soft toy suitable for babies from birth (bought as a Crhistmas present). My 6 month old baby boy really enjoys playing with this now especially the teething ring on the end of the whales tail as it is quite chunky and is able to give it a real good chewing. Walter has got a very shiney silver tummy and his fins are of a crinkly greeny/purple colours that make like a crackly noise. He's hat is bright yellow (velour) that squeaks and rotates. The face is purple corduroy with big eyes and his back consist of sparkly yellow, jade green, black and white checks. One half of the tail is of a shiny green colour which squeaks and the other half is a bobbly yellow material that has the teething ring stuck to it. He is about the size of a Teletubby doll so it is very easily for my son to hold him and with it being a soft toy also very light. At the moment my baby is into eating the whales hat and has just discovered that there is a squeak in the hat so has great fun bashing it about making it squeak. Definitely one of the best baby soft toys I have seen. Only 1 bad point the whale has to be surfaced washed.
Entertain your baby with Walter's play activities, dazzling colours and soft teether
