“ Brand: Jellycat / Type: Soft Toy „
We were given some beautiful baby presents for our daughter when she was born, some of which were soft toys. In fact, her cot, is half full of soft toys now, most of which she hasn't shown much interest in as yet. One soft toy however, that she seemed to like early on was this Jelly Kitten Skidaddle Giraffe which costs around £10.99 on the various internet sites. This Skidaddle Giraffe is designed with little girls in mind. The giraffe is decorated with pink and white stripes, the pattern of which seemed to catch my daughter's attention. The colours are bright and attractive and makes this a really cute baby soft toy from the JellyKitten range which seem to be growing in popularity. On each of the four legs of this giraffe there are two rings, a pink one and a white one that are attached on, so that they cannot be taken off, making this a safe toy for even young babies. The rings when hitting each other make a soft clunk noise, nothing that would disturb or waken a baby, but soft enough for baby to hear and enjoy. Along the back of the giraffe there are little bits of pink ribbon to represent the giraffe's mane, and I am sure when my daughter reaches the teething stage or when she can feel the different textures of a toy for herself, she will enjoy this. The giraffe also has a cute little face as well as a cute little tail that can be pulled. One reason that my daughter seemed to like this from any early age was that one of the benefits of it, is that it comes with a velcro strap so it can be hung from a playmat, buggy or carry cot. We hung it from her carrycot so she had something to look at when she was out and about and would give a soft rattle to keep her attention in the car. THere is one negative however of this toy however and it is to do with the velcro strap. For quite a while my daughter loved having it on her carry cot, however, it got to the stage where it was continually falling off, and ending up on the ground, and on one occasion very nearly got left behind in a car park, as it fell off the carry cot. The reason for this is that the velcro is simply not strong enough to keep together, and seems to loosen and then fall as soon as it gets knocked at all. For such a lovely toy, with a hefty enough price tag, the weak velcro strap is a little disappointing, as I have another mamas and papas toy that hangs from her carry cot via a velcro strap and I have never had to fix it at all. All in all it is a lovely cute toy for a little girl but don't rely on being able to hang it up on something for a long time!
