“ Brand: Fisher Price / Age: 12 months / Type: Ride on toys „
This is a fantastic toy for any child just starting to find their feet, my little boy had it when he was one and he's now 2 1/2 and still absolutely loves it. It plays music and you can store things in the seat Children can sit on and pull themsleves around or you can push them. My son also like to sit his teddies on and take them for a ride. It is very sturdy and chunky and there are no sharp pieces. The circus theme is lovely as it is universal and suits both boys and girls, therefore this is a toy you could use for more than one child. The wheels are very well attached and move well across all different flooring types - faster on wooden and tiled floors, watch out for your ankles! The only downside to this toy is that as an adult the songs can become quite annoying after a while!
For Christmas this year we wanted to get our 14 month old boy some kind of ride on. There are loads to choose from with prices ranging from £15 to £50. I am quite a fan of Fisher Price toys and we spotted a Fisher Price ride on in our local woolworths for about £25. It was one of the Little People range. Having a Little People set of animals we thought this would be perfect. As we were just passing through and didn't have time to buy it there and then, we made a note to pick one up next time we were in the store. Sods law, they had none left when we returned a few days later. They did however have a different one and this is what we bought and I am reviewing. It is also from the Little People range and has a circus theme. Aesthetically, this is not quite as good to look at as our original choice and seemed to be a simpler version. The price was slightly lower at £19.99 so this we expected. The ride on is in bright colours. The majority of the body is orange, with a red seat and handle bars. The wheels have red 'tyres' with yellow centres. The cab is also yellow in colour. To the front of the cab is a row of purple lights. There are two buttons just under the handle bars and the seat lifts up to reveal a small storage area. The buttons on the top when pressed play two different circus music tunes. Whilst the music is playing the lights along the front flash. The ride on had several stickers attached as the picture illustrates. These make the appearance of windows, lights, dashboard instruments, passengers and number plates. It also comes with extra stickers which I attached to brighten it up! As if it wasn't bright enough! When my little boy first saw the ride on he wasn't really sure what to do. After a little coaxing and eventual picking up and ponking him on, his little face lit up. The handle bars are perfectly placed for his hands and his feet sit comfortably on the floor. He was very wary for a while just kind of sitting there. After a few pushes along and lots of giggles he started to get the hang of it. Its now just over three weeks since Christmas and he zooms around on it, climbing on and off with ease. He also likes to push it along holding the handle bars but not sitting on it. Hes not really discovered the compartment under the seat as yet, but I'm sure that will come with time and be another place to look for the tv remote! At the moment he finds it quite difficult to press the two music buttons as he tends to just use one finger and he doesn't apply enough pressure. Not a bad thing though it is quite irritating! I have discovered this as his older brother often plays with this and he presses the buttons with his knees because hes too big for it! One of my sons aunties bought him another ride on for Christmas. When we opened it we noticed it was a more expensive one with more bells and whistles and we felt a little deflated. Whenever he sits on this one all the lights start to flash and tunes start to play. We find that this distracts him from riding on it, hes more interested in the lights and pressing things. We then realised that we had made a brilliant choice with the ride on that we bought. Its simplicity means that our little boy concentrates on the actually riding which we bought it for. It is made of plastic and is quite lightweight so easy to move around the house if need be. We've not had it long enough to test its durability, but seems well put together. Batteries are needed for the lights and music. 3 AAAs are required. Its height is 54cm, width 25cm and depth 42cm. Its is specified as suitable for 1-3 years. My eldest is 6 and he loves it although he is too big! Try telling him that! We paid £19.99 in Woolworths just before Christmas. I cannot find this on their website, but Argos have it for £24.99.
