“ Brand: Bruin / Age: Newborn / Type: Activity Toys „
The Bruin Activity Book in Bag is an interactive toy book from Toys R Us. It is part of the Toys R Us own range named Bruin.
This is an interactive book, but it is not computerised, does not need batteries, and it does not talk to you, it is a fabric book about a day in the life of Bruin the Bear. There is a Bruin the Bear attached to the book and you can take him through all the daily activities from waking in the morning to going to sleep at night.
The activity book is fabric and comes in a plastic cover, the bag, once opened we discarded the bag but you could keep it to put the book away safely, however our book doesn't get put away it is one of my baby son's favourite toy.
The book is fabric and has 6 internal pages and the back and front covers. Each page is brightly coloured and has an interactive activity on each. We start with Bruin waking from sleep, "Time to get up", the page shows a bed and it has a little pocket where you can put Bruin into as you look at the scene and tell the story.
Bruin then goes on and it is "Time for a bath", this page contains a little bath, again with a pocket to put Bruin in, it also has a crinkly red towel attached. My son loves the feel and noise of the towel. The opposite page has a bright blue water droplet, which again crinkles.
Bruin then moves on to get dressed, this is an orange page with a wardrobe that has crinkly fabric doors, there is a little felt hanger attached inside the wardrobe and you can put Bruin's clothes on this. The Bruin attached to the book comes with 2 outfits, a red and white stripy one and a blue one. The page opposite is red and is a breakfast scene, the table is set for Bruin to have his porridge and milk, again there is a little pocket to insert Bruin and you can help him eat his healthy breakfast.
The story then moves on to Bruin going out to play, the scene is of a little car, into which Bruin can be inserted. This page has a bright sun and a fluffy cloud. The final page is a clock face and it is "time to say goodbye to Bruin".
This is a lovely book and whilst my son is too young to understand a story he really enjoys Bruin and carries him about with him most of the time. The book is soft but does have lovely textured parts and crinkly bits that make a rustling noise. As he gets older we will be able to make more of a story from the book. There are not many words in the book and the story can just be made up but it is a lovely way to take some good quality, quiet time with your baby. Perhaps some of the beauty of this toy is its simplicity, it is as much fun as you make it with your child.
All the pages are brightly coloured, the little Bruin is yellow. The book has 2 fabric handles for carrying and it velcroes closed. As the book is fabric it can be machine washed at 40%. I bought this book in a local Toys R Us for £9.99, a little bit pricey but it is practically indestructible, and is suitable from birth, my 4 year old sometimes has a little "read" of the book.
I would definitely recommend this as a first toy, a change from rattles and things to chew, it is great fun.
