My daughter is 8 months old and has been passed down a lot of my elder sons and daughters baby toys. My son received this as a gift when he was born just over 2 years ago. A family friend purchased this lovely hanging chime toy made by bright starts. It came from boots costing only £3.99.
Bright starts are a well-known children's toy and equipment brand. Bright starts is a fantastic brand name for their products are they are all in fun bright colours which is a great way to introduce your children to toys as they are eye catching and very stimulating for you young child.
This chime toy is suitable from birth (although around the 3 month age is when my two younger children have become interested in it.)
As I said they received this as a gift (the one to the right of the picture) It a lovely hanging giraffe. This makes a lovely chime noise which shook or moved. It's got a very strong hook on the top enabling you to attach to your desired place, either the side of crib on the car seat or push chair. I like to attach this to the rear facing car seat as when I'm driving it likes the noise and my little girl laughs.
It is made of a very soft material and is child friendly, no Sharpe edges or dangerous parts. The stitching has stayed in place after lots of vigorous play, so it's certainly made to stand lots of hits and throws.
The toy its self is approximately 7 inches in length and a 2 by 1 and a half inch hook on, a good size hook to attach to things. The size of this product is brilliant for small hands and an excellent size to chew on for all those teething babies.
Costing only £3.99 this toy has very much got its money's worth; it's been loved and played with. I can't fault one thing about this product. I don't dare put it in the washing machine, so to clean use a warm damp cloth.
You also have a choice of 3 designs, a lion, giraffe and elephant, all in bright fun colours which will encourage your children to play and learn.
Overall an excellent priced, quality, well-made product which is great for grabbing your children's attention and its safe and easy to clean. This is certainly one toy that will get packed away just in case we have any more children.
When my daughter turned 3 months she started to take an interest in toys and noises. While browsing in Boots I came across these Bright Starts Chimes. Each chime costs £4.59. I picked mine up on a 3 for 2 offer so I was able to get two of these and one other toy.
The chime is basically a small plush animal which has a chime attached. I bought the lion which is bright yellow in colour, it has a little 'fringe' which is multi-coloured and adds texture. The second animal I bought was the giraffe which is bright green in colour with a yellow face, he also has a little tail with a tiny tag attached and two horns which are a slightly different texture. Each animal is attached to a brightly coloured piece of string, this chime is housed in a cylinder which is covered in a silky material. With each animal the colour of the chime house varies. Each animal is held on a 'C' shaped link.
As I bought two chimes I attached one to my daughters car seat and one to her pushchair. The 'C' link makes it easy to clip these on and remove them with ease, but they are also secure enough to keep the toy in place even where your baby is pulling it.
Initially when I first bought these my daughter just looked at them and smiled when either me or her dad moved them to make them 'chime'. The chime itself is a really nice sound it is gentle and reminds me of a wind chime. You only need to move these slightly to get them to chime. Once my daughter was a little older she started to bat at these herself, she was also able to hold them in her hands as they are small and and squishy so they fit nicely into baby's hand. My daughter also likes to 'stroke' the lions mane as it is made from a series of small labels. On the giraffe she likes to stroke his ears and tail.
These can be cleaned using a damp sponge. They come up pretty well, ours have been covered in sick and food and both have come out with ease.
I would definately recommend these they are really simple but eyecatching making them ideal as a first toy.
When my baby started to pay a little bit of attention to colours I wanted to give her something to look at whilst she was in the car seat either in the car or whilst walking. I didn't want to spend too much as I knew it wouldn't be long before she could start playing with a lot of her sisters old toys and with Christmas just around the corner I knew we were going to be inundated with toys.
We were in our local Asda and found the range of Bright Start toys which I had never heard of, after looking for a few minutes we selected the elephant chime toy. The toys are approx £5 each which is not going to break the bank and where we were there was a choice of an orange elephant, a yellow lion or a green giraffe.
The toy itself is a soft elephant in orange with blue and green material inside the ears, the ears also have something inside to make them rustle. There are 3 different material tags on the elephants tail and on the elephants head. The elephant is then attached with a small piece of material to a cylindrical shape covered in bright orange spotty material which provides the chime of the toy. Lastly there is a further piece of material attached to a large plastic circular shape which prises open on one side to allow it to be hung wherever suitable.
This toy is great value for money, my daughter has it hung on her car seat and it also gets hung on her playmat when we change the toys to keep her interested. The toy hangs down far enough that she is able to bash it with her hands and make it chime herself and she seems to be really proud of herself when she manages it.
Well recommended toy
For young babies sometimes the simplest of toys are the most fun and in the case of the Bight Starts Chime Along Friend it's certainly true.
The Bright Starts Chime Along Friend comes in 3 animal varieties, a lion, elephant and giraffe, it is a simple toy designed to be suitable from birth and has a clip which allows it to attach to buggy straps or onto other Bright Starts toys and similar open circular clip styles, like those that come with many Fisherprice toys. We have the giraffe version as I thought he had the cutest face and the other 2 animals looked a little odd, it's made up in a few sections starting with the clip at the top which is fixed to a strip of fabric, from this strip hangs a fabric coloured cylinder which contains a chiming bell and then from another fabric strip hangs the small, soft fabric giraffe.
The toy is no more then 13 inches from top to bottom and is great for fixing to an overhead toy bar or baby gym for your little one to try and grab or hit, as the toy moves or is shook the bell tinkles releasing a really lovely sound, for want of a technical description is more of a "ting-a-ling" then a "ding dong" and is quite pleasant to listen to. The sound is fun for your little one and encourages them to reach out for the toy in order to make the sound again, that combined with the bright colours makes it a very fun stimulating toy for your baby.
I like to hang this on Jacks swinging chair or fix it to his buggy when we go out, he loves grabbing hold of the giraffe and shaking it in order to ring the bell and he's quite fond of having a chew on the soft giraffe too. The toy seems very good quality and has stood up to his tugging and chewing very well, all the stitching seems strong and neat and none of the pieces are starting to come loose. I wouldn't want to try and wash it in the machine due to the plastic clip and the bell cylinder but it would be surface washable so if Jack happens to get baby goo on it I'll be able to clean it up nicely. It fixes well onto his Fisherprice Kick and Drive gym and onto several of the hanging toys for his swing chair which allows us to alternate a lot of his toys, stopping him becoming bored with the same thing all the time.
We paid just under £3 for the toy in Asda and Jack adores it, he's 6 months and is able to grab for it easily, when he was younger it was quite an achievement for him when he hit it or caught it in his hand but he's always enjoyed the toy. It's not going to last them past 12 months of age, not because of quality, but because of entertainment value, it's not the most complex of toys but at 6 months old you don't need that, a toy that is fun and stimulating is more than suitable. I would highly recommend this sweet little toy to parents of young babies, both Jack and I love it.
Bright animal plush characters have an easy-grip clip that attaches to almost anything.
