I absolutely love this and for under £10, it would make an ideal gift.

I love my children to play with toys that enable them to learn something rather than sitting and watching the television. I also like wooden toys as they tend to be able to withstand more of a 'battering' when it comes to playtime. Father Christmas bought this for my son a few years ago as he had a fascination with Peter Rabbit. He was 3 at the time and was immediately pleased with it.

It is aimed at 18 months plus and as it is Beatrix Potter, it is suitable for either boys or girls.

It is made from a light wood and even when all 28 pieces are inside, it isn't at all heavy. The lid slides in and out with ease and all the pieces fit inside without any issues. The box measures 17cm x 9.5cm and is 5cm high. I really like that the corners have a dovetail joint which gives it that quality finish.

Each piece has a cream background on one side with the individual characters and also blue spots to indicate the numbers like a traditional domino set. The other side is just plain wood. They are quite a small size measuring 7.5cm x 3.7cm with a thickness of 0.5cm. My children have no problems with picking them up and using them and I would imagine that for a younger child it would help with their hand eye co-ordination skills.

My children happily play with this and it appears it was a great choice from Father Christmas. Well done that man! I would thoroughly recommend it.
