“ Brand: Argos / Type: Duvet Cover „
Last Christmas I had completely ran out of ideas when family members were asking me what I wanted for my daughter, usually a simple anything reply would be fine but my daughters great grandma has a tight list of things that she would actually buy and since we had plenty of pyjamas, nickers and socks I asked her to buy my daughter this peppa pig duvet set of which she was happy to do.
The peppa pig duvet set is, obviously very much geared towards the peppa pig theme only having a slight twist with also having a princess theme. The bed cover is very over the top, but I liked that, I thought it was very pretty and the colours would very much go with my daughter's bed room.
The bed cover only comes in a single size and it costs £13.99 for which you get the duvet cover plus one pillow also decorated with the same peppa pig theme. Unfortunately all that's good about the cover just about ends here, in the fact that it looks lovely and it comes at a cheap price.
When I first opened the packaging I realised that there was something different about the bed cover, it didn't feel like the other duvet covers we have and upon closer inspection I discovered that the bed cover is made from 100% microfibre polyester where as we are used to cotton bed covers. Because of the type of material the bedding feels very thin and I immediately thought that it was cheap and very bad quality.
I proceeded to give the cover the benefit of the doubt and put it onto my daughter's bed, it was easy to get on and it has several popper buttons at the bottom to secure it in place, these were not the best quality and occasionally came undone but this was the least of the problems. Initially after putting the cover on I changed my mind slightly, I thought it looked lovely and it really added some colour to the bedroom.
Come the morning however the duvet had rolled into a ball within the cover, this left half of the cover without any duvet, it wasn't difficult to put back but it continued to do this every time it was moved. I began to find my daughter at night time with only the cover over her as the duvet had slid down to the bottom. At first I thought it was because we had a low tog duvet so I bought a thicker one and we had the same problem. The only conclusion that I have come to is that the material, being microfibre polyester and not cotton causes the cover to slide around over the duvet rather than bonding with it. I have never had any problems with our cotton covers using either one of our duvets.
On a slightly recovering note, the cover is easy to wash and maintain, it also dry's at an incredible speed, probably due to the fact that it is so thin there really isn't much to dry. I really couldn't recommend this bed cover; I have only stopped myself from throwing it in the bin because my daughter absolutely loves it. I really think that the design is lovely but it's a shame that I can't say the same about the quality and material.
Even at the low price it costs to buy it's really not worth it, I would rather spend an extra couple of pounds to get a thicker, warmer and a much better quality cotton cover.
