Just before Christmas the town Bury St Edmunds which is just down the road from us always holds a big Christmas Fair, me and my family usually go to have a look around and this year was no different, naturally we took Jayden with us and decided to take him to see Santa, one of our main reasons for taking him was because his Auntie was actually Santa's Elf. I did wonder how he would react but he loved it, he smiled at Santa and recognised his Auntie despite the silly outfit, he was then given a present by Santa when he left which was a set of Toy Company Floating Boats, the toy was quite simple and basic but he loved its. Since he received the boats he has played with them everyday in the bath, he has other bath toys but these simple little boats really are his favourites.
The Floating Boats come attached to a rectangle card covered in plastic to hold them in place, at the top of the card it says "Bath Time Tug Boats" in large white lettering, the background of the card is divided up into brightly coloured squares with small pictures of whales, star fish, ducks and octopus covering it. The back of the card is plain with no colour at all, again the name is repeated in large black letters and right at the bottom is a small amount of product information, this is then repeated in 2 different languages. The packaging is quite basic but it gives you the information you need to know.
The Floating Boats
The Toy Company Floating Boats come in a set of three, the boats are basically moulded boat shapes made from a tough and strong plastic, what would normally be the deck of a boat is cut away so that this can be filled up with water, each boat also has a funnel in the centre of it, this has 2 small holes in it which along with the small hollowed out section in the base of the boat helps them to float on the water.
The boats are made from one moulded piece of plastic so there are no small parts which could come off of them making them ideal for young babies, also all of the edges are smooth and rounded again making them extra safe, the packaging actually states that these are suitable from birth onwards and I would definitely agree with this as they are safe.
In the set that Jayden got he received 3 different coloured boats, a green one, a yellow one and a dark pink one, if I had chosen the colours I probably wouldn't have chosen the pink one for him, however the colours do mean that they are suitable for both boys and girls. The idea of the boats is quite simple, however it is also effective as the boats float perfectly and cannot really be sunk even when the deck area is filled with water.
To be honest there is no real care information on the packaging of the Toy Company Floating Boats, however I would say that this product is unlikely to really get dirty or anything as it is mainly played with in water, however should the boats need cleaning I just wash them with a mild soap and water and ensure that they are fully rinsed before giving them back to Jayden. The smooth plastic that they are made from means that there are no grooves that dirt can get trapped in.
Again these is not a huge amount of information about this on the back of the packaging, and in this section it only states that this product should be used with adult supervision and that children should not be left alone in the bath. As I have said the boats are suitable from birth and are really safe for you baby, there are no small parts that can come loose and cause a choking hazard and there are no rough or sharp edges either.
Price and Availability
As I have said Jayden's Floating Boats were a present from Santa so I'm not sure where they were purchased, however I have done a bit of research and have found them available from Amazon and also a website called All About Party Bags, on Amazon the exact same packet of boats that Jayden received were being sold for £9.99 which personally I thought were extremely expensive for what they are, however on the all About Party Bags website they are sold separately for 70p each which I think is much more reasonable, whilst I think the quality of the boats is excellent and I love the fact that they are safe for Jayden to use I would not pay £9.99 for 3 plastic floating boats.
I have been extremely pleased with the Toy Company Floating Boats, they are of an excellent quality and very strong, Jayden tends to bang his against the side of the bath and they are still in excellent condition and look as good as new despite being used every day.
I like the fact that these boats are totally safe for Jayden to play with and they also do what they are supposed to do which is float.
This item is reasonably priced if you shop around for them, however some places do over price them quite considerably.
Despite the simplicity of this toy Jayden really does love them, he spends ages in the bath pushing them around the water and filling them up with water and pouring it out, he also likes to chew on the funnel of the boats as this easily fits into his mouth, however I do not really have to worry about this as due to the fact that each boat is made from one moulded piece of plastic I know that the funnel cannot come off and cause a choking hazard.
Overall I would highly recommend the Toy Company Floating Boats, they are suitable for all ages but are an excellent way to introduce toys to your baby's bath time
