I use this every night for my son as part of his bedtime routine and it does do exactly what it says on the bottle. I have tested not using this and other bath time products and find my son more wired and not ready for bed until later. This product has the "baby smell" and really does smell lovely, doesn't sting his eyes as still has the no tears formula and best of all lots of fun playing with bubbles which do last a while In the bath, without having to pour lots in. My son does suffer with slight eczema and this doesn't dry or irritate his skin unlike other brands. I also team this up with other products from the range which all work well together for the all important bed time routine. It's great value for money, worth stocking up when the offers are on in stores.
When I gave birth I was given lots of lovely presents from kind friends and family and this was one of the items I received. As I had lots of bath stuff, this was used when my daughter was a bit older. ---About the item: (more info from www.johnsonsbaby.co.uk) Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath forms part of the Johnson's toiletries range for young children. The bedtime bath is a bubble bath which is designed to help your baby sleep better as part of a nightly routine. It is apparently clinically proven to do this but they obviously didn't include my daughter in this study as it didn't really work on her... It has relaxing aromas in it and includes their traditional No More Tears formula. The bottle itself is an opaque purple plastic bottle with a flip top lid. This then has a small hole which you can use to squeeze the right amount of the product into the bath. It can be bought in either 300ml or 500ml bottles. The 500ml bottle generally costs £3.50 - £4.00 but they are generally on offer somewhere so I would look to buy them then. ---Our experiences: The first thing you notice when using this product is the gorgeous smell. I think it has lavender in it but I cannot tell what other smells there are included I'm afraid. You can tell it is meant to be a relaxing product and the smell stays on your child even after they are getting out and dried. When you pour it into the running water, it does start to bubble slightly but I always agitate the water with my hands to get a lovely load of bubbles for my daughter. You can smell the lovely aroma while the bath is running and you get a good amount of soft bubbles with just a small amount of the liquid. Because it has the 'no more tears' formula, it doesn't matter that my daughter now likes to play in the bubbles more now that she is older and it was great when she was younger as I could wash her completely with it. It cleans her nicely and the bubbles last for a while before they start to disappear. Now she is older, they have mostly all gone by the time she is ready to get out, but she gets a good time to play with them. The main point of this baby bath product is to relax your child before bedtime but unfortunately this has never worked for my daughter. She gets so excited about having a bath that nothing really calms her down. I used this product until it had run out, but I only buy it when I'm given it or it is on a brilliant offer as it smells so nice. It is a shame as I have read that it works on most other children, but obviously my daughter doesn't appreciate the calming influence of it! ---And finally: Even though the product doesn't work exactly the way it should; I like to use this type of bath product for the smell as it definitely calms me and my daughter smells wonderful when she gets out of the bath. It is quite expensive and there are other cheaper brands that have a similar aroma and claim to do the job just as well. I have bought these occasionally as well because I like the smell but they don't seem to work on my daughter either. Because of the price, I would only buy this on offer but would recommend that parents give it a go as it might well work for their children instead!
I am a massive fan of the Johnson's baby range and I have recently discovered the bedtime bath. This product comes in a lilac plastic bottle with a matching lilac flip top lid. The lilac colour is to make you automatically think of lavender which is the base fragrance of this range as it is soothing and calming. I squirt this into my bath sometimes when I have had a hard day. This is a liquid bath stuff, but it does not bubble up. I guess as it is designed for babies and not us adults that like long hot bubbly soaks! The liquid comes out ever so slightly yellow in colour and smells immediately of wonderful soothing lavendar. A 500 ml bottle costs £3.70, so there are cheaper bubble baths out there, but Johnson's is often on a 3 for 2 offer which makes it comparable in price. I find this bath soak really relaxing and soothing and I always sleep better after soaking in this for half an hour, Whether that is just a placebo effect, I don't know, but I don't much care either! I will continue to use this on those days that are "one of those days".....
Having a newborn in the house usually always comes with a huge range of baby toiletries, many of which I never used with my first baby due to her sensitive skin but having received them as gifts second time around I have promised myself not to let them go to waste this time! We received this baby bedtime bath in a hamper as a gift from a friend so I'm not sure how much it cost but a quick google search tells me you can buy the 300ml bottle for £2.30 in Boots and £1.25 in Asda (so costs vary a lot) amongst other places. This bedtime bath comes in the Johnsons signature style bottle which is lilac with a purple easy to open flip lid. The usual tear drop is displayed on the front saying 'no more tears' and the words 'proven to help your baby sleep better, NaturalCalm aromas'. The back of the bottle tells me that to achieve the best from this product I should use this in a warm bath before bedtime and then use baby bedtime lotion to massage into babies skin. I have not purchased any of this lotion so it is just the bedtime bath I am reviewing. It also tells me that both these products contain NaturalCalm aromas, a patented blend of relaxing aromas, and that it contains the usual Johnsons formula that is gentle on the eyes if any water is splashed into them. The first thing I noticed about this product was the fragrance. The smell of this bedtime bath is absolutely beautiful, and lingers on my son for the whole day after use. I find scents in general quite hard to describe but I'd describe this fragrance as having a sweet lavender scent (which normally I hate!) combined with the lovely typical baby smell you get from all Johnson products. It is such a relaxing smell and I wouldn't mind bathing in it myself. I noticed when pouring into my son's bath that the liquid is sort of like baby oil in consistency but without that slightly slippery side you get to it. It comes out clear and you need to use your hand to mix it into the water, it doesn't create many bubbles as such but does leave a nice foam on the water so you do feel that it has made a difference. So does it make my 10 week old sleep more? In a word, No. I've not noticed any difference to his sleeping patterns, he sleeps the same amount as he always has but I do feel that it does relax him. My son loves bath time anyway but I do feel that afterwards he seems calm and content. For this reason alone I'd give it 5 out of 5 because it makes my son happy! I personally love this product despite it not encouraging sleep in my son but I wouldn't recommend this to any tired parent looking for a way to encourage sleep in their baby. For this reason I will give it a 4. It is too good to lose any more than the 1 star in my opinion.
I have used own brand bedtime bath for my toddlers before but hadn't tried Johnson's baby bedtime bath until now. I was getting towards the end of the bottle I was using and Johnson's was on offer at half price and so I thought I would give it a try. The packaging This bedtime bath comes in a purple bottle reflecting the lavender in the fragrance. I personally prefer clear bottles so you can see the bubble bath inside and therefore how fast the contents are going down. The bottle is a generous 500ml and has lasted a good few months with daily baths. The bottle has a flip top cap and is easy to squeeze allowing you to control how much is added to the bath. The shape of the bottle makes it comfortable to hold and it has a good sized base so it is stable when stood. Using the bedtime bath I pour a small amount under the running water and it starts bubbling up straight away. The fragrance is stronger than other bedtime baths I've used, this one contains 'NaturalCalm aromas'. I was a bit worried that it would be too strong for my girls little noses but they didn't seem to notice. They do love playing with the bubbles and it has Johnson's no tears formulation so I don't have to worry when they get it all over their faces. By the end of the bath the bubbles have nearly all disappeared but I like that as I don't have to spend ages rinsing them away. Johnson's recommend that you use their baby bedtime lotion after this, maybe you need to use both to get your baby to sleep better as they take just as long to get to sleep with this as other bubble baths Price and availability A 500ml bottle is currently (June 2013) part of Tesco's baby event and is better than half price costing £1.50 instead of the usual £3.74. I do like this bedtime bath but would never buy it at full price as I don't think it is worth it. Would I recommend? Yes, it is a good quality bedtime bath but don't assume that sleepy relaxed little ones will get out of their bath! When compared to Asda's Little Angels bedtime bath I don't think there is any difference in the quality and wouldn't pay more for the Johnson's brand name in this instance.
I have always used Johnsons products for all 3 of my children so when I saw this recently I thought I would give it a try. My daughter loves baths and thought it would be fun for her to have some bubbles in there too. I was also interested by the fact that it said it helped with sleep too! When I tried it for the first time I couldn't believe how gorgeous it smelt. It smelt so good that even my elder two children commented on it and asked if they could have some in their bath. The baby bath comes in a lovely looking lavender colored bottle. The lid is easy to open which is good especially if you are trying to hold a baby and open it at the same time which I always seem to end up doing. I poured a small amount from the bottle into the hot running water, you can smell it straight away . It produced a good amount of bubbles and I only used a little bit. The bubbles clean your baby at the same time which is great. I have to admit I have used a bit of this in the shower myself it smells so nice. My daughter has always been a good sleeper so I cant verify if it makes your baby sleep or not but for definite it makes them lovely and soft and nice smelling which is great.
Just before Jayden was born I joined the Tesco baby club and now every few weeks I receive some coupons for various baby products, I tend to use most of these coupons especially the ones for toiletries, Jayden so far seems to be able to use pretty much anything so if I can buy him some shower gels etc a bit cheaper I do. I recently received a couple of coupons for Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath, I have used Johnson products before and have been pleased with them, however I had not tried the Johnson's Bedtime products, however I was sure that this would be just as good as their regular products. Packaging The Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath comes in a lilac plastic bottle with a slightly darker lilac lid on top, this as a flip top which clicks in place to stop the contents leaking. There is a clear plastic label on the front of the bottle which has a large purple tear drop in the middle of it, written inside this is all of the product information, this consists of the product name "Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath" and just beneath this are a couple of facts about the product, all of this information is written in a dark blue. Right at the top of the label is a bright pink tear drop with the words "No More Tears" in white lettering. All of the product information is written on the back of the bottle on a purple label in blue writing. This information consists of facts about the product, how to use it and warnings. Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath This product is the consistency of a regular shower gel and is clear, personally I find the thickness to be just right in that it does not run straight off of the sponge but nor is it too thick. What I particularly like is the fragrance of this product, it has a gentle smell to it which personally I think is quite floral, I thought it would smell of lavender, however whilst that particular fragrance may be present I cannot detect one particular smell, I just know that the this is definitely a floral product. Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath is described as containing Natural Calm which is a blend of relaxing aromas, combined with a warm bath the relaxing fragrance of this product will help you baby prepare for a good nights sleep. This bath time product is a no tears formula so whilst it is not a good idea to get it into your baby's eyes if this does occur it is gentle on the eyes and will not cause them any problems or stinging. Directions for Use This product is designed to use by applying a small amount to your baby's bath water, gently lather up and then rinse this from your baby's skin. Personally I found it better to apply the baby bath with a sponge rather than putting it in the water, although I have done both, this is just personal preference and I find it easier washing Jayden in this way. Using the product in a different way to what is described on the back of the packaging has not caused any problems for us and it has worked in just the same way. Warnings These are pretty standard for this product and states that it should be kept out of reach of children and that it is also for external use only. Price and Availability Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath can be purchased in most supermarkets and other shops such as Superdrug, Boots and a lot of places that have a baby section. We purchased our 300ml bottle from Tesco, this size bottle is sold for £1.00 which personally I think is an excellent price, however you can also buy it in a larger 500ml which is £3.74, I do think that the product is fairly priced as it really does last a long while, you only need a small amount at a time so you really do get your moneys worth. For us the 300ml bottle was even more of a bargain as we got it for free, we had a £1.00 coupon and this was the only sized bottle they had in stock at the time so we took the bottle to the till with the coupon convinced that the coupon would only be redeemable against the larger bottle, however we were pleased to discover that it didn't meaning we got the product for nothing. My Opinion We have actually used the whole bottle of the Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath now and have been really pleased with it, I love the fragrance of this product, it is lovely and fresh whilst at the same time being mild and gentle, the fragrance is very long lasting and a long while after bathing Jayden in this I can still smell the product on his skin. This product really does its job and leaves Jayden's skin clean and fresh, it lathers up extremely well whether poured into the bath or whether it is applied directly and leaves no residue on his skin when rinsed. Personally I think this product is very reasonably priced and definitely worth the money as it is long lasting, one bottle will last you a while. I would highly recommend this product and will definitely be purchasing it again in the future.
When my baby grandchildren sleep at my house, I like to bath them using a baby product rather than an adult one. I have never bathed the babies using any of our own products because I feel they wouldn't be suitable for their more sensitive skins. So I always buy a baby product. This brand is well known and one that I like a lot. I have bought this a few times in the past. It comes housed in a plastic bottle and has a flip back lid. The liquid is a fairly rich consistency and not too runny. It is extremely soft and has a slight smell of lavender. A nice smell and one my grandchildren do like quite a lot. They are very happy to bathe in the bath with the lavender smell. It lathers quite well and the bubbles remain in the water the whole time they are bathing. They like to splash around a lot and play with their bath toys like children do and so they bubbles last until the end of their bath. Means I don't need to add any more liquid to the water, which is good because the bottle then lasts longer. Also when they splash around in the water and the water goes near their eyes, it doesn't sting their eyes or make them cry because the product is very gentle. Which then makes the children happy and not distressed. Cleans their finger nails and toe nails well from soaking in the bath, removes all of the dirt from the nails very well indeed. Nothing worse than nails being dirty. Just soaking in the water is all that is needed and no scrubbing of the nails etc. when they have been painting or playing with soil in the garden this product removes all traces of the dirt well indeed. They have not experienced any rashes or irritations on their skin with using this product. It is mild and very gentle on their sensitive skin. Also leaves their skin feels very soft and then ready to use their baby lotion. It does help them to relax a little bit before bedtime. Used with a baby body lotion it is a really good product. It is extremely good quality and good value for the price. For a 300ml bottle it is priced at around £2.80, a reasonable price for a good brand. Also available in a large sized bottle. It claims to relax babies and calm them down a little before bedtime but used for my grandchildren I can say it does fairly relax them because of the scent but nothing more than any other branded baby bath. I think the baby lotion and massaging them with it before bed actually seems to relax them more than this product. I will buy it in the future because it cleans them well and also because the bottle lasts a long time because of the amount I need to use in the water. Clean and refreshed little babies using this product. Suitable for all children's bath time. I rate it 5 stars.
When my baby was around 13 weeks old I decided I wanted to try and get him into a bed time routine. I had seen this baby bath advertised on tv and that it claimed to help babies fall to sleep and so off I went to buy some. I bought it for around £3, a little bit expensive but if it gave me a full nights sleep it would be worth it. It comes in a purple plastic bottle, with a flip lid. It's very easy to flip on and off which is great as it makes getting your baby's bath ready (usually with a baby in my arms!) a lot easier especially if you only have one arm free! The bubble bath itself is clear and as soon as it comes out you get the baby soft smell that Johnson's is known for and a very faint hint of lavender which is instantly relaxing. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with the amount of bubbles it created as they seemed to be very sparse in the water, this doesn't seem to change really no matter how much you put in! The bubble bath also is no tears which is great as my baby loves to splash in the water and so is always getting water and bubbles on his face and in his eyes but it doesn't seem to bother him which means there is no tears! When getting my baby out of the bath, he has the lovely smell on him and he seemed to be quite relaxed. His skin is also always lovely and soft after using this which is nice. I have to say I am not sure if this was just a fluke but after the first time of using this we got our first 7 hours of interrupted sleep! Because of this we carried on using it and although since he didn't always sleep straight through the night, he still seemed to calm down after having this in his bath and it really relaxed him ready for bed. Because of this I would definitely recommend it.
This product smells lovely. It has a subtle lavender fragrance that is really calming. The calming effect works on both the mind and body. I simply pour this baby bath into warm running water. It starts to create bubbles straight away, before you know it you have a bath full of creamy rich bubbles. The bubble bath also helps to soften your bath water. It doesn't colour the bath water so you don't have to worry about it staining your bath tub. The bubble bath is also great for washing your body with. Simply pour some onto a shower puff and wash your body with it. The bubble bath leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and supple. The bubbles are long lasting. They don't fade away and they last long enough for a good twenty minute bath. The calming fragrance really helps me to switch off from everything. The fragrance isn't too strong so it doesn't get right into your nose. I also use this on my friend's baby and it really helps her to unwind, leaving her free to go into a deep sleep. She then sleeps throughout the night, well usually she does. The bubble bath lasts for a while as you don't need to use a lot of it. Just a small amount is enough to create a decent amount of bubbles. Be prepared to pay around £1.50 per bottle.
More often than not my son uses the same bath products that I do in order to have a bubble bath. Around a year ago though he was waking up in the night as well as struggling to fall asleep to begin with and so feeling nostalgic for the good old baby days I purchased some Johnson's baby bedtime bath and told him that the "magic" formula would help him drift off at night. The Johnson's baby bedtime bath comes in a purple recyclable plastic bottle. The front of the bottle features a tear shaped label with the product name and "no more tears" logo. We are told that the product is proven to help babies sleep better but it doesn't actually seem to tell us how this was proven anywhere on the bottle which seems a touch odd! To use the product you should squeeze some of the bath foam under the running water for your bath. The product is a clear liquid which has the familiar Johnson's baby scent that I am sure that anyone with children will have memories of! This does smell much like that but you can also smell a faint lavender smell I think which is probably down to the fact that the product says is contains NaturalCalm which is a patented blend of relaxing aromas. Ultimately though this bubble bath smells familiar, sweet and baby like. Swirling my hand in the water creates a nice amount of bubbles in the bath whilst the relaxing scent fills the bathroom. My son was more than happy to jump in the bath when we used this product and to be honest I was happy to use it too because it made me feel relaxed and my skin felt soft too. Now of course the product makes big claims saying it helps babies sleep but would it be beneficial to my older child? Well I can honestly say that I think this product helped my son to go to sleep when he was struggling because he really relaxed in the bath and he said it made his skin feel really nice and soft too. Personally I also really enjoyed using this product and perhaps it is psychological but it did make me feel relaxed, a lot of which I think was to do with the lovely scent. Should you be interested in trying this product for yourself I can advise that it is available from supermarkets and chemists such as boots. A 500ml bottle will cost between £2.50 and £3.00 but can often be bought on offer as well. I would certainly recommend this product as I think the fragrance combined with the warm water of the bath is very relaxed for both child and adult alike. Thank you for reading my review!
Once you have a baby you will quickly come to understand why sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture. Babies' body clocks do not understand the difference between night and day so it is a good idea to try to establish a bedtime routine so they understand night better. Our routine is bath, bottle, book and bed. When my son was a newborn we just used warm water but has he has grown we have started to try some baby bath products. My son does not sleep particularily well so when I saw Johnsons had a bedtime version of their baby bath I thought I would try it. Only a small amount is required as gives quite a lot of bubbles which my son really enjoyed. The smell is very pleasant and I can smell the lavender. Johnsons say this is part of the Naturalcalm special formula. It also forms part of the NoMoreTears range so should be mild enough for babies. It comes in a lavender shade bottle with a flip up lid. The liquid is not too runny so it is fairly easy to pour a small amount into the bath but giving the bottle a gentle squeeze. My bottle is 500 ml and cost just under £4 but there is also a 300 ml bottle available and if you are going to try this product I suggest you start with the smaller bottle first even if it works out more expensive per ml. Did my son sleep better? Well sad to say it didn't seem to have any effect than a plain water bath. I have tried it myself and it does help me relax. I would have continued to use it but my son developed dry skin which may not have been due to this product but I decided to stop using it on him and his dry skin cleared up. As a result I use it myself for a nice relaxing bubble bath but this isnt the use I intended. I may try it again when he is a bit older to see if it has any effect on his skin as the manufacturers do state it is hypoallergenic and tested by dermatologists. I did notice that the regular Johnsons states it is ph neutral but don't see a similar claim on the bedtime version. I am writing to the manufacturers and if they reply will update thus review then. I would suggest that this product may be worth a try to help your baby sleep if you are desperate but it my case I am unlikely to be buying it again.
Johnsons Baby Bath I have always been a loyal Johnson's fan when it comes to baby cleansing items, whether it be wet wipes/talc/baby bath washes/etc. Anyway, I love using the Johnson's baby bath stuff because it always smells deliciously baby like. I will be reviewing Johnson's Bedtime Bath. Packaging ~ The Bedtime Bath is quite easy to distingiuse amongst the other products on the shelf as this comes in a lovely lilac coloured plastic bottle. It has a screw top lid with but there's a cap and a little pouring spout under this. Usage ~ I usually buy the larger bottle of this and find that it lasts really well, you only need to pour a little into the hot running water to get lots of lovely bubbles. The scent becomes aparant immediatly and you are with the calming, relaxing scent of lavender and camomile. My thoughts ~ I used this for my two youngest children and I am still using it now for my youngest, more often than not my elder two boys will ask for it to be squirted into their baths too as they love the scent. I tend to bath my little one more in the evenings as I find it relaxes him and he sleeps much better then, and I do think using Bedtime Bath helps with this. My little one is now 8 months old and his night time routine goes something like this - ~7.30pm is porridge time. ~8pm we go for a nice bath, he has a good splash around and tires himself out. ~8.20pm I get him out of the bath and wrap him in a nice fluffy towel and take him downstairs to have a nice little bit of pampering, I dry him, talc him, smother him in baby oil and lotion and then get him ready for bed. ~9pm I settle him down with his bottle and he sleeps through until the morning. :) I think that the lavender and camomile in the Baby Bath calms and soothes him and it does help him have a nice restless sleep. My children have never had any adverse reactions to this product and has even helped with my 8yr old sons eczema, he finds his hands don't itch so much when he has used this in the bath. It's priced from £2 - £3.50 depending on the size you buy, but can often be found in promotional offers, it can be bought from most supermarkets and other shops and pharmacies.
I have been using this product since i had my first baby back in 2006, to be honest i never had any problems with my son sleeping so it was never brought to help him sleep however I am very loyal to the Johnson's line and i personally think they are the best for my children. My daughter however was a very different story, she refused to sleep at all so this was something we brought to see if it would help and i truely think it did help. ~~~~ What is Johnsons bedtime bath? ~~~~ Johnson'd bedtime bath is a gentle cleanser to help you baby sleep better. When put into warm water it releases a mixture of calming aromas to aid sleep. Just like other johnson's products, this again is NO MORE TEARS formula so you know that your child will be fine if any does accidenly get into their eyes. It is also formulated with the naturalcalm essence so it gives parents peace of mind. ~~~~ Where to buy ~~~~ You can buy this from pretty much anywhere, at your local superstores, chemists and well stocked stores but they also range in price. We have noticed that it is on offer alot so it would be hard to miss. At regular price we have noticed it anywhere between £1.50 and £2.75 and although it does last a very long time it is still steep in price, especially when you can pick it up whilst on offer for £1.00. ~~~~ Packaging ~~~~ Firstly it comes in a lilac plastic bottle with a screw lid, which also has a pop off lid attached to make pouring easier to control. The fact that you can screw the lid off is great because once you think it is all gone, you can pour a little water into the bottle and it will be enough for another bath. My children also enjoy playing with the clean empty bottles in the bath too and make squirty guns out of them. On the front of the bottle there is the Johnson's name in pale blue and the rest of the information in purple making it easy to read. The back of the bottle tells you the ingredience which areWater, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Polysorbate 20, PEG-150 Distearate, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide. So please be sure to check the ingredience to make sure your child is not allergic to any of the items as one of my friends found out the hard way and had a very rough nights sleep with her baby. The bottle comes in 3 different sizes however i tend to use the medium bottle as it tends to be the one that is on offer the most, and the one i can save the most money on. ~~~~ My thoughts ~~~~ To be honest i love this product. It does tell you to use in a 3 step nightly routine however i have used this without the lotion on a couple of occations that i have ran out and i do not see any difference in the sleep pattern, just the smoothness in my baby's skin. It is very easy to use, i tend to pour a small amount into the bath water to make a small amount of bubbles and then when it is time to wash the children i pour a small amount, roughly the size of a 50pence coin onto a sponge and it goes a long way. It doesnt smell that different to the normal Johnson's baby bath however i think you can faintly pick up the scent of lavender, although it is not stated in the ingredience. I dont know if that is just my personal opinion or if the lavender is in the natural calm formula. It makes my baby's skin very soft after they have been in the bath and the scent lingers on our childrens skin so they always smell clean and fresh. I would recommend this to every parent, even if you do not have any issues with your children sleeping at night because it is a lovely product. My children love it and as soon as i am running low i have to buy some more as i refuse to use anything else now.
I first tried Johnson's Bedtime Bath when my baby was just a few months old and I have to say it worked wonders. I popped my baby in a warm bath with a small squirt of Johnson's Bedtime Bath and by the time I'd got her out, dried her and dressed her - she was out like a light for the night! Johnson's Bedtime Bath probably works so well because it contains lavender which is well known for it's calming and soothing properties. As soon as the Bedtime Bath hits the water the aroma is released and it smells lovely. It's also formulated with 'Naturalcalm essences' which are said to be a special blend of soothing aroma. Thankfully my baby actually slept quite well (possibly due to her night time routine?) but I have friends with babies that weren't so lucky and they also swore by this as a nightly routine. It sounds a little far fetched but it really seems to work. Even though it's called 'Bedtime' Bath it doesn't have to be used exclusively at night time - you can use it at any time of the day. It's particularly effective if your baby is cranky or grumpy for no apparent reason. My baby tended to instantly calm down and usually stayed settled after I bathed her with Johnson's Bedtime Bath. She especially liked it when I put a little bit on a sponge and massage it onto her, which created a bubbly foam. My baby's skin was always very smooth and soft after using Johnson's Bedtime Bath. There were no side effects such as dry skin or suspicious looking rashes. The smell generally stayed on her skin for quite a while too. I also noticed that she usually had long and undisturbed sleeps after using this product. As with all Johnson's products, it has the 'no tears formula' and is apparently as gentle to the eyes as pure water... I don't usually like reading too much into ingredients, however I do think it's important to know when your dealing with baby products. The ingredients include Water, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Polysorbate 20, PEG-150 Distearate, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide. The product comes in a purple plastic bottle with a flip top lid and is easy enough to squeeze out with one hand (when the other hand is preoccupied). You can buy Johnson's Bedtime Bath in all good supermarkets and a small bottle tends to go a long way. It comes at a reasonable price in my opinion - around £2.00, although I should point out that there are cheaper bedtime bath brands out there. Johnson's Bedtime Lotion is also available. As far as I'm aware Johnson & Johnson (the company which makes this product) still test many of their products on animals (although I'm not sure if this particular product is). Lately I have been making a conscious effort to avoid companies that test on animals and switch to more ethical brands, so for that reason I highly doubt I will buy this product again. It was good whilst it lasted - if you're okay with using the Johnson's brand then I suppose I would recommend this product.
