I bought the Fisher Price Aquarium Cardle Swing when I was pregnant with my first son and it was one of my best purchases! The swing itself consists of a bulky white plastic bucket seat which is covered with a blue material. The seat has a play tray, but for the age of child the seat is designed for, the play tray really doesn't serve much purpose! The seat is suspended from a metal frame, with a mobile and light display above the seat. The swing itself is designed for babies from birth to around 9ish months but it depends on the size of the baby. The swing is motorised and has different functions - you can have the chair swinging alone, with lights, with the mobile, or with sounds, or a combination of all of these. The swing has an aquarium theme so the mobile and lights etc are all fish and undersea creatures which are bright and colourful and really engaging to the child. The music that plays is the usual Fisher Price music - bright and twangy and you find yourself humming it later in the day! My son suffered with colic and at times nothing I did would make him stop crying - until we put him in the cradle swing. The seat can either move front to back, or you turn it and it will then swing side to side. He preferred it swinging front to back and it really calmed him down at times when nothing else would. The only downside to this item is that it is quite big and bulky so not really suitable for small houses/flats, but for anybody who has the space I would say it is invaluable.
If you are pregnant or have just had a baby that is under the age of six months then this item is a must. Please forget about the price, the peace that you will get is priceless. My daughter absolutely loves the swing which has a variety of different swing speeds to suit your baby. As she got older however we did notice that the swing speeds started to decline due to her increasing weight gain. All you have to do is feed them, burp them, change them and then put them in the swing. Whilst the swing, swings your baby to sleep you can catch up on some of your missed sleep. This is a time saver and the baby also has that excellent mobile to keep them visually occupied. The seat is comfortable and the baby fits snugly in it and i assure you this swing is more than appropriate for your little ones naps and to ensure you get some peace and quiet.
As we received money from our friends and relatives for my elder son's baptism, we decided to buy him the Fisher Price Aquarium Cradle Swing. We tried it one weak ago at one of our friend's house and my son fall asleep in 5 minutes in it. ¤¤¤ Price ¤¤¤ I found a not too cheap shop locally, so I paid 120 pounds for it, but it is available under the name of Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing on amazon.co.uk for 79.99 pounds. You can find cheap used ones on eBay. ¤¤¤ Whom it is recommended? ¤¤¤ It is good for babies up to 9 kg (20 lbs), but in the manual they say the baby shouldn't be able to sit up on its own. I don't really understand why, because the swing has safety belt we always used and if you want extra security just put on the tray. It is so difficult to take it down, that your baby won't be able to remove it. I mean it is easy to put it on and remove it, but you need power to get it down. We used for my elder son from 3 months old till 15 months old. He could walk by that time, but when we put him in the swing, he was so amazed that he didn't want to come out of it. During this one year we used it so frequently that he spent weeks in it if I add the times. My younger son reached the 9 kg weight too quickly, so we used only 6 months in his case. The swing was still in such good condition that I sold to a mummy to be. I hope they will enjoy it too. ¤¤¤ Battery ¤¤¤ I would like to highlight the power supply of the cradle because if you buy 4D batteries all the time it runs out you will pay 2-3 times the price of the cradle swing. We had a quite good solution so I would like to share it with you. We bought 4 normal AA rechargeable batteries and four D size shells. As I cannot enclose a picture I insert a link: http://www.amazon.com/Lenmar-Adapter-Size-Shell-Battery/dp/B0008D5FRW So we put the batteries in this shell and they worked as they were D size batteries. In USA they sell this swing wired. ¤¤¤ Package and manual ¤¤¤ The new one is well packed in a box and needs assemble. It has a really good manual, as I bought it and brought it home I started to assemble myself. It took me about half an hour but I made it. The manual has really good pictures that help you. The cradle is quite heavy 12 kilograms and requires a large space (I cannot measure now because I have sold already but it was about 1,5 metres wide). It's 28"L x 34"W x 42"H according to its manual. ¤¤¤ Features ¤¤¤ First of all the seat: it is a hard plastic seat covered with an easily removable, washing machine proof cover. It is medium blue and there are fish pictures on it. The padded cover has a built-in infant head support. The seat has two positions, one of them is halfway seated the other almost lying. When you assemble the swing you can try how easily can be changed from one position to the other. The tray is a simple white tray and has a wave shape plastic wire above it with 3 different coloured fishes on it. My son played with them a lot and I could place other toys on the tray while I was feeding him. It is an extra security thing if you are afraid that your baby falls out. Swinging directions: it can swing from side to side or from front to back. You can change the direction by pushing a button on the globe panel and turning the seat easily. Swinging from front to back requires more space. My elder son loved swinging from side to side, the younger one from front to back. Control panel: there are four buttons on it, it is easy to manage whatever you want. The large button can be turned around, the first position if off, then only the lights, sound, and the mobile with fishes work, then the 6 speeds one by one. The other buttons can be pushed/turned from side to side. One of them was the volume control, the other for the music and the last one for the lights and the fishes turn around. There were 4 options for the music, my elder sons favourite was the music which lasts for 7 minutes and it is a mix of different nursery songs. I recognised only the Twinkle, twinkle little star, but there are 7 more played one after the other. The music has 3 other options: rain, ocean and spring. My younger son loved to listen to the ocean's sound. The globe can be lighted and the red, yellow, green and blue lights are flashing slowly, it is calming. The control button makes possible to switch off the light, have the light and the mobile with fishes go around together, or just the fishes go around. The music works independently. The volume control is as usual, so you can listen to the music on a normal volume down to quiet. ¤¤¤ To sum up ¤¤¤ It was our best investment. After what we experimented with this swing, I would pay 1,000 pounds for it. It is really brilliant. We had a lot of sleepless nights before we bought it. It served well when my son was teething, had a flue or colic. After 7 minutes the music and the lights turn off, only the swinging function works till the batteries hold. When we used all the functions the super lasting, longlife, blabla D sized batteries lasted for a week. Can you imagine the price of batteries if we don't change to rechargeable AA size batteries? So in the future we will use only AA batteries with the shell I recommended under Batteries title of my review. If you have any questions in connection with this swing, just drop me a comment or a message.
Ahh this swing is a bloomin god send if your baby has colic like my little lady had when she was small. i spent hours and hours trying to get her to sleep its was awful. then we bought this swing yay!!! its costs alot for a swing i know but when you look at all the features and how long it will last it is a god send honestly. withing 10 mins of putting my baby girl in the swing she was fast asleep its was amazing. it was easy to assemble and looks just great when its all together and so much better than other models on the market. i loved the fact that you can swap the way the swing moves from forward/backwards to side/side, a little play tray too which is great when baby is a bit bigger, a lovely comfy head cushion for tiny baby to be more comfy when the typical happens and they fall asleep ahhh yeahhhh thats excellent lol a harness to keep a wriggly baby strapped in when mummy needs to wash the pots or put some washing in. and the music and light up sea scene is brilliant. so soothing and very very pretty too all the little extras like that make this so worth while and excellent for a baby with colic.
My wonderful sister bought this for my son, and it was an absolute god send! It has various settings *it can swing from side to side and backwards and forwards, easily changed at the touch of a button. *It has a dome light at the top which lights up and soothingly changes colour to help calm baby as well as improve thier motor skills *There is fish style 'mobile' which hangs around the dome and moves around for babys entertainment and again it also helps with babys motor developement. *The swing has eight speed settings, so depending on how old the child is you can determine how fast it goes. *the swing has a musical feature, playing a number of different soothing tunes, and it also plays 'water sounds@ which help to calm baby. (and there is a volume button with 6 settings, so you can turn it down slowely as your child drifts off into a sleep) *the swing has a play tray which is suitable for when the baby gets a bit older and is learning to sit up. *there are two recline positions *There is a built in head rest which will support baby. The swing is suitable from birth up until approximately (20lb) around about 6 months. (depending on baby). Your child can be safely strapped in, so no danger of him falling out. I used to put my son in this during the day, and the gentle rocking motion would gently send him to sleep giving me some much needed 'houework time'. I also found that this product eased my sons colic. The swing is rather bulky, and even though the product decrition states that it can be folded, even when it is it still takes up a fair bit of room, so if you are considering it make sure you have the room for it. The swing takes 4 x D style batteries, unfortuantley it does not have an adaptor space (maybe this would make the product even better). The batteries do tend to last a long time, but it will cost you a small fortune in the long run, especially if you have it from birth. I personally found this product was a godsend, the only flaw being that it is fairly big and bulky, and takes batteries, no socket output. This product was awared JMPA innovation award 2003
We bought the fisher price swing for my little girl when she was first born and have used it again for my little boy, they have both enjoyed spending time in it and were in it until around six months the baby can be up to 20lbs in the swing. The swing goes backwards and forwards or side to side whichever you choose to set it on, it also has various speeds and sounds one is lullaby one sounds like the sea, there are fish also above the seat which spin around and a globe which lights up. The swing comes with a tray which also has little fish on it and you can place extra toys for the baby on this. The swing is quite big and takes up quite a bit of room but is well worth having. When weening i have fed my little boy in the swing while it is still as he couldnt sit in a highchair due to not being able to sit up unaided. I bought the swing for £99.99 from toys r us but you could pick a second hand one up off ebay for around £49.00 or out of your local paper.
The Fisher-Price Aquarium Cradle Swing is an amazing Product. A friend bought this in 2006 when my baby brother was born, he used it from been one week old until he was about 6 months. Thankfully it was stored away and we got it out when my son was born in July. My son loves spending time in the swing and it has been a life saver for us. It is somewhere safe your baby can enjoy while allowing you to do housework etc - In effect it is like an extra pair of hands. It has also enabled us all to sleep when my son has had a cold. Like most of us when my son had a cold he used to wake up when laid flat (in his cot). So we decided to try him in the swing and he slept through which meant we all got a good nights sleep!! The swing is battery operated and generally if you buy decent batteries they last along time however it would have been good if you had the option to plug into the mains. The seat can be adjusted to sit up when you baby gets older, this is great but it is not very easy to adjust (I especially found it difficult because of my nails)! It is not a very smooth transition either so you need to take your baby out to do this. This product is now on the 2nd child and is still in great condition and expect it to go on for many more years yet! The Technical Bit: It swings front to back and side to side Battery-operated, aquarium-themed globe Globe includes music, lights, bubbles, fish, water sounds Eight songs Sounds include crashing waves, rain, bubbling brook Volume control Six swing speeds Two-position seat recline Moving mobile with four dangling plush toys Removable tray with toy bar Removable, washable plush seat padding Built-in infant head support Swing positions adjust easily Requires 4x D batteries (not included) 28"L x 34"W x 42"H
I purchased one of these from ebay when i was pregnant with my daughter. I paid £60 delivered, so saved £40 on the shop price, and in my mind it was the best £60 we spent, so much so that i kept it in the attic and am now using it with my 4 week old son (he's asleep in it now!). I love the fact that it can go side to side or front to back. The mobile seems to fascinate my children as does the water filled light. The waves sounds are lovely and soothing and the music is ok too, they play for a decent length of time and there is a volume control too-always handy to have. This is one of those life saver products, my babies have always settled happily in this when i needed to get my jobs done or just have 10 mins to sit down with a drink!! they are a lot of money new but i would recommend these to any mum to be!!
The Fisher Price aquarium cradle swing really was a lifesaver for us. We'd bought everything else and priced at £100, a baby swing seemed very expensive and we weren't sure that we needed one. Once our eldest daughter was born my parents cam to visit and insisted upon buying us one. We chose the cheapest one we could find, price at £60 but my dad insisted upon getting us an aquarium swing. When he saw it in Mothercare his eyes literally lit up! We didn't get around to using it for another month but after weeks of having to walk around holding a screaming collicky baby for hours every evening we finally gave in. We had run out of ideas to soothe her so really tried it as a last resort. She hadn't been happy sitting or lying in anthing up to that point. Not even a bouncer. She loved it instantly and fell straight asleep. So we ended up using it every evening from 7 to 10 and it was bliss1 On the practical side it is very sturdy and is easy to put together and take apart fo travel. It can rock either from side to side or backwards and forwards and the seat has two positions. We used the lie back position from 1 - 4 months and then the more upright position from then on until our daughter was around 9 months old. The swing also includes 9 swing speeds and a series of soothing tunes. Above the seat is a ball that contains plastic fish shapes in water and there are 4 soft toys that can rotate at the flick of a sitch. The ball also lights up. Finally there is a play tray that fits across the seat that has three plastic shapes for the baby to play with.
Music, soft lights and tranquil aquatic sounds also help soothe baby. There's an aquarium water globe with changing lights and swimming characters, and a mobile with four plush aquatic friends to keep baby company. Age: birth to 2 years.
