A great set of pirate stickers that are easy and fun for children to use

For my son's 4th birthday party this year we had a theme of pirates. One of the things we did for the party was get all of the children to decorate cardboard tea boxes I had painted gold as their treasure chest to put all their party loot in. To help them decorate the boxes I got lots of different bits of craft kits including these pirate stickers. The stickers come in a small polythene bag so you really do need a small tub to store them in to stop them getting lost and damaged. The pack contains 120 stickers now I have to admit I didn't count them to see if there really was that amount but I was happy with the huge bundle that came. These stickers are foam stickers so they are slightly raised and stick out in a raised 3D way which was great for the look I was hoping the children would create for the boxes. There are a variety of sizes some are small at around 3 cms going up to 6 cms. What I like about the variety of the sizes is that all the same items be they parrots or pirates they are available in the different sizes which gave all the children the chance to experiment with how they wanted things to look to pick if they wanted a small or big size. Often they seemed to have a mixture of sizes on the boxes depending on the space they had left. The back of the stickers are nice and easy for the children to take of so they can stick them into place. None of the 3-5 year olds we had at the party needed any help in taking the backs of them. However some of them small stickers such as the hooks occasionally got a little torn if they were a bit rough in taking the back off them but we only ended up with about 5 being wasted this way which I personally was happy about. Once the backs are off and the children were sticking them in place they remained stuck to the boxes well and indeed even 9 months later my sons treasure box still has these stickers firmly in place unlike some of the gem stones I had bought which have since fallen off. The stickers themselves are very bright and colourful and did appeal to all the children the designs included pirates with peg legs, treasure maps and boxes, pirate hats, ships, parrots, a desert island and a skull and crossbones. The designs are clearly marketed at younger children as none of the images are scary or sinister. The pirates themselves almost look like children in dressing up outfits so these wouldn't really be suitable I think for older children wanting something a bit more gruesome, but for our 3-5 year olds they were perfect. Overall I am very pleased with these foam stickers they were easy for the children to use and had many appealing images. They have remained in place well and at £2.99 for a pack of 120 they are great value. I had liked them so much that I have bought since several other foam stickers by the same company with different images such as jungle or sea creatures. You just need a tub to keep them in other than that they are brilliant. Available from the yellow moon website at http://www.yellowmoon.org.uk
