On a family trip to our local steam railway to meet Peppa Pig and George, I picked up this little carry along colouring set to keep my 16 month old toddler occupied for a few minutes here and there whilst on the train. The colouring pad contains around 50 little colouring and activity pages all with the Peppa pig and friends theme to them along with 6 little wax crayons in a pouch at the back of the book. It also has a little carry handle so your toddler can carry it around with them, but when they've had enough its small and compact enough to just pop in your handbag/changing bag and not take up a lot of room. I actually purchased mine from the railway station shop for £1.99, but I have since seen these available to buy on amazon and play.com for around the same price, but I also noticed in the other review that they can be picked up from pound shops (bargain!). I would defiantly recommend them for stocking fillers or small gifts not only just a handbag boardem buster. I was really surprised at the quality if them for the price, the pictures are printed on lovely white paper, not the recycled greyish stuff, and the wax crayons work surprisingly well. You sometimes expect them to be cheap and have to press down quite hard to even get the colour on the paper but not with these. My toddler managed to scribble all over the paper without too much effort at all. I really am pleased with this product and would consider buying it again.
I always keep a small activity or toy in my bag so that when out with the grandchildren there is something to entertain them with. I bought this from the pound shop of all places! It's very decent for such a cheap shop. You get a little packet of crayons with 6 different colours and in front of that you get a colouring pad. It all is secure together with a crrying handle so that you can take it out and about. The colouring pad includes pictures to colour in of Peppa and friends and some activities such as join the dots. They are very simple so perfect for very young children who will adore Peppa. The crayons are really good quality. Sometimes wax crayons can be too waxy so that when you draw they end up almost erasing themselves as you go! These are good though, they are nice bright colours and you don't need to press down too hard to make them work. My grandchildren love these and what is great is that once they have finished I can put the crayons away at the back of the book and kepe them altogether in one place. I tend to get this out when we are in restaurants and waiting for food to arrive. It helps to keep them entertained and out of trouble! It is only small, about half the size of a postcard so the detail in pictures isn't amazing but it's perfectly fine and ideal for putting in my handbag. I cannot believe this only cost me £1. It is deifnitely worth it. There were other characters available but I thought Peppa Pig would be the best for both girls and boys. My grandchildren certainly love it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hours (well maybe minutes) of fun ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I bought this little set late last year before we went on holiday, in the hope that this would keep my little girl occupied on the ferry over to France. I realised this was probably ridiculously optimistic but I figured even a few minutes of peace would make it worthwhile - especially as I found this in my local pound shop for - you guessed it - £1. This is a very small soft covered book with the familiar figure of Peppa Pig on the cover. The colouring book is attached to a very slim cardboard box, and inside the back is a set of six small crayons. What is clever about this simple design is that the crayons can go straight back in after use so everything stays together in one handy place. There is even a little cardboard handle at the top of the box. The actual colouring book itself has thin sheets of white paper inside, with pictures to colour in, with all our favourite Peppa Pig characters in various scenes. The pictures are simple outline drawings so they are appealing to young children and fun for them to colour in, and for my daughter she liked them as she recognised the characters and she liked talking about the different scenarios she saw them in. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Handy little book ~~~~~~~~~~~ Now surprise surprise, this didn't keep my little girl quiet for the whole of our ferry journey! However it did keep her amused for a short while and it was quite good to have this on holiday with us as it is so easy to slip into a bag and take out. It is particularly useful when waiting for food in a restaurant or cafe, for example, when you sometimes need something to keep young ones entertained for 10 minutes or so. The design is really clever as it is so compact and includes everything you need. However I should mention that the box is only made of quite thin card so it isn't going to last forever! Even a few months after we returned home from our holiday, we kept hold of this and it did still get the odd bit of use - although my daughter lost interest once most of the scenes were coloured in. ~~~~~~~~~ A five star hit ~~~~~~~~~ Overall, I have to give this five stars as for £1 it is a really good, neat idea and I would really recommend it to parents who like to take their young ones out and about but often find themselves needing a distraction! It is simple to pack and to carry around and much easier than lugging about large books, pens, and so on. On amazon you can get his for £1.76 and upwards - and for under £2 I would say this is a very good buy - and it would make a good stocking filler if you already beginning to think about Christmas! According to amazon this isn't suitable for under 3s, but I am sure it is fine for any budding artists with some supervision.
