      fantastic for hand eye coordination

These Sew and Lace Cards are by Early Learning Centre and are a quality toy for childrens hand eye coordination and fine manipulative skills.

The set includes 8 cards and 8 jumbo laces.

The cards are made from a thick shiny card which is very strong. They could be bent but we always keep an eye on children with these to make sure they are safe with the laces. Therefore ours are in very good condition.

The cards are brightly coloured with nice cartoon pictures. This attracts children to the toy. The pictures are all different and there is a picture for everyone. The girls like the butterfly and bee whilst the boys like the boat and tractor. The other pictures are a spider, elephant, snail and dolphin.

There are holes around the outside of each picture where the laces are to be thread through. The children don't usually go around the outside but they are still gaining skills and may understand better when they are older.

The laces are brightly coloured like the pictures and are reasonably thick. I am not sure on the exact length but they go all the way round the pictures easily. The only problem children have with these laces are that if they get knotted the lace won't go through the hole and sometimes they are hard to unknot.

This set is for children over 3 years. We use it with 2 to 4 year olds and they really enjoy playing with it. We always watch children with this set because of the laces. Some children use them as necklaces around their necks and ask another child to tie it up. Unfortunately for them we get their first and stop them or do it ourselves as we don't want to strangle a child.

The cost of these are £5 from Early Learning Centre which I think is a fantastic price.

They can be used again and again after unthreading them and put back in their box. Children find it difficult unthreading them so I usually have to do it myself. They try to pull one end and expect the whole lace to come out, if only it was that easy.

These are a fantastic toy. I remember helping my cousin use these ten years ago. They haven't changed and they are still not an old looking toy. I now use them at my work and children still enjoy to use them as new children will in years to come.

        4 stars

I bought these cards for my grandchildren at Christmas and my granddaughter who is 4 loves them.

On the box it says suitable from 2 years plus although I think that a 2 year old would really struggle with it so it is more appropriate from 3 years.

What you get is a set of 8 cardboard pictures. these have holes around the outlines of the shapes. The pictures themselves are very bright and child friendly such as a rabbit, train, ball, crab and more. You get a set of 8 laces which are all different colours and children practice 'sewing' by threading them through the holes in the card to create a picture with the brightly coloured lace.

It isn't very challenging but it does help children to concentrate and use finer motor skills as they try to get the laces through the tiny holes and learn how to thread them through properly.

My granddaughter really enjoys playing with them. She will sit happily for about half an hour threading the laces through.

When the laces are threaded through you can then unthread them so they can do it again. It can be done over and over as many times as they like.

I think they are really nice. It would be good to have other packs to buy too with other pictures in so as to help keep her interested as I can't help but think that in a few weeks she will grow bored and want something else.

The cardboard is robust and good quality which is what you expect from something from The Early Learning Centre.

This is a nice little toy which will entertain your child and help them to concentrate.
