This 325 g jar of versatile scrummy yummy melt-in-the-mouth luxury toffee spread lends itself to whole array of uses. Suggestions from the manufacturers include spreading it on warm fresh crusty bread or croissants or using it as cake filling or cheesecake topping. You can even warm it through and use it as a dip for fresh fruit, wafers or biscuits. I personally favour it warmed and drizzled over chocolate ice cream. So, what does it really taste like? Imagine the creamiest toffee you have ever eaten. The pleasure it gave you. How your taste buds surrendered to temptation and seduced you to take another. How when the bag was empty the sugary sweet taste remained on your lips engraining itself on your memory fuelling your desire for more. Its so difficult to describe a taste so my advice would be to get down to your local Tesco or Budgens where it is stocked under the ‘Rowse’ brand name or Sainsbury’s where it stocked under a Sainsbury’s own label and get yourself a jar and see for yourself. I think I should explain why I have submitted ‘Luxury Toffee Fudge Spread’ under Rowse in general. MY SERVING SUGGESTION ********************* Taking the manufacturers advice to use ‘Toffee Fudge Spread’ as a cheesecake topping I used the following recipe for the base. 55g/2oz butter 85g/3oz pale muscovado sugar Grated rind of 1 lemon 55g/2oz ground almonds 115g/4oz sifted gram flour Beat together the butter and sugar until soft and light. Add the lemon rind. Rub in the ground almonds and gram flour with your fingers, working as lightly as you can. Shape the mixture into a circle approximately half an inch think on a sheet of greaseproof paper on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 160C/325F/Gas mark 3. Allow to cool and spread lashings of ‘Toffee Fudge Spread’ on top and you have a cheesecake with a delicious difference.
