World Party was just the latest in a long line of Worms games to be released on Sony's PS One console and follows a familiar theme. You play a team of worms armed with superior weaponry and fire-power who are charged with wiping out all their rival armies through a mixture of guile and cunning and sneaky tactics. A multi-player game, it can also be played in single-player mode where your selected team are issued a series of challenges based around different countries of the globe.
New weaponry available for this edition include the Concrete Donkey but favourite weapons like the Exploding Sheep and the Banana Bomb are back too. Apart from some new landscapes though and a new set of single-player solo missions, this is very much a case of seen it all before! If you have any other Worms games, then you will not miss out by owning this installment!
It is good for retro and nostalgic fun but little else. It is not the best of the Worms games but neither is it the worst!
Players are given full control over a party of four worms and sent into battle against rival factions. Using a arsenal of weapons including Earthquake, air strikes and an array of guns, the aim of the game is to blow enemy worms to smithereens and remain the 'last worm standing'. The game features multiplayer missions, single-player missions and a training section.
