Wow, what a classic in the world of beat-em up games. This may well have been my first instantly addictive computer game as it had everything and more. Firstly the gameplay was awesome - both for one or two players. I suppose with one player the game would eventually get dreary as it repeated just with harder intervals.
After beating your oponent up with various karate moves, as well as famously being able to use the cheat to make his trousers fall down, there would be the bonus stage of either kicking bombs away, or deflecting what looked like beach balls but were probably Amiga-graphic ninja stars with a shield bonus rounds. These, like the main fights, started off easy and got harder yet were highly addictive in their own right. There was also the added satisfaction of your belt colour changing as you got better and better til of course you ended with a black belt.
I suppose it probably wouldn't stand up with some of todays crazy graphic, 'realistic'move games but there was something quite simple and appealing with it's addictive gameplay.
International Karate + was the ultimate beat em up on the Amiga and was so addictive and yet so hard that I wish I was 13 again. Not only was the sound effects funny and the graphics amusing but there were great options to enable your opponent's trousers to fall down and head chopped off etc. Not only was it a good two player game but it also was a very quick load which anyone who remembers the Amiga's capabilities will appreciate. I wish I could still play this game. In fact, I wish I still had an Amiga, sniff!
