Your monitor is about the only part of your computer which doesn't obey Moores law (which means it won't be obselete in two years' time). It is also one of the most important parts to get right. Much has been made of RSI injuries due to using keyboards but there is very little documentation about the detrimental effects to your eyes cause by staring at warped, blurred, out of focus or flickering images on your monitor. With this in mind, I recently decided to splash out on a 700ift, which was as much as I could afford, but I'm glad I spent the extra cash. I chose this monitor having trawled through numerous websites, comparing specs and reading reviews. Samsung always seem to get good reviews but this monitor really stands out from the crowd. Colours are very crisp and bright - the monitor comes with a calorific software package which helps you to adjust the colour/brightness/contrast settings to suit the light in your home, office or wherever. The screen is also remarkably flat which seems to make it much easier on the eye than the IIyama VM which I use at work. All the usual screen adjustments are there and it looks pretty cool too. What more could you ask for?
