“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Roll-on / Suitable for: Body „
The Body Shop offer a range of beauty products which are not tested on animals. ~DeoDry~ The DeoDry range includes a few scented roll on deodorants - refills can be purchased. I will be discussing my use of the 'Cool and Zesty Roll On'. This deodorant roll on is free from parabens and mineral salts. It is enriched with essential oils and volcanic minerals and promises 24hour odour protection and a 'dry effect'. Body Shop claim that white marks will be minimised with this roll on. This roll on features a decent size, roller ball. The actual bottle of liquid is upright with the roller ball at the top. The bottle is mainly white and has various pieces of product information on it. It is a good size for travelling. The bottle can be recycled and this dedorant has a shelf life of 12months. ~Price~ A 50ml roll on can be purchased from www.bodyshop.co.uk or instore priced at £2.50. Refills are priced at £2.00. There are two other fragrances available. ~My Thoughts~ Since having my son 4yrs ago, I have suffered terribly with a sweating issue. Having worked my way through just about every deodorant on the shelf of Boots, I have a fair bit of experience with figuring out what conceals smells and what doesn't! I don't normally bother with Body Shop products but I needed to purchase something cheap to fufill a discount purchase offer via the website towards the end of last year. Generally, I prefer spray on products. I chose the Cool and Zesty fragrance as it sounded pleasant and fresh. The design of the bottle allows the roll on to be kept upside down without hassle therefore allowing the liquid to be constantly ready to go. That being said, I have had no issues with the liquid flowing when the packaging is upright anyway. Applying this deodorant is a simple process. The roller ball is smooth and skims across my underarm area without dragging. It releases a fair amount of liquid and I only ever need to apply the once. I am not overly keen on using this roll on. It doesn't feel as gentle as other roll ons I have tried in the past and nipped quite a bit when I applied after shaving my underarms. The liquid dries fairly quickly and the scent is quite strong - often a little too strong. It is very zesty and sharp. I am aware that deodorant doesn't prevent sweating - it simply masks the sweating aroma. I found this fine for a few hours. Whilst I could feel my underarms becoming quite damp soon after applying, this deodorant roll on does do a good job of hiding the smell caused by sweating. I do prefer an anti-perspirant but am happy to use this when lazing around the house and not exerting too much energy! No white marks are left on dark clothing. ~Conclusion~ I do not like the nipping sensation when applying this deodorant. My underarms can breath freely after use and the scent is powerful enough to keep me smelling fresh but ultimately, due to heavy sweating, I do prefer something that will put a stop to the wet patches as well as masking any unappealing odours so I do not feel the need to use this roll on often. One bottle does last well for me but I would imagine those using this daily will need to replace it quite quickly. It isn't too expensive but if I had to choose, I would opt for Dove or Nivea roll ons overall. This would be an ideal roll on for those who do not sweat too much and generally want to smell fresh and clean. The roller ball still works fine and hasn't dried up. I bought this just because it was aluminium and paraben free. It has volcanic minerals and essential oils in it, which was also another selling point for me. It cost £2.50 for 50ml. I thought that was not badly priced. It is a roll on and claims to minimise white marks, which is good as I wear a lot of black. The scent I had was cool and zesty. It certainly smelt very citrusy. I was just hoping it would do what it claimed and give me long lasting protection. I lead an active life so I need something that is up to the job. I put it on first thing in the morning. It rolled on great and felt very fresh and light. I also felt confident wearing it, which I had not been getting from other products. By the time late evening came I could still smell it. It did not seem to fade as other deodorants do. I was very impressed with this product. The packaging is white with a yellow lid. It looks clean and fresh. Price £2.50 for 50ml, from The body shop.
The Body Shop is one of those places I always go into but, more often than not, leave empty handed. Although there products are good the price reflects this and most of the time I cannot afford anything. On my last trip to the Body Shop, however, I saw this deodorant for £2.50. Although this is still quite expensive for deodorant it was still affordable so I thought I'd give it a try. Another great thing about this product is that you can buy refills for £2.00, saving you 50p if you want to continue using this product when it's all gone. From the three scents available, Cool and Zesty was my favourite and so that is the one I went for. The scent of this deodorant is, as the name implies, zesty. Not very flowery but instead citrus fruity, a hint of lemon and lime can be detected. It's a hard scent to describe but it's very nice all the same. The packaging is simple. Just a white plastic case with a green lid, lift the lid off to expose the usual plastic ball which you then roll over your armpits. The ball is big enough to give good coverage quickly and the deodorant does the trick. No more smelly armpits with this product! I've applied this deodorant straight after shaving my armpits and have experienced no stinging or comfortable sensations at all so that's another positive to this great deodorant. As with all Body Shop products this deodorant is not tested on animals and is environmentally friendly which is something I always look for in cosmetic products. It's a great little deodorant which comes highly recommended from me.
I tend to use a Roll on now and again. I suppose I have a bit of a weird ritual when it comes to Deodorant. I prefer to use Sprays through the day, but if I have a Shower at night then I will slick on some Roll On. I've done this for years, and there is no rhyme or reason for it, so I guess I am a little strange. Wonder if anyone else is like this? I love The Body Shop brand. The products are good quality, it's only the price that is the bad thing as it is a little expensive for the products, but I do like to treat myself now and again. Then again with this it only cost me £2.50 and although that is kinda expensive for a Roll on as brand named ones are anything up to £1 cheaper, for this brand it is a not bad price at all. Interestingly enough you can also buy Refills for the Roll On's, which work out a bit cheaper than buying this whole unit. The Roll On looks like the picture. Nothing all that exciting. Just a plastic unit with the Body Shop label going round the body of it. Just take the lid off and you are left with a large Roller Ball. Just 1 slick of this will cover your under arm area. So how does this smell? It is nice. It is a very Citrus scent which is tangy and Zesty. The main scent in here is Lime which I was a little surprised at as I would have thought it would have been Lemon. I like the scent of Lime. It isn't an overpowering scent, but it is pretty tangy so if this is the scent that you go for then this should be ideal for you. This dries quick enough as well, and kept me fresh well. For research purposes I have used this a few times through the day and it keeps the damp patches and smells at bay. Another good product from a good brand.
Body Shop DeoDry Cool and Zesty Roll on I would think you have had to have been living under a rock or on a deserted island with no internet access in order not to have heard of Anita Ruddick's Body Shop. Alas she has now passed on but her dream of the Body Shop selling products that are cruelty free and supporting of Fair Trade and Community projects still lives on. There are Body shops in so many different countries all around the world which must be far beyond her wildest dreams. Recently I purchase a deal from Groupon for thirty pounds worth of Body Shop products for twelve pounds and so I went along with my voucher to choose my basket full of goodies. I was very attracted to some of the products that were buy one get one free and this deodorant was one of these. I am very conscious about avoiding aluminium salts in my deodorants as some scientists believe they have been linked to breast cancer and I feel if I can avoid tempting fate then I will. If you are interested then see http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/AP-Deo. I have been using a varied selection over the years from Pitrock (the deodorant rock) through to Lush block deodorants and I thought it was time to try a new one so I grabbed a few of these. These deodorants are usually 2.50 each but I think I got them as a three for two special or BOGOF deal but I can't honestly remember. I spent some time sniffing the different options of which there are three. There is this one, 'Cool and Zesty' which comes with a lime green lid, 'Chilled and Breezy' with a blue lid and finally, 'Fresh and Floral' with a pink one. Each of the scent options comes either in a roll on or a stick option and my choice was the roll on. The roll ons also have the option to buy refills which are 50p cheaper than the full roll on kit . The smell of this deodorant is indeed cool and zesty. It has a very fresh citrussy, lime aroma with a hint of herbiness. It states on the front that the deodorant contains volcanic mineral and essential oils. The herbiness I think is a bit like eucalyptus, it reminded me of lemon scented gum trees in Australia. I love the scent which smells lovely and fresh when I apply it in the morning but the scent is not so overpowering that it dominates so stopping you wearing perfume. I find I can easily wear whatever perfume I choose and it is not affected by the deodorant aroma at all. This deodorant contains has aloe vera from Guatamala and alcohol from Ecuador both countries being part of the Community trade projects. The aloe vera and sugar cane needed to make the alcohol are both grown on farms using organic production processes. The Body Shop's trade with these Community Trade farmers ensures that they receive a regular and fair income. It smells lovely but it also does the job which is to stop me having smelly armpits. I don't really sweat a lot but after a day if I don't wear any deodorant I can sniff body odour on my clothes under my armpits and I would not choose to suffer that. If I wear this deodorant I find that there is no nasty smell, there is a hint of the citrussy smell and there is absolutely no stain or marks on my clothes under my armpits so as far as I am concerned it does the job. I have used this deodorant straight after shaving my armpits and it didn't sting at all and I had no unpleasant reaction from the product at all. It goes on wet but dries within a minute or less so I don't get that nasty feeling of having wet armpits when I put on my clothes. I never use an anti- perspirant as I don't like the idea of preventing my body sweating if it needs to, although as I said before I don't ever really have a problem even when we are in hot countries on holiday. What's the difference between a deodorant and an anti-perspirant? Well just in case you didn't know this fact, deodorants mask or kill odours caused by perspiration whereas, anti-perspirants control or stop perspiration by using ingredients such as aluminium salts. These products block pores to minimize sweating and any wetness which might cause odours.I prefer to use products which work naturally to combat odours developing while allowing my body to behave as normally as possible. This product is a deodorant rather than an anti perspirant and it is certainly one I will buy again as I find it does a great job, smells, nice, fresh and natural and has not ever had an allergic reaction when I have been using it..
